I nominate Erwan Heussaff for President of the Republic of the Philippines! Kidding aside, wow! Im just amazed how qualified this coverage is! I mean aside from the visual coverage what really enticed me to watch the whole 1 hour video is the quality of the content which covers a lot of highly valuable and important narratives which I’ve never seen or heard from professional local network correspondents. I mean how in the world those local multi million network companies never came up with this type of coverage?! Anyways, kudos and very well done Erwan and to the whole team of FEATR. Honestly you guys really deserve an award for this.. By the way Im a chef/OFW who’s been living almost my whole life here in kingdom of Saudi Arabia, been looking for a sign to come back to our beloved country but what holds me back every time is the thought of poverty, dirty politics, high crime rate, and how opportunity-saturated our nation is. But seeing these such refreshing content uplifts my will to gamble and come back for good and leave my so-called ‘beyond the walls of a comfortable existence’ here… Thank you!
I'm really rooting for the island to not be the next Bali or Boracay. No massive resorts or chain restaurants. Keep it local and authentic. More power to those people who are advocating for sustainability and helping the locals keep their way of life but at the same time help them survive financially.
Its already to late. The recent development of the island leads to a downfall faster than Bali. Countless foreigners working illegally with no work or business permits. Land is sold without titles. Tax fraud and big resorts already bought up half the island. What you see on the island now is probably the first 5 percent of what you will see in the future. The surf spots are already overcrowded. I predict an island closure in the next 5 years. I hope my predictions arent correct but it all points to it.
Watch the entire video and slow cap for featr and erwan.its narrating stories like this that opens a place not just for tourism but knowing the aspects of that certain place especially its people and how they and the place is thriving.its also that Bayanihan to make the island sustainable on its own and creating jobs for its locals.and the most important thing is voicing out how to conserve and protect the island.cant wait for another island/place feature ❤
Hopefully this Island doesn't get ruined by international tourism.. Pricing out the locals like what happened in Hawaii. Nobody originally from parts of Hawaii can even afford to live there.
Another excellent video, the usual Erwan’s trademark of showcasing island paradise food and other gastronomic adventure whether coming from classy top notch presentation rather showing the locals diversity. From classy to simple eatery that makes this video balance in their presentation, everyone has an audience. Thank you Erwan and your team too ❤❤❤
Siargao is really beautiful and I have visited it last year. And I definitely agree to the sentiment in regards to mass tourism or mass migration to the island in general. It reminds me somewhat of Cebu, where I grew up during my earliest years. One of my core memories while living there was sitting behind my dad or uncle's motorcycle and enjoying the scenery as we passed by numerous palm trees and farm lands. My family eventually moved to Poland when I was 8, where my father is from. Fast forward to 15 years later, during my visit last year, what used to be long stretches of palm trees were now rows of houses that you couldn't even see the sea anymore. When I asked my relatives on how it came to be, they said that people from different areas of the country just settled there. The shore near our house also became very dirty and filled with trash that my grandfather and uncles, who were fishermen, said that they hadn't fished there in years. There was also this area I used to frequently pass by, where it was just endless farmlands that you could see mountains in the distance, but now it was just an ugly concrete factory with large fences and barbed wires. While driving around the entirety of Cebu island, I also noticed how much entire mountains were being excavated, especially around Naga and the central parts of the island. So many private neighbourhoods and unregulated zoning. Then there's the hundreds of poor children in the streets, most likely due to their families being displaced from their homes. When I finally go back to the Philippines next year, I will definitely be back in Siargao and explore other islands, but I probably won't go back to Cebu ever, since I get too sad looking at what my home has become.
Just came back from Siargao and for my whole stay, ive always thought of how the food logistics worked there. Luckily, I stumbled on this video. Really appreciate this level of culture journalism and am hoping to see more!
Well-presented. Great conversations. Like how you featured the guests as Siargaonons no matter their background. Also the color grading just pops life and fun but also a calm, as Siargao is and may it always be. :)
I’m a regular visitor of Siargao since 2009. Halos 3-5x a year ako in the island because of my work, and I’ve witnessed the transformation of Siargao during that 15 year period.
FEATR CHEF ERWAN WHAT A BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING CONTENT COVERAGE OF SIARGAO PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 SALAMAT MUCH FOR LETTING AND SHARING THE WORLD ABOUT PHILIPPINES 🌎 WE SALUTE YOU 🫡 😊
So informative, so thoughtful, great way to showcase the Philippines and Siagao in particular. Thanks Erwan. You're doing a fantastic job. Cheers from Aus!
Bitaw Im from the mainland of Surigao in Bacuag it’s far 1hour almost in Surigao City, pero ang Siargao jud kay nice sab the 9 bayan’s o Town. I want to explore more pohon next bakasyon.
Thank you for another informative video every time you feature a place here in the country, parang mas madami pa ko natututunan sa mga videos nyo kesa sa history subject ko way back 😂✌️ I wanna go to Siargao and taste all the food that you’ve shown..😋😋😋
I was in siargao few weeks ago stayed for 7 days meet lots of new friends whom I stayed at in the hostel they also are a solo traveler like me from around the world.Compared to other island it's really amazing specially in the night you can see all the stars which for along time leaving in Europe never have I saw these babalik ako and maybe find my place in these beautiful island🙂
Erwan! I met you for the very first time when you filmed this in Siargao around end of August (if I'm not wrong). Thank you for being kind and approachable when my friend and I asked for a quick pic. Was really happy because I went to Siargao for my birthday ☺️ Thank you so much for this vlog as well for highlighting so much of Siargao's best food. This was a really insightful watch!
Thank you for this amazing video! I'm a big fan of this channel, and I've learned so much from watching your content. I really appreciate you featuring Siargao-it made me love and appreciate my home island even more. Growing up there, we always thought those tiny cucumbers were poisonous and not edible haha!
Visited siargao May of last year….We visited trogons perch in northern siargao…that part is so serene and quiet but no cell signal at all…my fear is in case of emergency how to call for help….
I may agree that the magic is still there until it becomes commercialized. I've seen it in Boracay. I used to go to Aklan when I was younger where my parents are from and I made sure I went to the island by myself. I stayed in a rented nipa hut. Siargao needs to learn from this. And please don't just think about people's livelihood. What about the natural habitat and landscape of the island?
It's scary that Siargao is slowly overran by tourists and it would be commercially develop like Boracay with lots of big hotels. Siargao would lose it charm and magic. I hope long time residents will stop these kind of developments. Siargao is beautiful by itself. It's paradise!!
@@Plant_Tracedbut is that the right thing though? The commenter simply said a real thing that could actually harm the community and culture of the island. Boracay for example was an absolute mess, overrun with tourists that traffic was as bad as Manila. Ofc recently Boracay has been developed to better the traffic and sewage system, but that was so recent and it took so long for it to happen. I’m glad that fellow Filipinos want to make intelligent choices for the development of tourism instead just capitalizing on the tourists. They’re building farming industries where they’re self sufficient instead of relying on tourists, and I comment the Suragaonons and other Filipinos for that.
If you like the ocean or surfing, you will have fun. But if you visit just to see the place, i dont think i will go back there again. The food in their high end restaurants are expensive that only the foreigners and few touristsw can afford it. Most of. The tourist has to go to the local cafeteria for cheaper option, even local restaurant has a lot of foreigners too.
I have never been to Siargao. hopefully, when I do have that chance it'll still be a beautiful place to go to (people, landscape, food) and not as commercialized as Boracay. as early as now, I hope protocols are placed to preserve the area
HAPAG RESTAURANT the best food u need to try the pinakbet and bulalo amazing I was there2 weeks ago !. BIG BELLY the burger meat doo succulent then PIZZA AND PASTA KERMIT IS THE BEST with it . That’s for me

The island's pretty much being slowly gentrified. Tons of foreigners, upper middle class to rich are moving in to romanticize living "away from the urban chaos", but not much of help towards local and communal development.
Maganda sana ang Pilipinas, mga isla natin world class, kaso ang gobyerno kurap pa din ... kahit anong govt sa mundo meron kurapsyon , pero yung sa Pinas kakaibang level , d naawa sa mga naghihirap . All they do si Political bickering . Sana yung passion nila at energy ilagay sa improvement , Tourism , education , infrastructure, and Agriculture .

The only thing that prevents it from becoming such is natural disaster - typhoons!
That's what I'm thinking..
Yes, as Italian ads says piano piano it's means hinay hinay lang, severe development the area, tantamount to environtment/nature damage, 101% sure...
Its already to late. The recent development of the island leads to a downfall faster than Bali. Countless foreigners working illegally with no work or business permits. Land is sold without titles. Tax fraud and big resorts already bought up half the island.

Mr. Carlito Nogalo has to be recognized as the first Filipino professional surfer who competed worldwide. Proud Pinoy.

Not scary when your LGUs are wise enough.

Yes, no to mass tourism especially to Siargao, otherwise, it will become the next Boracay. Go for sustainable tourism.
