Keep the fuel inlet out and tap the inlet for a threaded barb fitting. Best advice I could ever give anyone. Great video man, glad to see you posting again.
VWJawbreaker that is an awesome idea on tapping that area and using a threaded barb! Man I’ve been having all kinds of equipment issues my camera/phone died got a new one now I’m battling my computer and might have 2 get a new one! I’ve got footage and tons of pics from Sema I want 2 get posted!
@@mileageunknown8910 Thanks for the video. I have a VW T3 aircooled and I lost the barb while driving (!), exactly like in your story, luckily the van just stopped with no fire. I have a language issue here and I'd like to understand better the awesome idea of the threaded barb. What did you and VWJawbreaker do exactly? Did you only replace the original barb for a bigger/threaded one? Or you also worked on (threaded) the body of the carburetor? Thanks in advance!
Thanks! As a novice just learning the Solex 32 PDSIT-3 for my 76 Squareback so some of this was helpful, especially when you describe the part names and functions.
Thanks for checking out the vid! I will say something we should’ve paid more attention 2 when rebuilding these was the play in the throttle plate bushings. Make sure you check yours and if need be there’s someone on thesamba.com that rebuilds/rebushes the throttle plates this could be a vacuum leak and cause you tuning issues.
Hey bud. Really wish I found your video when I rebuilt my PDSIT about a year ago. Would have been super helpful! Excellent video. Currently rebuilding a 67 square on my page, so I'm looking forward to see more of you content as well.
I Just subscribed! Looks like an awesome project! One thing I wish I would of paid more attention to on my carbs is the throttle plates you can buy rebushed ones on thesamba thanks for checking out the vid!
your video just made me realise I forgot to install the idle cut off valves... no wonder I couldn't get the car running (unless I kept pumping the gas really hard)
Oh yeah, that'll cause huge problems! Heck mine won't idle without those plugged in let alone not installed! Hope you got it figured out and back on the road!
Excellent video. I'm about to strip my 34TBIA and 35CEEI solex'es from my Alpine V6 - and know your video, troubleshooting, & knowledge sharing will help greatly. Many thanks buddy 👍
Last year got a new PICT30 and one of the selling point was it has a threaded fuel inlet barb.. This seem to be a common issue that i'm seeing on you tube ..
you mentioned in part of the video about a check ball......I had my driver side carb apart and installed the rebuild kit and now its worse than before.....im wondering if I lost this ball your talikng about because I didnt have one in mine...or atleast I never seen it when i took it apart.
I won't lie I still feel like I have issues with mine..... I really think the larger size of the engine is causing problems..... what'd you end up finding on yours?
Also - if you don't mind me asking .. Did you fully dissemble the other carb-body before cleaning? I mean the part with the more complicated 'cam' mechanism? That is, did you just put the whole thing in, or break-down and rebuild the mechanism that controls the flow plate?
I too them both down to the same level, It does seem the bushings in these throttle plates can wear quite a bit I've found a few people on thesamba that re-build and re-bush them.
Super detailed bro thanks! In this week have this work in a Vw T3 with a client, any more advice before a D day? One question, its difficult get the gaskets? Its possible make this with paper-gaskets or better buy new gaskets? And the diaphragm? Thanks for share your knowledge,it serves me for my tomorrow works, serious thank you so much, best wishes
Sadly even after we rebuilt these they ran good for awhile I then ended up rebuilding the engine and during re-assemble really got 2 looking at the carbs and the throttle plates were very worn out and causing vacuum leak issues so I just couldn’t get the car running right. I would definitely look at the throttle plates the can cause you issues for sure! There are a few seller on thesamba.com that sell ones that have been rebushed so you may need 2 look at those!
@@mileageunknown8910 Thanks a lot for this information and answered me bro,I look that one carburator have a broken resistance, just on the wires conection, this part have reload?
I see you have a small brass knurled wheel on your fuel adjuster. Is that stock? I have several sets of PDSIT 32 34 and they all have flat screw heads for the adjustment. They are tricky to access in situ - and I like the look of your adjuster. So is that something you made? Bought? If so - can you give us some details please?
@@mileageunknown8910 Interesting! Thank you!. All of the ones I have ever seen in Europe don't have an external adjuster. They just give access to a flat-head screw. That is fine - but on my 2lt bus, access is tricky and in just makes the job of adjusting the carbs somewhat slower. I am now thinking of looking for an after-market, adjuster with a knob - or even to make one up.
Hi there! I found a guy selling his 32-34 PDSIT 2 carb, i was wondering if i could use it alone or do i have to find the PDSIT 3 carb too. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm kinda new lol. Thankssssss

Mileage Unknown we’ll be waiting. Totally understand the setbacks.

The Harbor Freight cleaner did a phenomenal job.
I was surprised how good it did!

VWJawbreaker brought up a good idea he said he’s tapping and buying threaded barbs which might be something I go back and do.
Well what the hell? Fun afternoon of cluster!
Jody Lyn at least it worked out in the end!!!

Great video. What’s the spec on that parts cleaner and what solution did you use.? I need to find an equivalent in Australia 🦘🦘
Sorry for the late response, next time I'm at my brothers place I'll get the info! Thanks for checking out the vid!

Those were on this set, all the other sets I've had are the black plastic adjusters I haven't seen normal screws on them......
I just remembered I may have some 32/34's I'll see what they have

Hola, yo tengo esos carburadores pero no vi ese pequeño tubo que sale debajo de la tapa de carburador, para que sirve ?
It's a pickup tube. Definitely made a difference in how mine runs!
Factory air conditioning. Cool....
Maybe one of these days I'll get the A/c rebuilt and working! Thanks for checking it out!
What did you do to your engine to sound like this? What kind of silencer did you put on? Great video!
Thanks for checking it out! The car is actually completely stock running the stock muffler and heater boxes!

What are you trying to run it on? I'm trying to think if you could run them individually on something, they are definitely setup to be run as duals
