    A little tidbit on this topic to whoever it may benefit:
    Starting the downswing, try to lead with the right elbow without moving the right shoulder. This is crucial for not coming over the top and having space for the arms. If you do this, the right shoulder will naturally fall down, instead of flaring out towards the ball.

    I’m certainly no instructor, and I don’t play one on TV…….but to me, the ability to keep the right shoulder turning through is really a function of right wrist bend. If you release the right wrist angle too early it creates a chain reaction through the upper body (right side). The right wrist unhinges too early, then the right elbow releases and finally the right shoulder stays high. It’s almost anatomically impossible to keep the right shoulder turning down and through without some degree of bend in both the right wrist and elbow. The tricky part for me is knowing when to release the right wrist properly so I can accurately square the face and hit a good shot. There’s a sweet spot I just havent fully found yet. Good video tho. Always appreciate your tips and insights, JC.

    Personally, I try and feel my trail shoulder turning through my target line spot in front of the ball. Once you you flush a few balls with this feel, you never wanna go back! Great video - thanks

    I hate it when instructors show what a bad swing looks like and it’s still 200% better than my best swing 😢

    I love these 2 drills. I used this and played yesterday. Had my best iron game that I could remember.

    I just tried really hard to do this on my driveway mat into my net. Hit at least 100 balls and failed miserably. I'm 77 and just cannot get much lower/upper separation. My backswing is so short i have no time in downswing to have any rythm. Trying hard to transfer to front leg but things happen so quickly that it feels like my arms cant keep up with my hips.

      @jchowngolf what kind of swing thought that I can use to trigger downswing? In previous of your video, you mention to hit the ball with the right shoulder. which helped me from early extension. Now, I would like to combine the downswing trigger with this + hitting with right shoulder. Thanks

    Always very informative and useful tips for improving our golf, thank you! could you let us know about the grips you're using and how they compare to those that come standard with our clubs?

    It looks like the right arm doesn’t fully extend until after the turn? Is that correct?

    Just shanked about 73 golf balls at the range trying to do this movement 🤷🏾‍♂️. I can't release the club doing this, hitting straight torpedoes past the person next to me. I'll keep trying though 🥹

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  6 місяців тому +2

      Definitely something else going on there to cause the shanks. This move on its own will move the club inside the ball line not outside
