      Please, do not use Branch's physique as an example for why slin causes lack of muscular separation. The reason Branch looks like "a blob of muscle" is because he is riddled with injuries due to his training style.
      The man puts work in, look back around 15 years ago if you want to see him in his prime pre injury.

    • @RippedMoFuCk
      @RippedMoFuCk 7 років тому +3

      I agree on Justin Compton slin use limiting his muscular development in his abs region. You can really tell its underdeveloped there, probably because he cant contract his abs through a proper range of motion because of his organs/distended stomach.

    You don't need to ban anything. Simply make the vacuum a mandatory pose and penalize guys the FUCK out of the competition if they come in with fat bellies and the rest of it.

    • @evangodbee2425
      @evangodbee2425 7 років тому +10

      That is a terrible idea. Some people, actually most people don't have the genetic structure to perform the vacuum and actually make it look good. Even back in the golden era only a few guys could pull it off well

    • @Tomn8er
      @Tomn8er  7 років тому +25

      Evan Godbee it is a concern but the vacuum is a technique that can be learned by anyone. The ribcage can also expanded through exercises like pullovers to accentuate the effect. Not all golden age bodybuilders did it because frankly they didn't have to. If they made it a mandatory pose however guys would be forced to shape up

      I agree, Believe in Yourself. Bodybuilders in the 1970s, 1980s, and up to the early nineteen nineties were not only proportioned very well, but had that V shape, and looked very wide because of a smaller waistline! I think that what Tomn8er explained about insulin causing this enlarged abdominal condition could be the culprit; one of the main reasons for this distended condition of the midsection.

      That said; I have to wonder whether today's bodybuilder is somewhat a product of today's permissiveness/acceptance of one's being overweight. Perhaps, bodybuilding reflects the (extreme) values of society and not the other way around.

      Exactly, be honest, who would you rather look like, Arnold, giant arms, chest, TINY WASTE, looked like a man and girls liked him, or Coleman, legs rubbing together with a giant stomach, looking fat year round, Bodybuilding is SICK, I hate it, used to love it, I don't want to see some freak, it's supposed to be a man, but with extreme muscle and balance, today and for some time the biggest won, I'd NEVER want to look like Cutler, for what? Girls think it's sick, it's very dangerous on the heart and other organs, it's just a joke. Serge Nubret, Arnold, that's something to aspire to, but being so huge your uncomfortable, have to wear clothes for fat guys, no thanks

    THE JUDGES RUINED BODYBUILDING

    • @SovereignStatesman
      @SovereignStatesman 4 роки тому +17

      It wasn't the judges, it was the SPONSORS who want people to believe that protein-shakes and food-supplements like Met-Rx; can _actually_ produce results that are 40% above the top 1% of the human genome, as seen onstage.
      So when IFBB and others began enforcing drug-tests, the sponsors all threatened to withdraw their support; since the contestants all looked like Gollums with the "natty" look, vs. the monster-physiqes that only PED's can produce.
      So of course the IFBB and everyone else, replaced their drug-testing lab with garbage cans, and just rubber-stamped the results; and suddenly Bruce Banner turned into the Hulk.
      Money talks and bullshit poses.

    This is the best video I've seen on UA-cam. I have followed bodybuilding since 1989, and you have described perfectly what has gone wrong with bodybuilding with insulin usage. Ripped glutes and hamstrings, yet the rest of the body is very smooth and blury. The volume of the muscle has increased dramatically from the 80s and early 90s, but the density and condition of the muscle is very poor.
    Before insulin usage, when a bodybuilder hit a pose the muscle would come alive with striations, you just don't see that anymore. You now have bodybuilders on stage with bloated faces, whereas years ago they looked as though they were at deaths door with sunken cheeks through dieting.

    GH actually burns body fat and keeps you lean, but it also lowers insulin sensitivity. The growth factor of GH is when it converts into IGF in the liver which causes muscle hyperplasia. Exogenous insulin is used because some of these guys are eating 1000+ grams of carbohydrates a day and with lowered insulin sensitivity due to high GH doses, the pancreas simply cannot make enough insulin to store the carbs as glycogen into the cells so exogenous insulin must be used. Insulin also greatly increases the bodies ability to synthesize protien because the protien/aminos in the blood will piggy back onto the carbs as they will also enter the cell at a higher rate from exogenous insulin administration. The problem these guys have is excess carbohydrates intake to fill out spilling over when the cells are full and making the body look soft -glycogen is 75% water so that explains the "soft" look. It is a very tricky process to fill out "carb up" for a show, especially when "supercharging" the process with insulin administration and the look can vary greatly by the hour. Timing the carb intake, amount of carbs, insulin dose, and diuretic use is different for every person. GH use is often stopped during the last week prior to a show as it can cause bloating and water retention. Also, lowered insulin sensitivity caused by high GH doses added with higher than normal insulin dosing which will be necessary to store extreme carbohydrate intake will cause higher than normal fat storage, including visceral fat which results in abdominal distention. Proper use of insulin and GH is not the problem.

  • @2face789
    @2face789 7 років тому +155

    It's not dificult to explain. Insulin causes visceral fat in the gut. It's basically a bear gutt. Insulin causes the body to stop burning fat and makes the liver convert sugar from the blood into fat. The liver deposits the fat around the liver in the gutt area. Bodybuilders probably combine insulin with fast carbohydrate like dextrose or something. Even a bowl of pasta or rice combined with insulin will probably result in more visceral fat.
    So insulin plus excessive carp intake = bubble gutt. The reason they don't cut down on carps is probably because they can't see the fat. They are still shredded.
    You can probably remove visceral with some kind of advanced liposuction though. I bet there are doctors that can do it.

    insulin is actually needed when running high amounts of HGH because high dosages of HGH causes hyper-glycemia (and insulin lowers blood sugar so its needed), plus insulin is synergistic with HGH and causes a higher production of IGF-1 (insulin like growth factor) which is responsible for cell growth (and muscle growth). However IGF-1 repairs ALL cells, so if you have more IGF-1 that is needed for muscle repair the IGF-1 will be signaled to repair and grow all the muscles involved in the gut and digestive track. This is where the 'bubble gut' comes from, excessive amounts of IGF-1 swelling up the cells of the intestines (this can go away, just like muscles can get smaller and go away as well, bubble guts come and go , it grows just like a muscle and can shrink back down just like muscle).

    • @Tomn8er
      @Tomn8er  7 років тому +2

      Interesting information. I had always heard that intestinal growth as a result of HGH is irreversible. Perhaps this is wrong. I'll need to do more research.

    • @traingear9578
      @traingear9578 7 років тому +20

      the body contains "voluntary" muscle fibers (like biceps that we can contract by telling them to with our mind) and "involuntary" muscles that are autonomous and contract and work all on their own. The intestines and stomach wall is filled with involuntary muscle fiber which is needed for digestion. hgh and insulin together amplify IGF-1 and igf-1 stimulates cell swelling/growth of both muscle types. but all muscle fiber cells can swell up and engorge and shrink back up as well. a 300 pound body builder can shrink back down to a 200 pound guy. an over stimulated digestive muscle system that is 'full' and engorged from growth factors can shrink back down as well once the stimulus subsides...high doses of HGH with insulin can over produce IGF-1 and add that with a high calorie diet that really works the stomach and intestinal muscles and growth of the stomach happens... just my thoughts. great vid btw

    I have an unusual, eccentric reason for using insulin the last 12 years, I have diabetes. I know crazy right. I use nothing else, I'm not a bodybuilder. I can say though that insulin use will distort, distend and swell ur gut beyond all proportionality regarding bf%. I'm at 13% bf (I've always been lean, this is the most obese I've been in my life) but my gut looks like it should be 25%. Imho its insulin that's causing this effect in bodybuilders. Oh and sustained insulin use in someone that doesn't have diabetes will ruin their pancreatic function irreversibly, diabetes for life.

    I've been watching bodybuilding for about 30 years.You're right,they look worse.The bubble gut bulks are not the graceful cut champions of the past.You're right.Most of the bodybuilders now tend to have a sameness to their appearance.Everything maxed out,and huge.But with a lack of separation to the muscle groups.They lack the distinctiveness of the individual physiques.
    I think the overload of drugs is causing an ugly bloated look that is now so common.I suspect you're right about insulin being the culprit.I've listened to Dave Palumbo enough to understand that there is a connection between taking GH,and insulin.
    Apparently taking GH will cause insulin resistance.Then they start taking insulin.That combo is the problem.
    Pro bodybuilders taking AAS is stressful enough.But there seem to be less severe health problems,and early deaths from the 60's-80's era.When they started adding the GH + Insulin,the mass level went way up.The early fatalities went up too.I'm thinking of someone like Nasser El Sonbaty.Of course the over use of Diuretics like lasix was very dangerous.Look up Andreas Munzer.The increasing bulk with the demand to be ripped has gone too far.That extremity is impressive.But it's not worth the damage.

    Insulin is known to preferentially increase visceral body fat, especially in the mid section. It’s been known for a long time. Insulin resistance (where our muscles and liver become resistant but our adipose tissue remains sensitive to insulin) is the likely cause of middle aged people’s obesity and bigger guts as we age.

    • @andoletube
      @andoletube 4 роки тому +3

      Not correct. With insulin resistance the adipose tissue is resistant to insulin. That's why blood sugar levels rise - because the sugar isn't able to be stored as fat effectively. The muscles can only store so much glycogen, it's the fat cells that do the bulk of the energy storage. If adipose tissue remained sensitive to insulin, we would not observe a rise in blood sugar at all.

      Applying that logic, you're saying that bodybuilders are not digesting their food, or that they eat harder to digest food. Or that bodybuilders are incredibly constipated.
      It's not from food, and if it were, then these guys would simply take a pre-contest diuretic a day beforehand, to clean out the intestines and have a super-slim waist which would decimate all competitors. It's a nice attempt on explaining their distended abdomens, but it's nonsense.

      In my opinion it was Ronnie Coleman who destroy bodybuilding, or I should say judges who gave him Mr. Olympia title in 2000. Till 1999 bodybuilding was still pleasent to eyes, but 2000 was like breaking some point. Insulin, synthol, and GH are the worst things in bodybuilding. My favoritue bodybuilders are Rich Gaspari, Lee Priest, Kevin Levrone, Mohamed Benazziza and Frank Zane when he was young. I dont like his shape of last years of his profesional carere. I understand that there is a tell tale split between the abs. One thing I wanted to point out is that I used to be 400 pounds and am currently around 290. In that same area I have a dominant bubble area where I just stretched that (forgot what that membrane is called). I thought I had a hernia but the surgeon told me I didn’t need surgery. I could keep training and that it was from extremely stretching that material in the middle of my abs right above my belly button and is a few inches long and at least an inch or more wide. When I do crunches it protrudes outwards. Not saying Lee Haney was 400 pounds and got into shape. Just pointing out that besides loose skin you can screw up your ab section by letting your weight get so out there it can’t always find it’s way back

    It is the insulin. I see this a lot with my father whose diabetic. He was a Greco-Roman wrestler in his younger days and he was in great shape. When he became diagnosed with diabetes, he lost alot of weight and became very skinny. When he was prescribed Lantus, his stomach would become larger, as if he ate a really big meal and it would stay that way for a day or sometimes 2 days after the injection. That never happened to him pre-diabetes. My father's blood sugars are under control so he's in good shape now but he's smaller in comparison to his younger days but the bubble guts are the result of insulin abuse. Injecting insulin means that the body breaks down the foods and processes the nutrients much faster. The danger is that the blood sugars get very low which is fatal and since these guys aren't diabetic, that's double the amount of insulin they need which increases the odds of a fatality.

    Ive seen a few articles and videos that show the bubble gut, is from fat stored behind the muscle wall of the stomach muscles.Visceral fat. Basically all of their organs are surrounded and compressed by fat. So instead of the fat being on the outside of the muscles its under the muscle. It probably is the drugs they are taking that is causing their bodies to build excessive Visceral fat plus all of the calories they consume.
    Visceral fat: Visceral fat, or abdominal fat, is a type of body fat that exists in the abdomen and surrounds the internal organs. Everyone has some, especially those who are sedentary, chronically stressed, or maintain unhealthy diets. A different type of fat - subcutaneous fat - which builds up under the skin, has less of a negative impact on health and is easier to lose than visceral fat. In fact, excessive deposits of visceral fat are associated with many serious health problems including cardiovascular disease, types 2 diabetes, and increased blood pressure. Though it is possible to lose, it requires a larger commitment than spot exercises, like sit ups or crunches; a combination of cardiovascular activity and a lean diet is typically required

    I've had to look up insulin and its effects on muscle, strength, and conditioning. I use insulin daily and i've noticed changes in my body from insulin combined with nutrition and weight lifting. I've wondered why its taken similar bodybuilding effects like the prego belly. Now your probably wondering why I take insulin, I am a diabetic and need it to live. Yet I have noticed when I cut weight along with carbs and fat my need for insulin reduces due to lower weight and lower consumption and my belly tapers off. Why am I saying all this, well because since bodybuilders continue to inject insulin the danger of current day bodybuilders that either don't know (and if they do they ignore it) that use insulin for a prolonged amount of time will eliminate the pancreases production of insulin in the Islets of Langerhans. They just die and don't ever come back they cannot be fixed and cannot ever regenerate. That is the long and short they will be insulin dependent and be diagnosed with adult on set diabetes there is no maybe or if, it will be a matter of when it happens it is a 100% guarantee to happen. it does need to stop for the sake of their health primarily and disgusting look yet its very hard because its undetectable and legal to purchase without a prescription from your local wal-mart target even Costco pharmacy. Great info and great video btw to bring awareness

    After watching this video it clear to see its the insulin and not GH causing the big guts. Its also why they can get rid of there big guts is because its not the organs growing but the visceral fat around the organs. This is also causing the smoothness and lack of seperation, the insulin is keeping the fat in the muscles even though they dieted down.
