Thank you, Kathleen. This video is very informative and covers what seems to me, a very difficult topic to discuss. I would be stumbling for words and struggling to keep my thoughts organised. You did a fantastic job delivering this subject with the use of the examples. I will be rewatching and am so grateful that you have added these videos to a playlist. 😀💞

I've watched hundreds of journal-making videos over the last few years, and no one else I've seen explains things so clearly and thoroughly as you do, Kathleen. This is one of the best I've seen! Having examples to illustrate your lessons helps to coalesce nebulous thoughts when choosing pages and makes the process much easier. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. This one is a keeper!

I am absolutely loving this series of videos and particularly this one. I have lots of paper pads with beautiful bold and large patterns, which is probably what attracted me to them, but just never knew how to incorporate them in a journal. You did an amazing job presenting and explaining this concept. Your videos have really helped me grow as a journal maker and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. You are truly a gifted teacher ❤ Thank you 😊

This is helpful! Sometimes I am hesitant to put patterns together, and only use one pattern, next to neutral coffee dyed paper, but your combinations help me to see that I can make more bold choices.

Hooray for bold choices - yes! I hope you will try it. There is nothing wrong with feeling safe or going with what you already feel looks good, but sometimes it really is fun to take a bolder chance. Have fun!

Kathleen, you did a great job of teaching the theory of how to use patterns. As someone else said, I tend to go with what I feel is "right," but it's great to hear the reasons behind why it works. You are a wonderful teacher and I have learned so much from you. And what a pleasant surprise to know that you will be using the happy mail I sent to make an eclectic journal. I'm excited to see how it turns out. In your hands, I know it will be great.

Interesting! For me, you have taken something that has always been just a feeling to me and put words to it. When I see the combinations you are presenting they either "feel" right or not. I find that my "feelings" often match up to your reasoning and I find it interesting that there is actually a reasoned methodology behind my "unreasoned emotional states". Don't know if I have the brain power to remember all this, but I sure do appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!

As a quilter, all these principals apply. One color I usually avoid in a quilt is yellow, even a small amount will try to take over 😊. One thing that helps is that each fabric line is usually designed with the work of design pattern and color done already. And the same with a scrapbook pad. Very interesting video ❤.
