- 2024 has been kind of a rocky year for Star Trek Online, but we actually got some pretty decent ships out of it.

Even though the fortress mode was sorta gimicky and underpowered, the one saving grace for me is that, just like the jellyfish mode on the Cnidarian, when it activated you are basically immune to the Mokai's stupid viral impulse overload ability.
Sometimes it's not about performance but what you enjoy
The Hirogen ship can look genuinely evil with the right vanity shield, Sec. 31 and Ba'ul make it look like a covert ops strike ship, or something in the vein of Battlestar Galactica.
Happy new year Stu!
A side note on Science Destroyers, while I agree with you on the Mechanic more now than I used to as my list of available ships has grown considerably.
However early on when your ship choice is limited there is a special niche value as the tactical mode has no time limit so you are getting both an escort and a sci ship for a single zen cost.
Happy new year...here's to a good 25 hopefully
That Arthurian ship looks like they just released the geometric graphics stand in that they used instead of the ship.
Happy New Year man! Thanks for posting awesome STO content. You, SAB, and MC Stu are awesome.
Hmmm? I wonder lore wise, looking at the brick that is the Typhon “Escort Carrier”. Escort Carriers were an actual thing during WW2. They were smallish carriers built using fast cheap easy to build merchant hull designs. Their main purpose as designed was to escort convoys to England and carry carrier based anti-sub patrol bombers in order to close the mid Atlantic gap, where land based planes could not search for U-boats. They turned out to be far more useful than their original design documents ever imagined. Becoming fondly known as “Jeep Carriers”. They got all the more utilitarian jobs. Freeing up the big fast fleet carriers. From aircraft ferry duty to Marine Invasion air support. Anyway TLDR to say, the Typhon looks like it was based on a converted Merchant Ship Design. Just like the real world Escort Carriers.
You can’t forget to mention the Type 7s on the Awahnee as well!
oh my god, i can't believe I forgot to mention the Type 7s!
"If it's a good looking federation ship make it science" - STO devs, probably
I love how on the Atlantis even the nacelles look like phasers.
Should do a remix of ‘we didn’t start the fire’ but with all the STO ships
Happy new year Stu!

I still maintain that there never should have been a thing as “Science carriers” all of them should have been tactical focused.
Because in reality, a dedicated Carrier would NEVER be a science vessel. It would be a tactical vessel.
Happy new year Mr. Oddyssey top hat man!
I love me some Connie derivitives and that Kelvin Constitution II is possibly one of the best and actually a Kelvin design I like. I don't care if it isn't the best ship ever - I can make it work. I'm looking forward to using my Event Campaign token on it😁
Well I'm glad someone like it lol
and yes, you can certainly make it work. thats true for just about any t6 ship. the build is far more important than the ship itself.
Apparently the USS Voyager-A was at one point going to be a Vesta Class... I wish we go that on Prodigy.
The Duderstadt broke my heart, and i would have done anything for cryptic to go back and make that ship decent.....
Main reason it wasn't a playable ship was that the original Typhoon was ugly as sin, and the ship likely was meant to be upgraded even early on but then the Odessey turned up.
Something I am looking forward to after seeing the stats of the Duderstadt is to not treat it as a spearhead but as a full-on DEW build. I know that's frowned upon simply by the fact that the ship is labelled as a science spearhead, but... Miracle Worker and Pilot can be a decent combination for DEW because of two other traits in the game: Cold Hearted (from T6 Breen escort event ship) and Controlled Countermeasures (reputation space trait). Cold Hearted is triggered by Aux2Bat and Pilot abilities, and the "Slow" effect of this trait is considered a Control... which triggers Controlled Countermeasures granting 9.4% Bonus damage to energy weapons. I can't remember if the other control-based reputation space traits are triggered by Cold Hearted (Saru's Grace specifically) but they might be.
I know it's not a Meta combination, but I do think it has potential as a damage stacking set up. Combining Cold Hearted and these other traits with Mixed Arms and Narrow Sensor Bands just sounds so fun to me as well.
*EDIT* Oh I almost forgot, it does the expected 5 science console slots but it also has 4 engineering ones, which can be added up to 7 consoles at X2 thanks to this being a MW ship, making it viable with Isomags too.
Honestly, a pure DEW build would likely do better on the Duderstadt because of its seating, despite it being a Sci Spearhead. That why I've always been puzzled why they didn't just make it a cruiser, the spec seating is much better suit for that.
Small tip: unless you're reliant on Aux2Bat to improve your boff cooldowns, it'd ditch it. Cold Hearted is pretty dated at this point, I'd trade it for something else that improves damage or also applies a damage res debuff (or you could keep it and just rely on Pilot abilities to trigger it). Even on non-Sci builds, Aux power can be pretty important for certain abilities, and even some consoles, like Fleet Power Network Array, feed off Aux, so you generally want your Aux power where it is.
@Stu1701 I have a fleet member that is using the Duderstate trait with OSS, and the onboard dilithum re-crystalizer lockbox trait. This paired with 9 or 19 of 24 (i think), and the EPS manifold of the t1 oberth. All of his power level stay capped to the max. His La Sarena hit 650k dps. (Yes he has uncon and the vovan console also)
When I get Lamarr ship it will become my flagship still deciding on the name.
On the heritage side would be great if they did some from the klingon and Romulan ships, the D3 and the Centurion warbird look fabulous
the only science destoryers I have ore teh dysons and the t6 titan, which were also the only ones I wanted
Stu nothing in this world is free, and when a Furrie is giving you "free" ships, be afraid, be VERY afraid XD
I was really hoping we would get the steamrunner with two sabers as wingmen
The Legendary Sovereign should have been a battle cruiser... >:{
I hope we get a mirror odyssey in 2025
as long as it's a 5/3 Flight Deck Carrier with Intel/Pilot seating (or Command/Pilot)
@@Stu1701yeah I agree I wish the Lexington had that but I just want an odyssey with the the Terran logos on it
It's too bad there was no Connie III variant this year. Here's hoping to 2025!!!
Both from fleet command
Id argue Kar'Fi/Gok'tad as Escort Carriers...
Gok'tad has a Commander Sci seat instead of Tactical, so no, it's still a Sci Carrier, just a more Tactical-leaning one. Same with the T5 Kar'Fi.
The winter event ship is tiny

NOT a very "fun" Fun Fact if you ask me. 😅
You and CASUAL SAB copying each other's homework? Watching and enjoying both just the same, love both your channels.
We don't coordinate on videos. I did see his and saw not only did he have a similar idea, he even had a similar thumbnail, which is a bit unfortunate. Might change mine with a different screenshot.
That said, my video's bigger lol
@Stu1701 yes it is and BIGGER is Better lol
