      Is it good for mountaineering? You said you climbed Mont Blanc with it. Could you put ice axes pair into that? It has only one loop I guess. And also the poles can be attache additionally?

    That sit pad is a brilliant feature! You can tell that this pack has been thought out and designed by people who will be using it in the field! Wish this video had come out a month ago before I bought my new 40ltr pack! 🤦🏻‍♂️

    I've got the GG Mariposa and its absolutely superb. So light, so balanced and so comfortable. I prefer the slightly bigger volume of the Mariposa purely because I don't need to pack my gear down as much.

    Been using the Mariposa 60 for years but need a smaller pack as won't be needing to carry lots of food on my next adventure the SWCP so going to downsize to this pack and this video only confirmed my decision thanks man👍🍺

    Hi David. Nice video..... Yes, you are right, it is a very good backpack. I also have a similar one, I used it for a long time, until a year ago when I changed it to Zpacks Nero, much lighter in weight and, in addition, waterproof.

    I've had this on the go for a couple of years. I agree with all your positive points--but not about the water resistance. In my experience, this pack has no water resistance at all. It soaks through pretty immediately. It's not been a problem, because I use a packliner and don't put anything vulnerable to rain in the zipped pocket. The packliner is yellow and can be seen through the pack when it's wet, as the thin material goes semi transparent.
    My favourite thing about the pack is becoming a bit unsightly--namely the mesh pocket. The mesh pock is gloriously capacious, so I put all my tarp and bivvi kit in there, including groundsheet, cord and stake bag. And still I can stuff extra things in. But because I do a lot of bushwhacking, it keeps getting holed. A few mending patches looked cool, but the number I have now makes the pack look a bit scruffy.

    Very nice enthusiastic review. I couldn't agree more. What you didn't mention but is very important where I hike in california. This pack easily fits a large bear can as well. I go out with a full kit and the bear can in the trash compactor bag in the pack and have not even come close to filling the bag. One of my favorite parts is the long pocket - I stayed with GG because my Mariposa had it - thats where I keep my days food so I don't have to access the bear canister. Perfectly perfect in every way. Cheers - new subscriber

    Im glad the bag is working well for you. Hiked long trails with it and feel a little let down myself. Did you Notice it pulling you backwards at all? Also, threads arouns both sides of the hipbelt had started coming undone 200km in. Its cheap and light so i guess i got what i payed for. Works well for small hikes but wouldnt give it a my recommendation. The robic material is also not very abrasion resistant

    Great review and great to see how your channel is coming on. What is "froo hiking"? I don't know if that's the term but you have said it a few times and I'm not sure what you mean. 🤔

    Great review as always. Love your content.
    I noticed on the big side pocket there are some holes appearing, was this caused by tent poles or by putting it on the ground or ??? Seems like for 12 months I would hope it didn't start deteriorating at £200.
    Also, what DSLR clip are you using on your strap?

    • @DavidPMcEntee
      @DavidPMcEntee  2 роки тому +1

      I noticed that while editing too! I think they’re from tent pegs!🤯 Very annoying! Very silly for me to store them there though! Maybe I’ll do a repair video in the future!! The clip is linked in the videos description , it comes in black and white and is absolutely awesome!!

    Not sure how you can fit all your gear for the multi day hikes in a 42ltr sack when you include all your camera gear 🤣🤣. With summer gear I can get away with a 48ltr until I put my camera stuff in. Great review though cheers for sharing

    Thanks for your 1 year review. I was wandering what size you purchased. And will the hipbelt cinch down enough if you loose weight on trail? I would be a size medium with a 31" waist.

    • @DavidPMcEntee
      @DavidPMcEntee  2 роки тому

      For sure! It’s a solid belt, ready for all sizes! Lots of room to cinch

    I have the g4 20. Its just great and there's a reason for the many 5 star reviews. I had another ultralight backpack with a very minimal hip belt. It was exceedingly uncomfortable. For most women our carrying mode is diametrically opposite from men. The comfort level by comparison is 100% better with the g4 20. I made the switch after half of the pct. Many men appreciate a hipbelt as well even ultralight. Also as I would with any backpack, I have a pack liner... nylofume bag. Works great to keep things waterproofed. ... The only damage I have is a rip in the outer mesh pocket bc it was attacked by a dog getting to food, thus a smokey the bear patch otherwise it's been on the pct and all over europe functioning also as luggage. I have all of my gear with me. Two years strong!

    I’ve always seemed stayed away from frameless packs. Does the pack transfer weight to your hips effectively? 👍

    • @DavidPMcEntee
      @DavidPMcEntee  2 роки тому

      It does!! 🥳 It’s really comfortable and is extremely easy to wear, they sell all different sizes too which is awesome because you can buy the exact pack for your frame!

    The world and his wife know that inexperienced backpackers carry their wallets and other valuables in the top pocket. A knife blade and a quick slash is all it takes be you on a train, walking down a busy street or snoozing away in your tent. Better to carry important things in the waistband pocket where you have a chance of seeing them whilst wearing the pack. Best of all in a completely separate belt or whatever that will still be discretely tucked away on your person even when you've put the bag down for a rest or at night.
