    Hi Kathleen. Kudos to you for taking on defining eclectic style. Kind of like trying to nail Jello to a tree, isn't it? I really like the way you do your mood boards, which are very helpful in visualizing the styles. For me, eclectic includes an element of surprise--combining things that don't seem to go together but look good when it's done. Also, I think contrast is important (I think you mentioned that) in color, texture, and line--a lot of the things that are important in many styles, but maybe exaggerated in eclectic style. Thanks so much for doing this series. I find it so interesting and helpful.

      Great insights Linda! I agree completely and yes, it’s a bit difficult to explain, haha. But so much fun. It’s a much more “feeling” style, isn’t it? For me, there is not a clear picture in my head…just playing around until it looks good.

    I love when you used the phrase 'beautifully random' and then also deliberate - it does confirm that what I believe about my own style - that it is eclectic! But then of course I can do other styles to suit the purpose of the journal 😍 I was secretly hoping you were going to choose the cover material with the pattern that looked like a chicken head?? Not sure what it was was though but looked cool! I look forward to your video on mixing patterns as I have always wondered if there were any 'rules' / guidance around that - thanks Kathleen!

    Thank you, Kathleen. This style will be really interesting to watch develop as it’s one that I struggle to define. You have already provided valuable information on the topic! I look forward to seeing what you use to create pockets and tucks and then the journaling pieces. You are relying on colour as a co-ordinating factor. Is that a true statement? 😀💞

    • @BeAgainBooks
      @BeAgainBooks  2 місяці тому

      You are so welcome Keryn! Thanks for watching this morning. I usually rely on color to unify things - it’s kind of a fall back, I guess 😁 In the absence of a theme of some kind, color is really the easiest way to harmonize everything. But the unique thing about a successful eclectic style is that the very act of putting all kinds of disparate items together makes a kind of whole in subtle ways that I don’t really understand. It seems to be in the eye of the artist. Some people are just really good at it, you know?
