Thanks for this fantastic list! You guys did a great job! I, too, use Bannon Triumph, but as an opener (with false shuffles and cuts beforehand, of course). And, believe it or not, I accidentally ran into The Professor at Steve’s Mile High Magic in Denver in July of 1981. At that chance meeting, he did his Triumph and The Princess Card Trick for a 10 year old boy who had been brought into the shop by his dad, and then they left. I don’t know if the boy ever learned who showed him that card trick. A closer that I’ve been using since 1981 is Martin Nash’s stay stack routine, the one with which he closed his Castle Act. At the end, there are 26 pairs of mates on the table. REALLY hard to beat! I, quite fortunately, saw Martin destroy the audience in the close-up room at The Castle with that effect. That routine was originally put out on videotape by Micky Hades International and is now available on Penguin. Finally, IMHO, my favorite version of 0OTW is Interstellar OOTW by Liam Montier and Big Blind Media. Liam eliminates at least a couple of problems, namely no need to count as you approach the middle of the deck, and the initial color separation. I suggest checking it out!
Tamariz's Neither Blind Nor Stupid is great (especially his performance). It may not be a closer, but it gets the deck ready for OOTW or a full deck O&W.
I'm a huge fan of Michael Ammar. I have all of his videos and books in my library, and he has lectured for our local magic club here in Louisville, Kentucky. That being said, Michael's performance and explanation of J.C. Wagner's 'Super Closure' in his video series 'Easy to Master Card Miracles' Volume #4 is absolutely the best. When I first saw the trick, I thought there's no way I could ever perform it. It's too complicated, too confusing. Oh, how wrong I was! I learned it, I perform it, and it now has a high place in my repertoire.
The Intuition Test. Spectator selects one of two predictions. Cards are shuffled and separated into two stacks of different sizes, spectator chooses which cards are passed back and forth at the end the prediction comes true
@@eriktait434 Both You and Lennert Greene are excellent teachers oh and the Roadrunner cull was pretty amazing as well :) keep putting out the good stuff and I will keep buying it Thanks Erik!
I think 51 cards to pocket would be perfect as a closer if you just leave the cards in the pocket. Instead of an impossible location it just changes to a vanish and now you're done because all the cards are gone. Give the chosen card away, wipe your hands and the shows over. Perfect excuse. Of course, I don't think this would lend itself well in the context of a card-to-pocket ROUTINE because the expectation would be the deck is in the pocket. But if you do JUST the 51 cards and unrelated effects before it, then the audience wouldn't have a predetermined expectation of where the cards are. Best one on the list imo.
Tommy Wonder's version of Ambitious Card where the signed card ends up in a small box that's been sitting untouched at the front of the table in full view of the audience since before the start of the trick. To me nothing beats it and no act could follow it. It is a normal deck, and (according to TW) you only need to ruin about 200 decks to practise the folding of the card. (BTW, I'm way too stingy to do that).
My hope and goal this year is to audition and make the membership to the Magic Castle in LA. How and where can I get help to put an audition together? Thanks!
One thing people constantly overlook is the fact that you can actually do shufflebored from a shuffled deck in use if you know mnemonica and a cull. Within one cull you got your setup ready!
Joshua Jay's version, taught on his second Penguin Live Lecture, requires even less work than that. He performs it standing up, impromptu, with a borrowed shuffled deck and no extra culls or super involved sleight of hand.
@@penguinmagicshop true, but you sadly are restricted in the most important aspect of the routine, the reveal. He cant have a written prediction, which does take away from the potential of the Effekt
I love the podcast feel of these videos! How about a Top 10 Effects for Laughter? Or a top 10 tricks to perform on the person stuck in the elevator with you that takes 30 seconds and leaves them feeling flabbergasted after you exit with no futher explanation?
Guys! Got intrigued by the Norberto Jansenson effect, "Divine," that you discussed, but contrary to what Nick said, it is NOT on Penguin! So any recommended non-Penguin source? I used Google translator to send him a message in Spanish on his website but have not heard back (yet, anyway). Also, can't seem to locate a source for Joseph Barry's, "Out of My World," which you mentioned is available in pamphlet form. He doesn't seem to have a website. I did find that Joseph Barry has a version called, "Out of THIS World" on disk 2 of his $64.00 2-DIsk DVD set, "Inscrutable," but IDK if that is the same version as his "Out of MY World." I also don't want to pay that much for the one effect as from what the description and reviews indicate, most if not all of the rest would be beyond my abilities. For both of these effects all I can find are links to what appear to be full-on pirate websites in China, Great Britain and the U.S. selling discount downloadable copies of the routines. I refuse to buy from them. Thanks!
Omni deck or card-on-ceiling don't really fit the criteria of a closer with a normal deck of cards. You need gimmicks for both of these effects. In 52 cards to pocket you get rid of the deck though.
@@penguinmagicshop okay, I’m not reading “normal” as “borrowed” or “without switching or additions.” Certainly, card to ceiling is just using magician’s wax and Omni is just a switch. I don’t think of those like a gimmick or gimmicked deck trick.
@@markditullio4575 Nick and Erik were hesitant to say that Random odds counted because you need to borrow an ungimmicked cellphone and a bill. Nothing else on the list uses extra gimmicks or objects.

Every Monday at 3 EST Erik goes live. talking about a different chapter in the Royal Road to Card Magic. Every Wednesday at 3 EST Nick goes live talking about the week's newest releases. They go live anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes. Nick dove into the method for Super Lucky Coin last week so it was taken down after about 24 hours. For Erik's you have to catch them live. We streamed a whole magic show from the theater a few weeks ago and only shared it on Facebook. It's still available to watch on our Facebook page.

Surprised that no one suggested card closers that “destroy” or otherwise get rid of the deck. For example, card on ceiling, Omni deck, card stab, etc.
