This is a thorough strategy guide. It really provides well analyzed steps you can take to have a strong start. There aren’t many videos out there that actually go in-depth with such details. Thanks
I'm really enjoying these presentations, which I think are very useful for newer players to think constructively about what they should try to accomplish during their turn(s). Sol is the quintessential "new player faction" because it is very straight-forward and quite flexible in terms of adopting various strategies. I would suggest that in terms of going down a green tech path, you'll get more mileage out of Psychoarchaeology vs. DA if you have a number of tech skips in your slice or at the equidistants. Hypermetabolism combines well with the Versatile faction ability giving the Sol player 4 CCs per status phase, which can fuel an amazing later turn with the Helio Command Array. Thank you for the videos! 🖖
Hi Thomas, thank you for the kind words. I agree that psychoarchaeology is an overall better technology. I went with DA because of the strong and easy to understand synergy with the faction :) And if you want to follow Thomas good suggestion you can watch this short video about psychoarchaeology here ua-cam.com/users/shortsozNavIlkeKM?feature=share
Thanks for your kind words and feedback. The sound has been a struggle, but I think it got better in the more recent videos. Otherwise please let me know 👍
Yes, you are right. If Diplo is played after we gained control of the planet, we could choose to unexhaust it (with one more) on the 2nd of that, and then Technology had to be played afterwards :)
so, wait - (I just purchased the game) - when you Oribital Dropped your Infantry (6:59), did you produce them, or do you just get them when you play a Command Token? Are the 2 infantry "free"?
I didn't produce them. You simply get them when you spend that 1 command counter from your strategy pool. The distinction is important as other game or faction abilities may kick in when you use the Production ability. Those game or faction abilities cannot be used with the Orbital Drop ability as the Infantry simply just appear :)
@@essersgamingcave thank you! I am excited to play this with my kids (they also enjoy board games & we want to try this one) - I might be able to "sneak" on them as the Federation! 😄

You're welcome! I'm happy to hear that you could use this guide :)
Thanks for this! This game can be hard to learn, bringing this into my 2nd play tomorrow!!
You are so welcome! Please, do let me know how it went :)
Me too! Hopefully, victory awaits us both!!!
Great guide! I think there are a lot of good tips for just game play in general watching these.
Thank you!

Great video. Love what your doing. The audio can be a bit soft in some areas making it hard to hear your voice.

In your green tech example, wouldn't it be possible to untap the planet if diplomacy is played after? It's not a big chance but ...

but why leave a fighter at home?
It won't help much in the home system, so yeah probably bring that along as well :)
hold on, I never realised, the advanced carrier has sustain dmg
It's by far the best carrier in the game, just be careful if you decide to sustain damage with it. Direct Hit action cards will destroy them :)
can you have microphone closer to your mouth?
Yes, thanks for the feedback. That mic did cause me some troubles
