Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 чер 2022
- I had a chat with my viewer Leo on how it's like living in Singapore. We had our meal at Crafted by Peter Zwiener, located at Esplanade. Leo is half Japanese, half Mexican interning in Singapore for 6 months. I thought his background was quite interesting and decided to ask his take on Singapore.

GREAT CONTENT
Thank you so much for having me!! また会いましょう!
I am impressed with your adventurous spirit. You seem like a super nice well rounded guy. I wish you best in all your future travels.
It sounds like you are crushing your internship over there. 🇯🇵 🇲🇽 🇦🇺
Ghib you did this video well. You were very natural and asked interesting intelligent questions. You are a natural interviewer. Well done.
Thanks!!
always enjoy hearing other people's experience and perspective of Singapore, and how it compares and contrasts to other countries
Great content after the come back, sharing and food content is a good one.
Hanzawa-san has more of an Eurasian look than ang moh look. The Eurasian look is very common in SG because Eurasians are one of the four major racial groups in SG.
Right, he's more of Eurasian look (mix features of European and Asian)
That's because Mexican isn't a race. A sizable minority of Mexicans are of predominantly European descent due to Spanish colonization. Most Mexicans are of multigenerationally mixed-race ancestry, being of mixed Spanish and Amerindian descent.
This "look" and all it represents, is the future of the human race. It is happening the world over. Singapore is fortunate to have het fair share. With the national policies and aspirational direction of the Singapore govermrnt let's hope you can nurture a superior society going forward.
Ghib-san as a host is like a natural but I believe his personality clashes so much with this that he had to break some huge barriers to pull this well conducted interview lol! Thank you Crafted for the sponsorship and Leo as well for being open to answer these questions. Good job Ghib-san.
This video is very interesting. Very well executed. Both are very natural in their delivery. Like it.
thank you for creating such a wonderful video as usual :)!
People stare at him because he's very good looking!
Beat around the bush part is damn funny. Maybe the dating part wasn’t a good experience so he’s using words cautiously so as not to offend the girls he met lol.
LOL. The Terrace House Intro got me. Great vid man!
Half Mexican and half Japanese guy who was born in Australia but grew up in Japan and now lives in SG.
Wow! The food looks good.
OMG!! did u guys really finished all that incredible food? I felt full just watching u guys eat!!
You make them look so delicious. Cant wait to go.
Like this video bcoz it's a combo of an interview with a makan session. "He doesn't know what is ang moh"! I laughed out loud when ghib san said this. So funny. LoL😅.
U always have the cutest guys on your channel
私もシンガポールでインターンをしたのでなんだか懐かしくなりました〜
Hey Ghib-san. Think the location should be 'above Esplanade MRT station' or more exactly, 'South Beach Avenue'. Because the Esplanade is our durian-looking theatre by the bay. Haha!
He's very good looking Ghib😊
Grateful for a lot of Good pointers in this video
food for thought
I really like this video
Hi Ghib, love your videos and encourage you to continue YouTubing whatever makes you happy. However recently your videos on both channels have distracting background noise, although you/your guest have got microphones on. I’m no expert in this area too, but it would probably help viewers enjoy more if audio was improved. Shooting and hosting wise you did great! I know you put in a lot of hard work! Appreciate always
Ojisan "Nihongo Shaberemasuka?"
Hanzawa "Hai"
Ojisan "How 'bout Singlish eh?"
Hanzawa "No lah, not so good ah. I only speak proper English leh."
Seriously sia. The テラハ vibe is 半端ない😂😂
Hi Ghib-san! Portobello mushroomが恋しい...! I'd love to visit this restaurant someday.
Hanzawa-sanめっちゃ好青年!Hope he enjoys the rest of his stay Singapore and I'm very glad he has the options to be a global nomad 👍
So well mannered boy !
Interestingly the Japanese used a similar term 紅毛 during the Edo period to refer to Europeans (mainly the Dutch), could have been a Chinese loanword but it fell out of use thereafter. In Singaporean Hokkien angmoh refers to the same two words (紅毛) which means "red hair"
I don’t think people will stare at him as he looks Singaporean. We are quite mixed!!
That lamb chop looks so juicy and it is like melted meat. Love to try it out. But when I look at the price. $78. Wow. Wagyu beef looks cheap in comparison. haha.
Lol that Terrace house joke!
今日のお店バリおしゃれなのとラム肉が超美味そう😋話しは変わるけど今日僕神戸行ってて阪急三宮のタイ料理店でチキンライス食ったよ🎵ちなみにお値段は大盛りで1100円程度。
I know this episode isn't about the food, but still thanks for introducing more dating spots 😂
こういうシンガポールでの生活の実態って物凄くありがたい
Thanks
Thanks Lucy!
11:06 how would he know if its a singaporean? i kept being asked for directions when i was in london. in sg at least 30% of people you meet on the streets arent local, they may be uncomfortable speaking english.
Terence I think it's closer to 50 % foreigners.
I'm half Singaporean-Australian, initially raised in Indonesia then moved to Australia. As a fellow TCK (third-culture-kid) its so hard to answer "where are you from?"
Born (country), grew up (country), mostly (hyphenated mix) with a bit of fake (country)
@@yong9613 depending on who is asking, and how they are asking, determines your answer.
My answer to an market stall aunty thats surprised at my Australian accent when she's mistaken me as a local: "my grandmother was Thai, my mothers Singaporean, I'm Australian"
To a Singaporean in Singapore: "I'm Australian, but I was born here, and have family here"
To a caucasian boomer: "I'm Australian" and when they continue to be racist without sounding too racist "yes I'm Australian, my surname is Irish it goes back convict era, but I did grow up as an expat in Asia"
@@LCM8992 let me give you a salute

@@LCM8992..stupid question. I am a singaporean but my origin is from everywhere eh 😊
I think Singaporeans are simply legit busy. We are always working or schooling at full throttle. We don’t stop to look at strangers cos everyone looks normal to us. But we are known to be warm hearted even if some of us are awkward. But I suppose minding our own business may seem unfriendly it’s kinda the same with New Yorkers?
i think Singaporeans are...selective. sounds like a pretty suitable word
hi
Ang moh literally means red hair. I suspect when the Brits first landed in SG the first Brit a Sporean Chinese saw was a brunette so there you go.
Its not racist per se but may have been abused by some just like how ah neh & bayee mean older brother in tamil & punjabi but have been abused by some for racist purposes.
The term angmoh (红毛 in Hokkien dialect) didn't originate in Singapore but in southern Fujian, China where most of our ancestors came from. This is why the Taiwanese also use angmoh to refer to all things "European", for example the Fort San Domingo in Tamsui close to Taipei is also named 紅毛城 in Chinese (Ang-mng siann in Hokkien). It was first applied to the Portuguese and Dutch, not the Brits. Interestingly the Japanese used a similar term 紅毛 (こうもう koumou) during the Edo period in tandem with 南蠻 (nanban) to refer to Europeans, but it fell out of use thereafter
@@YummYakitori Interesting. I bet few people knew that. Worse part is little knowledge leads to misunderstandings. I remember this documentary where a bunch of school girls were asked & the caucasian girl was like what does that even mean? And her Chinese classmate was “oh that’s red devil” & obviously the girl was like “I’m not a devil!”.
@@P53eud0nym05 Usually Cantonese are the only ones who refer to Europeans as 鬼佬 gwailo / devils lol not the Hokkiens.
リオはディカプリオ似でハンサムだけど真面目だね〜。メキシコと日本のハーフはラテンとアジアで水と油だわな😁
We are generally unfriendly because it is the way we are bought up.
I like spicy as in not too spicy kind of food😅
He's from Australia but he sounds more American than anything else.
Eurasian bro. Not angmor. Angmor is pure white. :) He looks Eurasian and older peeps call that Cham Zeng (mix race). I think people do double takes here coz he’s pretty good looking. :) I hope he does enjoy his life here and have good memories.
Obviously Thailand people are more friendly. That's what he ks trying to say in a way not to offend anyone in sg watching this.
From the conversation I can sense he doesn't like Singapore . Don't think he will stay longer than six months. He prefers Thailand type.
Half mexican oi
Bro can you please make video on how to work as a doctor graduated from other country.
Ang-Mo = ranga
Half Japanese half napkin???
"English? Not so much"... Then proceeds to speak perfect English throughout.
they were talking about singlish not english
Omg That lamb look raw in the middle
Ang moh is not racist but ang moh gao is racist..
🤣 Ang Moh Gui, and Ang Mo Sai, seriously are.
@@clementihammock7572 What about kwailo.
Not just racist but derogatory

GOT SERVE NS OR NOT?
He’s Aussie lah
Lolll Ghib kept asking him what type of girls he likes not realizing he's uncomfortable because that boy is clearly gay lmao
Sorry, I don't think he is handsome. Quite normal and not looking like Ang Moh at all.
