You ruined the whole video by cooking with plastic
サテライトnsf agreed!
That's Polypropylene plastic it has no effect at that temperature.
Just few months ago BBC made some lady cook fried rice with lousy techniques. And this video was 2 years ago!!! At this failure rate, we should not follow any of BBC cooking videos at all.
@@rjaxxxas YOU MISS THE POINT!!!!! Microwaving food with plastic will cause carcinogenic compounds to be produced from the plastic and deposited into the food. Over time, it will give you cancer.
Yes exactly I was just wondering how come ughhhh
Okay now do a video about microwaving with plastic
Instant death
They did microwave it with plastic, or were you blind to the plastic wrap?
I was not blind to the plastic wrap. You've missed my point.
What is your point?
chipchip I want them to make a video about microwaving plastic.
Definitely not by microwaving in plastic. I used to intern for the EPA and microwaving in plastic causes toxic chemicals to seep out into your food
Yeah that's pretty dumb lol
Well, everyone knows that, no?

The best way to cook your vegetables and preserve vitamins is to steam the vegetables. They sell a metal folding basket at Walmart or any other box store to put inside your pot so you can just put a bit of water in the bottom & close the lid. Then steam the yummy nutritious veggies! 😊
Yes, that's what I thought.
Steam hams
Yes and microwave is second

The best way is not to cook food at all, but since our brains evolved even more because we processed food outside our bodies, thus making our stoves or microwave ovens another stomach so we can process them quicker and more efficiently, it's really hard to tell if it does more benefit or harm.
Now I want a video about plastic wraps. I still feel uncomfortable using them for hot foods.
www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/microwaving-food-in-plastic-dangerous-or-not
TL;DR - It's safe so long as you don't burn your food. However, if you're still concerned about that, the source does provide ways to mitigate such problems.
HerebyOrdinary Hey thank you, that's what I wanted to know
No problem.
@@jarrad2000 i hope plastic doesn't melt on your hot food

Only covered the nutrition part. What about discussing the cancer misconception?
Mohammed Shafei what cancer misconceptions?
The video begins with reports stating the alleged dangers of microwave ovens, including cancer, but she only addresses the nutrition aspect.
There are zero evidence of it causing cancer.
Mohammed Shafei source
Well, conventional microwave oven do not cause cancers.
However, microwave radiation does cause cancer, to a certain degree. I'm not going to write huge amounslts here but you should look into the cosmic background radiation, Veratasium's video on radiation and have a look at the the types of radiation we come across in our daily lives, e.g from bananas, smoke detectors and more.
Not when you've just wrapped it in plastic and warmed that up too! One thing they failed to mention is that steaming your veg is the best cooking method to prevent nutrient loss, including vit C.
This video isn't about the best cooking methods. It's about yhe myth that microwaves are bad for you
I don’t give a crap about the vegetables I wanted to know about the cancer...
Whats your gut tell you? Mine tells me it does.. anything quick and easy that goes into it eventually causes cancer too. Fake ingredients cause cancer regardless of what they say is safe. They only care about their profits. Trust your gut..
There is no link between cancer and microwaved food
shawn pietila Microwave ovens Do Not cause cancer. There is no established research that proves a link between the use of microwave ovens and development of cancer. How do microwaves work? Electromagnetic energy, which is similar to radio waves, from microwaves heat up the water molecules from food.
Has anybody actually died from microwaving too often?
No
I stopped believing in the BBC loooooong time ago
Sorry to hear you're !nsane
STFU boomer...
That doesn't change the fact microwave ovens are safe. Listen to what she says "ALL forms of cooking change the food." This is a misunderstanding of "microwave evils". Sure microwaves change the food. So do other methods.

I 🥫 tell you are ignorant
I really wish you'd just make the sound in your videos louder. I have to crank up the speaker volume and then a notification comes and i just go deaf for a while...
always tell my mom to do not microwave food with the plastics and she says she does not care so she could die faster
Cancers!!!
Intuitively don't trust any piece of "news" content with makeup-shopping pop music playing in the background. Especially regarding such a serious topic.
I literally thought THE SAME when it started playing!! Also, my eyes Hurt when at the end I saw she really is heating the food covered in plastic! 😭 Jesus, I don't know what world she lives in. She's totally outstandingly wrong by what she is doing.
These days, when someone says "conspiracy theory" it automatically has greater creedence than the speaker, and the speaker must then work uphill to prove otherwise.
Absolutely agree! She's a paid shill.
The BBC are propagandists of the highest order, for those scumbags to reduce normal concerns to 'conspiracy theories' indicates a high level of manipulation.
A cancer patient saying microwaves aren’t dangerous seems legit
it seems like this video should go on for another 5 min. and i'd really like to see the rest, where can i do this?
Ok, is it only me seeing the microwave light twitching in thumbnail when I move the list up and down or every one else??
If the BBC says it’s ok then it’s definitely not ok !
As someone who know exactly how a Microwave oven works I have no issues with it at all. Most operate around 2.4GHz. Same place your WiFi operates - it's known as the ISM band. I've been dealing with microwave equipment most of my life - even some of my radios - the high operating frequency is in the 70cm band. Technically low edge microwave.
The thing that scares people about a Microwave oven though - the power levels. They run anywhere from 800W to 1200W and more - scary amounts. That's why old Microwaves had huge transformers on them. And the center of it all is still a tube - granted pretty reliable and instant on but a tube none the less.
There are people who are scared of wifi too...
There Are people scares of their own shadow
Oh I know. In fact there's a community around the national RF quiet zone that claim that they can detect and are affected by RF waves. It's crazy.
Yep I know that. I also know that there are huge numbers of people out there that are just barely functional to do a job and that's it.
And then we have people bathing in the Sun, not realizing they're being blasted by ionizing radiation. They are often the same type of people.
hmmm,, i wonder where the funding for this video came from.
Even if they were safe 90% of the food cooked in it is processed garbage anyways! Cut out the microwave and you'll begin to eat healthier food..
It came from physics and chemistry classes that you probably skipped
Only if you make a hot pocket and take a big bite without letting it cool enough
I just quit the microwave yesterday and I heated up some rice and curry traditionally on the hob. The taste and all round heating of the food was unbelievably different to the microwave. Don't trust this woman. Ditch the microwave.
BBC - British Bullshit Corporation.
Did you conduct a scientific study?
@@TheGurra93 No. But heating stuff on the hob I generally feel better. It just feels clean and natural. Try it
@@maroof1 ok if you feel better, go for it! The problem is that, you need to study a lot of people to gain evidence of the microwave being bad or not.
Microwaves are bad for us guys I stuck my head in one to see if they were poisoning my food and now my head has boiled
So... I can’t get over the plastic
It takes longer and if its possible for the food I have I prefer to use the stove top in a saucepan to re heat food , anyone interested in what plastic is doing to us check out a book called " Estrogeneration "
I have started to go back to basics . I am getting rid of microwave. So much radiation in the food. I never ever cook in plastic. I remove the contents into a dish to heat in the oven.
Instead of throwing the water you should drink it
I don't cook anything in a microwave I'd rather eat mc donalds lol

The vegetables that I cook in water I used water for pot liquor with cornbread or I drink it and therefore I don't really lose anything.
When I was little, we had pet meercats, after defrosting their raw meat in a microwave, they refused to eat it. We tried to see if they could distinguish the microwave food from meat that was defrosted in hot water and they picked the hot water defrosted meat every time. Wouldn't touch that microwaved sh*t
Are regular ovens safe or convectional?
The microwave manufacturers will not go down without fight. Sample here y'all.

Microwaving is perfectly healthy. Sure, much of the nutritional content may get destroyed but it's still very healthy. Also, microwavable foods are some of the healthiest food options around. Heck, there's even an entire brand of microwavable foods called "Healthy Choice" so you know it's healthy!
I’m guessing sarcasm?
@@domsquaaa4323 hard to tell with people on youtube, but microwavable dinners have a direct linked to colon cancer so i'd say yeah thats sarcasm.
Microwaved protein bars with cheap oil is healthier … AND YOU HAVE TO MICROWAVE THEM FOR THE LONGEST PERIOD OF TIME😋😋😋 SO HEALTHY. I also eat healthy McDonald’s for my healthy breakfast everyday and I microwave it for 30 minutes for the healthy yummy radioactive taste😋😋😝
I'll stick to my plant based soy with extra maggot extract
@@odk1105 correlation doesn't mean causation. Just because microwaved dinners cause smth doesn't mean it's caused directly by the act of microwaving. The process of preparing them before selling seems much more likely to have some weird hygiene/methodology inconsistency that make them bad for eating even if you don't use microwave to heat up/prepare them
I always put a napkin on top of my food just in case

Nope. Ur wrong there. She is leaving all the important concerns out. She is only talking about the effects to nutrition. She is completely leaving out the molecular changes it does to the food and how piezo electricity changes on the atomic levwl wich is not good for people in the long run
IGNORE the actual facts and go ahead... believe her LoL 😂 😂
CAUTION!!! Never use PLASTIC .. not just about In Microwave. Look for alternatives instead of Plastic .. whether cling wrap or using Zip lock bags, especially the cheaper plastic.
Watch out--BBC will tell you that BPA-phobes are conspiracy theorists.
my parents unplugged the microwave because they saw one article that microwave bad.
lmao
Should be titled "does cooking in the microwave diminish more nutrients than boiling."
Doesn't address concerns about the radiation in the food or any seepage. Thx anyways.
I KNEW IT, i mean,....the only thing that the microwave do is just to make the molecules to move.
if the bbx says microwaves are good .. its time to get rid of all microwaves!
Cooking a broccoli in water.. how about of steaming?
I would use another method as they are so many alternatives. You have to ask why are so many people ill there must be something fundamentally wrong with the foods we eat or the appliances we cook with. Someone said the lightbulb in fridges is harmful its needs changed to an infrared one.
Preservatives and processed foods have a lot to do with why people are getting more sick. A good example is processed meats. Companies add nitrates and nitrites to make them last longer (mainly nitrates) and those become carcinogenic when reacting with fluids in our bodies. That’s just one example, I’m sure there’s others.
@@michaelmerrett There are definitely other reasons besides the unhealthy meats you mentioned. Fruits and vegetables saturated with chemicals and gmos. Microwave ovens take all nutrients out and leave only the carbohydrate.
🎵I’m spinning around, move out of my way 🎵
Stoves does not have radiation and radiation is dangerous for humans. Who does she work for?
👍
I am going back to basics . I have started already. So much help on youtube on reheating all kinds of foods. I am getting rid of my microwave i dont trust the radiated food and exposure of the radiation

STOP PUTTING PLASTIC OVER YOUR FOOD THOUGH.
and what about that piece of wrapping plastic almost melting in your food. is that save? i bet all those phthalates must taste very good. dont like phthalates or the taste of pvc? then try the awsome taste of pvdc or ldpe. the added pinch of deha in your food will leave you satisfied.
I hate microwaves because of the waves.
I cannot find any sources
Watching this while I microwave my chef boyardee
Radiation? When is radiation safe?
Oh it's the BBC, it HAS to be true.
yeah but you reheat it so it cooks again... so if you boiled it first it lost nutrients and then you microwave it theres basically nothing left in the food...
Just bulk. Hardly any nutrition!!!
Thanks!!!
"Radiation" is a trigger word for most people, unless they understand there are different types.
God.. what a simplistic piece.. it didnt even mention whether microwave radiation is harmful ??
What about the harmful chemicals from the cling film?
I love how not one piece of reference scientific materials were shared in this video. What actual studies said what?
So who decides which article or view is conspiracy and which one isn't. In other words , who are you. People should rather be encouraged to study these things on their own than be made to trust some sources and turn down others just because what they say has some label attached to it. What has a label "conspiracy theory" got to to with Whether what is said is true or not. What if i say you are a conspiracy theorist.... Interesting
I do believe, using the microwave to cook daily IS damaging & I would choose conventional cooking over microwave cooking any day!
Thank God the honest msm can clear this up and ease my mind.
I'm sorry, were they microwaving in saran wrap??
Nobody cares if it harms the food. we want to know if it harms us.
be reminded!
I stop believing anyone!
Y'all are getting advantages out of all the shit we are in or dealing with.
Who's idea was that "annoying" bgm??
that, and the overall low volume! they need to hire a competent video editor (or whoever does the audio mastering)
What about making a cup of tea with the leftover water instead of throwing away, barbaric!
the nutrients end up in the water that you THEN DRINK...
not throw away....haha
😂
NOT if you put the veggies in a steamer on the stove
How the heck I landed on BBC FNN
I need help I just put food in a styrofoam container in the microwave with a fork sitting on top of the food and I ate some of the food. The food was in the microwave for 15 seconds and my throat hurts. Am I going to be okay? HELP
The people who actually are scared of microwaves probably are extremely healthy already and have no reason to be fearful. And also like literally your fragrances, cleaning products, and processed foods are probably way more dangerous to your health than a microwave
Fruits, vegetables, dairy, grains and all of the food in the USA, unless organic or non-sprayed are unhealthy to digest!
id rather none of them be cancerous tbh..is it really worth the risk
I need to know the name of the song of the microwave

Microwave every thing you eat for one week, then evaluate how you feel, you may be surprised.
@@AbsenceOfLogic okay, microwave everything you eat/drink for a year then
I do meal prep for work. I have no choice.
This idea that microwaving takes nutrients is funny because you can’t just take a nutrient out of food. You can’t take potassium out of a banana 😇
there's still the issue of "hot spots" where some areas of the food are more susceptible than others. I've never gotten an evenly cooked meal out of a microwave, even a moderately thick soup just boils at the edges leaving the middle cold. best I can suggest is to put about half a cup of water in a glass next to the food item and run at 30% duty cycle to give enough time between pulses for the heat to spread out from the hot spots. this will absorb some of the microwaves so it doesn't immediately incinerate the few centimeter-thick susceptible zones and overall is more "gentle" in heating the rest of the meal. just don't let the water get to boiling temperature, you'll have to experiment to see what works for the power rating of your own microwave.
I think when it comes to soup the microwaves heat from the outside in, it's always recommended like every 30sec to stir it. But who has the time to do that xD?
This has to do with the "wave" part of microwave. Because the microwaves are moving around inside the box, you end up with areas that are more affected than others (peaks and troughs). If you have a microwave with a carousel you typically want to put the food off center so that it will travel through the hot spots in a way that prevents hot spots in the food. If you don't have a carousel, then you will want to move the dish around once or twice during the cooking process to help prevent this.
And, of course, letting the food sit for a couple minutes at the end (like most microwave directions on food suggest) will allow that heat to spread throughout the food a bit more evenly.
the "hot spots" I'm speaking of are less about location relative to the waves than they are about material composition of the food. Graphite is an excellent microwave susceptor for example, so are thin bridges of grape skins as you've probably seen in plasma ball vids. foods can have all kinds of random susceptors buried inside that will burn faster than the surrounding stuff even if you have a carousel. I'm speaking from experience having lived in about a dozen flats during my career each with their own unique brand of microwave.
I don't know what you lot are doing but hot spots are a minor, very minor , problem. Often I don't get them at all but obviously if you are heating soup you give it a minute or two then stir it and give it a bit more time. it's easy enough. I cook on the stove and mainly use microwaves to heat up things or make something quick like scrambled eggs; or zap some bacon. Other wise I use it to heat up a plate of stew for example made earlier. I don't go in for cooking all my food in it...
Use one of those covers
BBC says it all ....
Now who to believe...
plus most things just taste like shit when microwaved .
davidking3311 macaronis for example beeeeeh
THAT'S IT? One aspect, the nutrient content, is all you talk about?
I mean I don't know nor care but I just want to know. Only talking about this feels like a cop-out and just fuels the theories you were unable to even address.
2/10 : 'What a joke'
I like microwaves but having heated cling film in contact with your food 2:10 like that !!
