    I personally find it hillarious that people instead of complaining about the true issues this serie has /I was dissappointed that they ignored even most of the few things we know about Tutankhamuns life, didnt really try to make it historically more accurate and missed the opportunity to depict the transition from Amarna period etc./, they decided to complain about the one of very few things this miniseries did quite well, and thats the casting. The racially diverse cast was a move in the right direction and according to archaeological and historical sources is much more accurate than many people here would have guessed. Its truly stupid how some people complain about black actors playing Egyptians when we know that Nubians and Sub-Saharan Africans made quite significant part of Egyptian population especially in Upper Egypt and certainly were commonly present on Egyptian court, as it is stupid to accuse this miniserie with racially diverse cast from whitewashing, just because the actor of color playing the title character isnt dark enough to them. Both of these groups of people showcass only their own close mindedness, racism and lack of education.

    really people? this is a drama series not a documentary. This purely for entertainment not to a test on how hollywood can be historically accurate. We all know how it goes, is this really a surprise? If you want an accurate depiction, tune in to the history channel.

    • @Drutzie
      @Drutzie 9 років тому

      babygunz0604 - Are you suggesting a movie could be made about George Washington, the first president of the US and a black actor could play the part? Or what about Julius Caeser, could he be played by a black man, or how about a Vietnamese? Be for real!

    • @babygunz0604
      @babygunz0604 9 років тому

      I'm not suggesting anything racial! I'm saying this show is for entertainment not a documentary and that's that. Could we make movies about those you have mentioned with black actors playing the part? Why not! It's already been done. David Oyelowo who played Henry VI. Peter Mensah played a historically white character, Oenomaus of Greece. There's many more. Race bending is prevalent in Hollywood.

    • @Drutzie
      @Drutzie 9 років тому

      babygunz0604 Rarely are actors cast that aren't the race of the character being depicted. Anyone who denies media influences society or is designed to influence public opinion is naive. The world thinks Jesus was a white man because he is depicted that way in media. You sound young. I hope the world moves in the direction of your thinking. Unfortunately too many aren't there yet. Too many lies about history have been told to promote racism and white supremacy in this country, this series is one of them.

    Some of you may have knowledge of this series as not being historically correct, or correct in its choice of actors as far as race, etc. One goal about most television shows is to be entertaining. Not only to be entertaining, but to try and achieve the most success possible. Sometimes, things may or may not get lost in the middle of all that. Who knows how many people tried out for this series that were actually good actors. The point is that it's ultimately for entertainment, and the goal is to get as many people as possible to watch it and like it.

    He's beautiful, but I think the real King Tut was an African with a more dark skin (look his statues, he had a pretty face too). Closely related to Sudanese and Nubian people, and other east Africans, or he was mixed race (African/west Asian). The ancient Egyptians were really beautiful people. He wasn't a white European, that's really impossible. And Arabian people are not from Egypt(Arabs are caucasians), Native Egyptians were African people, sometimes mixed with west Asian civilizations like the hittites.

    • @emmadunn7857
      @emmadunn7857 7 років тому +2

      Unfortunately the show and actors portray are very inaccurate representation on Tut's life. There is scientific evidence that he had debilitating disabilities that made even the simple task of walking difficult. He had a club foot which is backed up by the 100+ walking sticks from in his tomb, many of them used. There is evidence to suggest hormonal conditions and potentionally had the practice of head binding. Using modern technology, scientists and archaeologists have managed to recreate a digital 3d reconstruction of his face and body. He was not a handsome king. His statues are misleading to hide his physical disabilities most like as the result of his father and mother were also brother and sister. I live in Perth Australia and we were very lucky to have a portable museum brought to our convention centre all about King Tut and his tomb. They reconstructed his tomb and had copies of everything found in his tomb. I have had a fascination with Ancient Egypt since I was little and absolutely love learning what i can and studying the different kings and dynastys. I love it. Its such a rich culture and so different from life today. Even though this show is greatly inaccurate. I still enjoyed it.

      NIkki Estreba And how do you know what he was like as a pharaoh? He was nine when he came to the throne and ruled for ten years. The first few of those years he would have had a merely ceremonial role anyhow; after that he began to make changes to the place much to the annoyance of Ay, he was involved in diplomacy, did and could ride a chariot; the ones in the tomb were used; did go into battle, did secure the borders, did send his general into battle with success; did make reforms; did have to fight against plotters, and he was starting to show his own mind. Other than these things, we know little about him or his reign. We know nothing about his personal life or his charactor, save he married his half sister, sadly fathered two daughters who died at birth or soon after and were carefully mummified and placed in his tomb; we know something from the period because of the Armana Letters and we know that he died, most likely from sepsis caused after a massive trauma to his knee, and gangarine after infection set all around his body. We know he had a club foot, used walking sticks, was good with a bow and that is all. We know nothing else. The drama had to invent the majority of his life. Almost everything in the drama was to fill in the gaps and then it was given the Tudors treatment, so you can get nothing from the Channel 5 Spike Drama to say anything about the real Tutankhamun. If you have other information a number of scholars I am sure would be pleased for you to enlighten us and then perhaps you, the expert could write the definative biography about him.

      +IMA Bull Avan Jogia is biracial he's half Asianand half white not saying that makes it any better considering Egyptian people really a mix between black and Arabic people...
      Also the reason why people are so facinated by Tut in particular is because his tomb was so in tact when they found it. Most of the tombs in Egypt were basically destroyed by tomb raiders who damn near stole everything but Tut's tomb had seemingly everything he was buried with. People were able to learn so much about him, his life and Egyptian culture because of his tomb and also the fact that he became king when he was really young so a lot of people find that interesting as well.

    How Tutankhamon looks like in this show isn't accurate. Tutankhamon was most likely bald because it was common at that time to shave their head. So either he was bald or very short haired. According to some archaeologists Tut had a club foot, feminine hips, bucked teeth and a more feminine youthful face.

      And according to more recent studies, he was nowhere near as ill and mishapen as often repeated. Honestly, I think there's a lot of sensationalism going on. He may not have looked like Avan Jogia (not many do) but he probably was not as unfortunate looking as those bad CG renders of his face would have you believe.

    And another great miniseries gets politicized. "Why is this one white?" "Why is that one black?" Considering the peoples of that time living in close proximity by today's standards, such as Nubians, Egyptians, Hittites, Babylonians, Hebrews, etc., and the known practice of marriages for alliance by the ruling class, as well as probable marriages by everyday folk of different cultures, it is safe to assume there would be quite a diverse population throughout the various regions. Then if you REALLY want to shake things up, add in the ancient astronaut theory! :) Lighten up folks, it's a TV show; one that I personally enjoyed.

      He had lots of canes... because he was a king. They were a symbol of his authority. The club foot thing has been refuted recently. Wide hips? Maybe.

      @@hodarinundu I believe researchers said his 130 walking sticks were used extensively in his life. He also may have had Kohler's disease leading to a deformed foot. Even if they had a healthy, handsome actor (Avan), it would've been a nice touch to have him holding canes/walking sticks as a tribute to history.

      @ReturnoftheBrotha Doctors actually created a reconstruction of how Tutankamun might have looked based on examination of his mummy. The reconstruction image shows that his skin color would have matched that of Avan Jogia's, it might have been slightly lighter.

    the actor is stunning...but the film is not convincing...Tut was shown limping as a little boy and when he grew up, he was not limping any more...a royal prince would have had a curl of long hair, on one side of his head and not long hair..when he became king, his name changed into Nebkheperura and nobody called him Tut...and so on and so forth

    • @hodarinundu
      @hodarinundu Місяць тому

      To be fair nobody calls him "Tut" in the series. Also, he does mention the name Nebkheperura when he addresses his people.
      I remember he does limp only slightly as an adult- tho I might be wrong.
      You don´t hire Avan Jogia for a show just for him to be shaved :B
