Hey Robin! I love watching your videos as I'll be studying in Tsinghua for the next fall semester :D as well as living on-campus dorms (hopefully). Here I have some questions: -Do you have free wifi on your dorm? -Do you recommend me to buy a Chinese mobile with a Chinese phone number and Internet as well as my iPhone 6s or only using my iPhone 6s with my normal phone number? -Can you buy online goods and ask to receive them where you live even if you're not exactly in the dorm when it arrives? -Is there any free app for free VPN that works well? -What do you recommend to me if I don't know Chinese (yet)? Thank you for taking your time :D
Hi there! Thanks for watching! -Free wifi till 20gb and 60yuan till 50gb. -Definitely get a chinese phone number with 4g.. 6s is just fine (i'm using 6s plus).. -ordering to the dorm will not arrive to your building but they have post office in campus where u can pickup ur package -Would not recommend free vpn, slow and often blocked. Find one with several servers available -Install Pleco app. best offline translator imo Happy upcoming semester :)
Robin He 2 more questions! -what banks are there in Tsinghua University to open bank accounts for foreigners? Is it easy to open one? -is it needed a bicycle to move around there? If so, is it cheap buying it on campus? Could I sell it at the same place when leaving China? Thanks again 😁 can't wait to be there!
Bank of China is in Campus.. Bike shops are all over the campus and would say that its must have. Paid 200yuan and I have no intentions to sell it cause its almost totalled :D
Filippo Muzzi There are three comm companies here: 1.china mobile with the TD LTE which uses band 39+ that your phone probably doesn't support it. But since iPhone 6s they support all the bands. But Chinese version start supported it since 5s. 2. China Unicom. It uses WCDMA and LTE FDD that it's the one used globally which means every phone supports it. So if ur phone doesn't support TDLTE, just choose the service from Chinaunicom. 3. China telecom providing CDMA+FDDLTE. So if u are using cdma phones you can continue using it under this provider. That's it
Hey Robin, just subbed to your channel, awesome videos, I'm doing vlogging as well and I'm also moving to Beijing, China in 5 weeks time, so if you want to collab in the future just drop me a message!
Ah that's unfortunate... :/ If you are in China or the UK some time in the future just drop me a message because I would love to have an interview with you about your experience!
