tbf, fortnite's microtransactions are fair and mostly cosmetic (from what i hear)
@@alveolate even if it's only cosmetic, the model isn't as harmless as it seems. Te be short, Epic Games use the same principle in marketing as the limit time offer: if there is a skin you like available in the shop, it incite players to buy it or it may be a long time before it is available again. Well it's more complex than that and a french youtuber made a video about how fortnite made it (even if there is some luck etc, it is an interesting critic, the name of the video is "Comment Fortnite a conquis ses joueurs" from Game Spectrum).
I personnaly think the problem of this model is that easly manipulative player can easily spend some money, even if they didn't really wanted to buy it.

@@desmondlizewski9329 the joke os that usually the main character will lose their mom or dad but as he spoke he realized he actually doesn't care for her that much and their relationship isn't that meaningful. In the book it's so much more hilarious. He flips him the bird and tells him to go ahead and do it.
his aunt is a stand in for Aunt May and Wade Watts - double (alliteration) is like Peter Parker. everything is a reference.
@@eingoluq not really. That's actually a very big stretch, especially when they have nothing in common. Wades Aunt is a horrible person to him and to think it is specifically meant to alliterate to an aunt for some reason is kind of unreasonable. If it were a grandma you'd just find some other reason character to explain that, but it isn't a reference nor needs an explanation other than he doesn't really care that much about her
Jesus, she's not an exact representation of her. In the story, Wade explains how he was named in similar fashion to comics book heroes like Bruce Banner and Peter Parker. I think it even made it into the films as the explanation. Wade is also more like Peter Parker than Bruce Banner and like Peter he lives with his Aunt, is poor and is very nerdy/geeky. It's very obvious and NOT a stretch at all. All they did was make his aunt and uncle be of a different personality to Peter's. His parents are also dead, so very Peter Parker like. So your statement they have nothing in common is erroneous indeed. I'm sure if we research the author's inspiration for the character Peter Parker would be high on the list.
edit: This is the quote from the film: ” My name is Wade Watts. My Dad picked that name because it sounded like a superhero’s alter ego…like Peter Parker or Bruce Banner”

@@davesdinnerz9243 I disagree. I like the book and I have not read a book with a similar plot. If you don't appreciate the references or understand them then I get how you wouldn't like the book. For me and many others, according to reviews, the book was good and unpredictable and I was drawn into the book from the beginning. It's not the best book ever written but I disagree with your statement that it was not a good book. The movie did a poor adaptation and if they had just copied the book it could've been a great movie. *spoilers. I would've really liked to have seen wade infiltrate IOI headquarters. There was definitely parts that I think could've been written better. There was also some dialogue that sounded a bit off but I still think it was a good book. With a few more edits it would've been perfect.

So I'm guessing you're either very old or very young. You're in the minority then because most people play video games and have seen old movies and TV shows. I love video games and grew up playing the very games referenced. So of course I would enjoy the book. If the book had been based on something you liked then maybe you wouldn't have your current opinion. The people who liked the book felt that feeling of nostalgia bc they have played the games mentioned in the book or watched the movies/TV shows. So how an you expect to like something if you don't even like what it's based on?

I'm pretty sure Fortnite devs have a sense of humor, they had a mode where capturing command posts was done by dancing... Dancing, to win an fps game... It has lots of light hearted, non-serious mood about almost everything in the game. I'm sure a lot of the leads are into comedy, and picked HISHE for this reason (could you imagine if EA sponsored this, they would be made fun of almost the entire clip). As long as HISHE keeps making great humor, then I'm fine with game sponsors, as long as its not affecting the actual content, this one seemed merely a tag on at the end since it had something to do with "gaming", and that was about it in relationship to the video (EA would require a complete change so it wasn't insulting).
Maybe that's the joke
