I am also a super beginner. I’ve been trying to learn the granny square since I was 17. I’m 68. I have been able to make just one in all those years. As soon as I managed to make a partial square I would get distracted by something else and when I came back to it I wouldn’t remember a thing. Maybe this times the charm. Good luck to you.
that was the first granny square i did. this video taught me all the terms and all the ways about crochet. your videos are amazing and your patterns are so easy to follow. i almost gave up bc other youtubers’ videos were so confusing and they didnt have any easy pattern to follow. thank you so much❤ and can you please do moon granny square tutorial? ❤

This was so easy to follow and it would have turned out if I hadn’t MISSED A STITCH. I’m going to try again and improve since my square turned inward but that’s because I pulled the string🤦🏼♀️ anyways I’m sure it will turn out better but thanks for the tut ❤
You're welcome!🥰 It's completely normal to encounter a few challenges, especially as a beginner. Don't worry about missing a stitch or the square turning inward-it's all part of the learning process. You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial! 🌼 Yes, you can definitely stitch the solid granny square together with the daisy granny square! They’ll look beautiful combined. If you need any tips on how to join them, just let me know! Happy crafting! 🧶✨
Thank you so much for another amazing tutorial 🩷 I want to make a solid border around this square, how do I do that? Do I single crochet all the way around and make 3 sc, chain 2, 3 sc in the corners? I still want to make it a perfect square and would love your advice on how to do it 😊🌼
You're very welcome, and I'm glad you enjoyed the tutorial!🥰 Adding a solid border to your square is a great idea. You're on the right track with single crocheting around the square and making 3 single crochets, chain 2, 3 single crochets in the corners. This will help maintain the square shape while adding a neat border. Just continue single crocheting evenly along each side, making sure to work the corner stitches as you described. Feel free to adjust the number of stitches or chains in the corners if needed to keep the square shape. Happy crocheting, and I'm here if you have any further questions! 🌟🧶
Hi🤗 Thank You very much. The thickness of the yarn and your gauge will determine how big the square will be. I believe this is approx. 4 x 4 inches. I am a 4.5 mm. hook
I’ve never seen anyone attach yarn by tying it on the way you do. Is there a particular reason you prefer this method to the typical “make a slip knot and attach to space” method?
The choice of attaching yarn can vary among different crocheters. I have just always used this method. And therefore find it the most easy to do. Ultimately, the choice between these methods comes down to personal preference, the type of project, and the desired aesthetic. Feel free to experiment with both methods and use the one that works best for you and your specific project. Happy crocheting! 🧶✨
You're very welcome! 🥰I'm excited for you to start your project. If you ever have any more questions or need assistance along the way, feel free to reach out. Happy crafting! 😊🧵🌟
Thank you so much for your comment🥰 I'm thrilled to hear that you find the tutorial amazing! The number of squares needed for a cardigan depends on various factors such as the size of the squares, the desired size of the cardigan, and your preferred layout. As a general guideline, you might want to plan out the dimensions of your cardigan and then calculate how many squares will fit across the width and height. Keep in mind that you'll also need squares for sleeves, and you may want to create additional squares for the back and front panels. I recommend making a small sample square, measuring it, and then determining the size and layout of your cardigan. Once you have these details, you can estimate the total number of squares needed. Adjustments can be made based on your preferences for fit and style. 😊🧶
Such a nice and easy tutorial to follow! I love your yarn colors. This is the first I've seen someone start the corner (the first 3 stitches) then move around the circle and finish with the last stitches of the first corner. Is that just personal preference or is there something I'm missing about why this might be a better way?
Thank you very much for your comment. I use this method for a nice and seamless look. While this method is a matter of preference different patterns and tutorials may teach slightly varied techniques, and the choice may depend on the specific design or desired outcome. Ultimately, as long as your granny square turns out the way you like it, you can choose the method that suits you best. Experimenting with different techniques can also be a great way to learn and discover your personal crochet style. Happy crocheting! 😊🧶
I'm so glad you're enjoying the tutorial! 😊 To add one more row to the square, you can follow the same pattern as the previous rows, just increasing the number of double crochets in each corner. Yes, the average double crochet square pattern should work perfectly here. Since you have 5 yarn colors, you can either continue with the current color sequence or mix it up for the final row to add a pop of variety. Have fun with your project! 🧶✨
Hi, Beautiful tutorial and so well explained. Though I'm a very newbie to crochet, I could totally understand everything you explained and this gives me so much joy. I would like to ask you about a problem I face when doing the magic loop. Firstly, if I want to do a slip knot and then chain 4 and crochet double crochet in the circle and then fasten, fine enough. However, if I want to do the magic loop and crochet double crochet in the circle, when I'm about to join the last stitch and I have to pull the tail to close the circle, it's impossible to pull all the yarn tail, and as a result, I can't close the circle. What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your time and help.
Thank you for your kind words, and I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying learning crochet! It sounds like you're having a bit of trouble with closing the magic loop. Here are a few tips that might help: Adjust the Loop Size: When you create the magic loop, make sure to leave a longer tail than you think you'll need. This will give you more yarn to pull on when closing the loop. Loosen Your Stitches: Sometimes, if your stitches are too tight, it can be difficult to close the loop. Try to crochet your stitches a bit looser when working into the magic loop. Use Your Fingers: As you finish crocheting your stitches into the loop, use your fingers to hold onto the loop and the working yarn. This will help keep everything in place while you pull on the tail to close the loop. Practice Patience: It might take a few tries to get the hang of closing the magic loop smoothly. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't work perfectly the first time. Keep practicing, and you'll get the hang of it! If you're still having trouble, feel free to ask. I'm here to assist you!
Hi Marie, thank you so much for your response. Not very sure, but I think I got it. I made some sample following your example of the centered crochet (the green color). It came out beautiful. I made another sample, following same steps, but instead of doing 16 double crochet, I did 8, and it was impossible to close the circle, so I thought that most probably I should chain 2 instead of 4, simply because the double crochets will be much less. I'm not sure if I'm correct. Another thing, I find it easier to close a circle made of a slip knot, instead of a magic ring. In my first message, I made a mistake. I should have mentioned "magic ring" and not slip knot. The difficulty I mostly face is closing the circle of a magic ring, so I will follow your example of making a slip knot and chaining. 😊
Hello!🙂 I'm glad to hear that you love the granny squares and are planning to make a bag out of them. As for your question regarding the amount of yarn required, it really depends on the size of the granny squares you are planning to make, the yarn weight, and the hook size you are using. To determine the amount of yarn you will need, you can first choose the yarn and hook size you would like to use, and then create a small sample square to measure the amount of yarn needed to complete one square. From there, you can calculate the total amount of yarn needed based on the number of squares you plan to make for your bag. As a general rule of thumb, for a small granny square measuring around 4 inches (10 cm) and using a worsted weight yarn, you will need approximately 15-20 grams of yarn. However, this amount may vary depending on the factors mentioned earlier. I hope this information is helpful, and happy crocheting! 🌺❤
Grazie mille! È bellissimo sentire il tuo apprezzamento. Se hai bisogno di ulteriori informazioni o assistenza, non esitare a chiedere. Continua con il tuo progetto e buona fortuna! ❤️😊🧶
Yes, you can substitute double crochet for puff stitches, but it will change the look and texture of your project. Puff stitches create a more textured, raised effect, while double crochet will be smoother and more streamlined. Happy crocheting! ❤️😊✨
You're very welcome!🥰 I'm so glad to hear that you've already completed one. That's wonderful progress! Keep up the fantastic work, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out anytime. Happy crafting! ❤️🧶😊
Thank you very much.🥰 To make the circle and square larger, I recommend using a larger hook size and some thicker yarn. Best of luck with your project🌺
@@AdoreCreaCrochet thank you for the reply, What I meant was can I add more circles to the pattern than indicated in your tutuorial? Can I add a 5th or 6th rounds of circles to the pattern?
thank you very much Im glad to hear you liked the tutorial. 🥰 It seems like you might have made an error while making the square. I recommend that you go back and watch the video again one more time to see where you might have made a mistake. Best of luck with your project🙂
Yes, absolutely! Both techniques serve the same purpose of creating a tight, adjustable center for your work. Using a magic ring can offer some advantages, such as being able to pull the center closed more tightly than with a chain circle. Best of luck with your project😊
Thank you so much for subscribing! 😊 I’m thrilled you enjoyed the tutorial! Yes, I do have a video on how to join them together-you can find it on my channel: ua-cam.com/video/GwezXQDJtc4/v-deo.htmlsi=iid-Tpka8rX5mNcZ Happy crocheting! ❤🧶
Great question! For a Sunburst Granny Square in DK weight yarn with 4 different colors, you'll typically use around 10-12 grams of yarn per square, depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Here’s a rough breakdown: Main center color: 2-3 grams First round (outside the center): 2-3 grams Second round: 2-3 grams Third round: 2-3 grams So for each square, you're looking at roughly 10-12 grams in total, with the exact amount varying slightly depending on your tension and the specific yarn you're using. Happy crocheting! 😊
Of course! You can absolutely use granny squares to make bags similar to the sunflower tote bag. Granny squares are versatile and can be customized in countless ways, so you'll have lots of creative freedom. If you need any tips or a pattern to follow, feel free to ask. Happy crafting! 🌸🧶
Hello😊 I'm using some DK weight merino wool yarn. It is delicious, soft and elastic and therefore easy to work with for beginners. Cotton yarn can be difficult to work with for beginners because it doesn't give. And the thinner it is, the harder it is to see the stitches clearly. I would therefore recommend beginners to work with thicker yarn with a little bit of elasticity. Best of luck with your project🌺
Keeping the edges straight in a granny square can be tricky! Make sure to count your stitches and keep an even tension. Blocking your square after finishing can also help straighten the edges. Practice makes perfect, so keep at it! Happy crocheting! 😊
You can use this with other granny square designs as long as they have 4 rounds in the same type of yarn. There may well be a slight difference due to different stitch types. But here it is important to subsequently block the squares so that they achieve exactly the same size. Good luck with your project😊
If you're consistently ending up with an odd number of stitches when working on the square part of your crochet project, it might be because of an error in the pattern or in your stitch count. Here's how you can troubleshoot and fix it: Count your stitches: Double-check your stitch count at the end of each round to ensure you have the correct number of stitches. Counting your stitches can help you identify where you might be adding or skipping stitches. Check the pattern: Review the pattern instructions carefully to make sure you're following each step correctly. Look for any specific instructions regarding stitch counts at the end of each round. Make adjustments: If you're consistently ending up with an odd number of stitches, you may need to adjust your stitch count to ensure it's even. You can do this by adding or skipping stitches as needed to make the count even. Use stitch markers: Placing stitch markers at the beginning and end of each round can help you keep track of your stitch count and identify any mistakes more easily. Practice: Sometimes, getting the hang of a new pattern or stitch technique takes practice. Keep practicing, and don't be discouraged if it takes a few tries to get it right. By carefully counting your stitches, double-checking the pattern, and making any necessary adjustments, you should be able to fix the issue and create even squares for your project. If you're still having trouble, don't hesitate to ask for help or clarification. Happy crocheting! 🧶😊
Absolutely, it happens to the best of us! Sometimes projects just don’t turn out how we envisioned, and that’s totally okay. Frogging can be frustrating, but it’s also a chance to start fresh with new ideas! Just remember, every piece is a learning experience. Keep going; you’ll find something that satisfies you! 🐸❤️
I tried to do this it turned out fine but not as square as this one. What should i do to make them more square shape even though i followed the exact pattern ... 😢
It can be frustrating when your squares don't turn out as square as you'd like, even when following the pattern closely. Here are a few tips to help you achieve a more square shape: Check your tension: Inconsistent tension can cause your squares to distort. Make sure you're maintaining the same tension throughout your work. If you notice your tension changing, try to adjust accordingly as you crochet. Count your stitches: Double-check that you're crocheting the correct number of stitches in each round. Missing or adding stitches can throw off the square shape. Counting your stitches regularly can help catch any mistakes early on. Pay attention to corners: Ensure that you're crocheting the corners properly. Corners are crucial for maintaining the square shape. Be consistent in how you work the corners in each round. Block your squares: Blocking can help even out your stitches and encourage your squares to hold their shape. Wet blocking or steam blocking are common methods for shaping crochet projects. You can pin your squares into shape and let them dry to achieve a more uniform appearance. Experiment with hook size: Sometimes, using a larger or smaller hook size can affect the shape of your squares. If your squares are too tight or too loose, try adjusting your hook size to see if it makes a difference. Don't get discouraged if they're not perfect right away. With time and practice, you'll improve your skills and create more uniform squares. Keep practicing, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance or have any questions along the way!
For a cardigan or sweater, you'll typically want a yarn that's soft, durable, and easy to work with. Look for yarns labeled as "worsted weight" or "medium weight" as these are often recommended for garments like cardigans and sweaters. Acrylic yarn is a good choice for beginners because it's affordable, widely available, and easy to care for. It's also quite soft and comes in a wide range of colors, allowing you to find the perfect shade for your project. If you're looking for something natural, wool yarn is another excellent option. It's warm, durable, and has great stitch definition. However, keep in mind that some people find wool to be itchy, so you might want to opt for a wool blend or a softer variety of wool if you're sensitive to itchiness. Happy crocheting! 😊❤

Thanks for the amazing tutorial. Can I stitch this square together with your daisy granny square?

Thank you so much😊❤
Thank you so much for another amazing tutorial 🩷 I want to make a solid border around this square, how do I do that?
Hi there! Beautiful work. Can i ask the measurements for this granny square? I am ideally looking to make mine 5 inches. ❤

U r just amazing..
Thank you very much 😍🌸❤️
This tutorial is amazing! How many squares do you think would be needed for a cardigan? 😊
😊🧶
Muchas gracias ! Muy bien explicado 😊
De nada. Me alegra que te haya gustado mi tutorial. buena suerte con tu proyecto😊❤
@@AdoreCreaCrochet Thank you so much for the reply. I am going to try it!
This tutorial is great. But how do I do one more row of the square? Does the average double crochet square pattern work here? I have 5 yarn colours.
Best!!!!💗💗
Thank You❤😊🤗
joli modèle ,bien expliqué un petit pouce mérité!
Thank you so much for your kind words 🥰 Enjoy your project ❤️🤗
Here are a few tips that might help:
Adjust the Loop Size: When you create the magic loop, make sure to leave a longer tail than you think you'll need.
Hii can i please know how many grams of yarn do i need to make these? Also it looks amazing i love it will absolutely make a bag out of it
Hello!🙂 I'm glad to hear that you love the granny squares and are planning to make a bag out of them.
Bellissima ❤️
Grazie mille! È bellissimo sentire il tuo apprezzamento. Se hai bisogno di ulteriori informazioni o assistenza, non esitare a chiedere. Continua con il tuo progetto e buona fortuna! ❤️😊🧶
Can you substitute double CHROCHET instead of puff stitches ❤😊
Thank you
Yes, you can substitute double crochet for puff stitches, but it will change the look and texture of your project. Puff stitches create a more textured, raised effect, while double crochet will be smoother and more streamlined. Happy crocheting! ❤️😊✨
I made one,thank you❤❤❤😊😊😊

Sorry, just confused. What did u do with the loop at the end of the first round?
It just disappeared the next shot at 3:47
Same here
Great tutuorial. How do you make the circle larger and how can you make the square larger?
Thank you very much.🥰 To make the circle and square larger, I recommend using a larger hook size and some thicker yarn. Best of luck with your project🌺
@@AdoreCreaCrochet thank you for the reply, What I meant was can I add more circles to the pattern than indicated in your tutuorial? Can I add a 5th or 6th rounds of circles to the pattern?
I really like this tutorial but at the end when I do the 3rd corner I have 5 spaces to double crochet from any tips for this?
thank you very much Im glad to hear you liked the tutorial. 🥰 It seems like you might have made an error while making the square. I recommend that you go back and watch the video again one more time to see where you might have made a mistake.
Best of luck with your project🙂
Can I substitute the 4 Chain Circle for a magic ring? Would it work the same?
Yes, absolutely! Both techniques serve the same purpose of creating a tight, adjustable center for your work.
Using a magic ring can offer some advantages, such as being able to pull the center closed more tightly than with a chain circle.
Best of luck with your project😊

Anyone knows which type of yarn is this? It looks super smooth to crochet
This is Drops Merino Extra Fine, DK merino wool . It is very smooth and soft😊❤
How much yarn in total do you end up using in each square ?
Great question! For a Sunburst Granny Square in DK weight yarn with 4 different colors, you'll typically use around 10-12 grams of yarn per square, depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Here’s a rough breakdown:
Main center color: 2-3 grams
First round (outside the center): 2-3 grams
Second round: 2-3 grams
Third round: 2-3 grams
So for each square, you're looking at roughly 10-12 grams in total, with the exact amount varying slightly depending on your tension and the specific yarn you're using. Happy crocheting! 😊
Ca u use these granny squares to make bags like ur sunflower tote bag
Of course! You can absolutely use granny squares to make bags similar to the sunflower tote bag. Granny squares are versatile and can be customized in countless ways, so you'll have lots of creative freedom. If you need any tips or a pattern to follow, feel free to ask. Happy crafting! 🌸🧶
Thank you❤❤❤
You are very welcome😊❤🌺
I have the problem of choosing the right thread. I chose cotton thread but it seems thin
Is the thread you work in thin or thick?
Hello😊 I'm using some DK weight merino wool yarn. It is delicious, soft and elastic and therefore easy to work with for beginners. Cotton yarn can be difficult to work with for beginners because it doesn't give. And the thinner it is, the harder it is to see the stitches clearly. I would therefore recommend beginners to work with thicker yarn with a little bit of elasticity.
Best of luck with your project🌺
Brava👏😄
Grazie mille❤❤❤
I loved the flower granny square. Can you please give me the color names ?
Regards Dee Hale@@AdoreCreaCrochet
I am a beginner, what is the yarn size u used for this? How many ply?
It's wonderful to hear that you're diving into the world of crochet as a beginner! I used 8 ply / DK / worsted . Happy crocheting😊
How do you get your edges straight? Mine always curves.
Keeping the edges straight in a granny square can be tricky! Make sure to count your stitches and keep an even tension. Blocking your square after finishing can also help straighten the edges. Practice makes perfect, so keep at it! Happy crocheting! 😊
Does anyone know if I can use this pattern with any other type of granny squares?
You can use this with other granny square designs as long as they have 4 rounds in the same type of yarn. There may well be a slight difference due to different stitch types. But here it is important to subsequently block the squares so that they achieve exactly the same size. Good luck with your project😊
Okay thank you so much I love how you explain how to do this I can’t wait to make my project
I always end up with an odd number when I get to the square part and then it’s uneven. How do I fix that??
If you're consistently ending up with an odd number of stitches when working on the square part of your crochet project, it might be because of an error in the pattern or in your stitch count. Here's how you can troubleshoot and fix it:
Count your stitches: Double-check your stitch count at the end of each round to ensure you have the correct number of stitches.
@@AdoreCreaCrochet - Thank YOU sooooo soooo much!! Much appreciation!
Anyone else frog their projects cause nothing satisfys you?
Absolutely, it happens to the best of us! Sometimes projects just don’t turn out how we envisioned, and that’s totally okay. Frogging can be frustrating, but it’s also a chance to start fresh with new ideas! Just remember, every piece is a learning experience. Keep going; you’ll find something that satisfies you! 🐸❤️
I tried to do this it turned out fine but not as square as this one. What should i do to make them more square shape even though i followed the exact pattern ... 😢
It can be frustrating when your squares don't turn out as square as you'd like, even when following the pattern closely. Here are a few tips to help you achieve a more square shape:
Check your tension: Inconsistent tension can cause your squares to distort.

I used Drops Merino Extra Fine. DK Light worsted weight yarn
Can anyone please help me out with which kind of yarn i need to buy for a cardigan/sweater im an absolute beginner
