    I love Dr Barnard he is a wonderful human being and doctor and cares about helping people. He is one of the people instrumental in saving my life and helping me lose all my weight and get on a plant-based diet. He makes me smile every time I see him and all I have for him is love in my heart.

    I've been vegan for thirty years. The first 10, I was certainly wfpb. The last twenty, not so much. Over the last six years I've developed asthma. I've recently decided, after a particularly bad six months, (and I don't know whether I'm remotely correct) that the asthma is a precursor to the onset of heart disease and I've subsequently gone back to wfpb.
    It's been a month now that I've been strict, and the asthma has vanished. My suspicion is that, as menopause closes in, I literally can not eat how I used to and remain healthy. My body doesn't particularly care whether I live or die at this stage of my life, and so if I want to continue living, and to live well, I need to protect it as much as possible.

    As dr. Garth Davis explained GLP, only the fat that is in the plant cell is protected enough to hit the GLP receptor which makes it give the signal. All other fats are digested before they hit this receptor at the end of the small intestine. This was said by dr. Garth Davis during his Ozempic talk on Physician's Committee.

    Dr. Barnard, is animal fat ever good to use like sparingly? Eggs, milk, yogurt, kefir? Or do you think the body can do better without it?

    Thought berries and bananas together are a no-go now bc of polyphenol oxidase?!

      @@codebloodyarrow Yes as a general rule that seems to be the Case now. There may be ways to mitigate that by adding citrus or heating the banana to destroy the enzyme or even freezing it.

    I can't justify eating the fake meat with all the stuff on the back of the package with the chemical names. My question is why are you promoting consuming that stuff?

      @@shawnpitts4256 who is promoting consuming fake meat? We promote whole plant foods such as legumes, greens, greens, fruits, veggies, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices and a variety of each. And of those there are tens if not hundreds of thousands of plant options to choose from and tailor your diet to your specific needs and desires.
