- When the Apple AirTag was launched three years ago, it quickly won a legion of fans.
Around the same size as a 50p, the tags are so light they can be attached to almost anything.
They were designed to help people keep track of their own property, particularly when it's lost or stolen.
Costing less than £30, AirTags have reunited their owners with misplaced suitcases and even lost pets.
But the same device has also prompted a lawsuit against Apple in America.

Register them. All Apple communication devices are registered to owners already.
What's one more?
Should all gun or knife manufacturers be brought to court as well? Any well intentioned products can be mis-used.
This is illegal. Frightening
I had one placed on my vehicle so I can track it if it was ever stolen. This actually happened last week, and I was able to track and retrieve it. To have this for only £29 off Amazon and pay nothing further in subscriptions has been invaluable.
Yes, but it's *your* car. So, a couple of times a day the tag on the car is also within range of *your* phone. There's a reasonable pattern of use that Apple should be aware of, leading up to the time your car was stolen. The real obstacle is most likely that Apple don't want to give details of the technology to all the apps programmers on phones that aren't made by Apple. They aren't the only manufacturers of phones but anyone could be victimized using their technology.
@@CC-hx5fzYour sentences are incoherent.

@@CC-hx5fzyou do know apple alerts people to a air tag if its places on your car without you knowing?
I think the blame lies solely with the creeps using them for nefarious reasons.
its ridiculous that people started to know and use them ONLY when Apple announced their own AirTag. Google has their own - Tile tags - for over 10 ; and people didnt bother to buy or use them
marketing.
Fanboy adoration.
@@eattherich9215It’s called straightforward user experience. If it was blind fanboism, Apple would’ve been out of business decades ago.
But keep deluding yourself. Your copium is basically a form of denial.
Google's in the same boat as apple; it just wasn't as easily tracked as it is now...
How on earth is that the fault of Apple? I use them on my dogs in case they go missing/get stolen.
I like the idea of registering the tags in a law-enforcement database, so that police could catch the stalkers. As someone who uses tags for my own possessions, I'd also like to be able to go to the police if my car is stolen, and have Apple disable the tracking notifications until they catch the car thief.
Yes and also stealing vehicles and goods out of vans! These gadgets have made peoples lives hell!
Couldnt u hide them in ur car/ in tools and toolboxes might make it less likely that they get away with ur stuff
@@leemagaming696 i cant exactly hide things in my van or car can i!

Is the warning message only available with Iphones?
-- was just wondering that same...
Also available for android but I think an app has to be downloaded
Air tags and similar devices should be inextricably linked to a parent device such as a phone, laptop or iPad etc via the unique device number. The more I think about this the scarier it is.
You cannot be sued if people misuse a product. Otherwise car manufacturers would be sued for all car crashes. What we need to do is develop a mobile device to detect them. The idea of having a unique ID like a phone would be helpful.
Trust no one and remember their always watching and listening....
We did fine without them, I think they should be banned and tracking should only be allowed within the actual product you buy.
Move on people , you don’t own the person
Making Apple airtags safer does nothing. Plenty of cheaper alternatives lol
Small insignificant amount of problems with these tags. Telling someone they are being tracked whilst having a stolen item makes the Apple Air Tag useless to the consumers. So again 0.0000001% of Apple air tag users affects the majority.
18yrs only?. What a Joke. I put off the Gps on my phone most times....i dont know why but, it does sort of give me a feeling of satisfaction knowing that i can just off it when i dont need it.
You phone is still giving your location.

True....but not.when it is mostly switched off🤣🤣
@@fatimaahmed7249 What's the point of having a phone? 😂
They should sue Tim Berners Lee too for inventing the World Wide Web 😂
I'm surprised that it took them so long to start using
This is why I use Samsung. 😂😂😂
That makes no difference. Someone could plant an Airtag under your car and its not going to magically stop working because the driver uses a Samsung
Oh no kmt this is terrible
I guess the next big thing is another decoy phone if this helps
😶🌫️🍿... some stalkers dont have a clue that it's known when they are stalking someones home or on a person on their days off, or when they leave their homes, that same car always pull up..Again people dont be afraid,God is good all the time

Craaazy!! Beeeyatch
Yeah of you can locate and disable all AirTags that easily all thieves can just steal your stuff and disable the AirTag.
People, nowadays are so engrossed with their phones that they're not really aware of what is happening around them. Be alert in everything you do....keep your eyes and ears open....do you constantly see a "familiar" face? Confront them!!

How exactly is this apples fault
If some people are using apple tags to stalk others that’s there own fault not apples
Use common sense
It's America. The place where if a guy stabs himself with a knife the parents file a lawsuit against the knife company
Apple should make it easier for people to locate any air tags around them. Stop helping the stalkers. Another way is to periodically ask the owners of each air tag where the tag is and what it's being used for. If the tag is consistently not with it's owner that's a red flag. If the tag is consistently around a phone that's registered to a different person, apple could identify who is being stalked before the victim is aware of a problem.
@@CC-hx5fzAre you daft? They do. They even showed how multiple times in the video. Once you find an errant AirTag, you can bring it to law enforcement to have them contact Apple to pull the user ID.
@@BlownMacTruck Is the app that detects the air tag available on all brands of phone?
@@CC-hx5fz Yes.
Fake news 😂
And here is Scotland law against people with privledeged identification being able to make a case if they feel afraid of someone- how are these privliiged people going to be recognised - the un privileged can ignore them - or is that going to be against that law too? Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Sorry right off track here.
I would sue the apple air tag
Which one? There are thousands. They’re also inanimate objects and have no rights as a citizen 😂
