Hi! I'm Simon's grand-niece. This series is so cool to watch having grown up being amazed by his magic whenever him & my great aunt Ginny visited from Chicago. We miss him very much. It also brings me joy that his work lives on and y'all continue to enjoy what he loved to do. :)
Like the comment about style and procedure; I think the procedure is now hidden differently as a story or antecdotes or simply demonstrating the procedure you want the spectator to enact which keeps the beats a little quicker and tighter, imo.
I would love a Ricky Jay one also. I normally don’t like ‘_____ reacting to _______’ videos but LOVE the comments and analysis- the references have sent me new places too when I don’t know a magician, plot or sleight. Would love a Charlie miller one too.
If you enjoyed Simon's Birthday card effect, check out Ed Marlo, he has a similar effect. This was during a lecture in which he had a woman in audience name any card in the deck. Marlo then slowly showed the back of each card in the deck having different men's names. Marlo asked her what her name was. He turned her named card over, it had her name. The only card with a woman's name. If you can find Marlo's lecture notes, "Thirty-five years later" or the video, it is there. I don't know the name of the effect, sorry, my vhs player is down and I can't watch the video currently.

Yes, he gave us such a gift. We will miss him.
I've read some of his books but I've never seen him perform, so thanks for this. This is the best UA-cam magic channel by far.

Awesome trix. I'd not seen the Birthday Card. I assume it's taught on the L&L video! I'll go look...Love Aronson's work. He's as crafty as Hamman.
Have you done a video on Vernon yet?

Can still purchase at Penguin Magic.
