M.O. on Goldy and Arenado, their best days are 95% behind them and of the 5% remaining, is going to be mostly defensive gems. Their days of being the sole source of offense are going to be very seldom at their age. It's a really hard place to be with Goldy because he's so good at 1st. He's still 3rd best at 1st base at his age. Arenado makes entirely too much money accompanying such decline. If a contract restructuring can be applied to Nolan, not lowering his Contract net worth , but adding some years then maybe it wouldn't hurt so much. Or possible deferment as in Ohtani's deal. It's hard to criticize Mozeliak for his inability to see into a player's future as in decline. But age should always factor in, and I criticize him for not factoring that into Nolan's deal.
Gio goes, three catchers, Arno and Goldie traded, Crawford and Carpenter let go, Edman takes second, Gorman third. Winn, Donovan and Siani wins glove awards.
I'm always afraid when they are playing good that will keep them from trading aggressively for what we need most. Does Siani being so good make you consider trading un-tradable players? Does Walker, Scott, Edman, and others become valuable pieces to get a real stud starter, shut down reliever or major bat? What will it take to get Scherzer and Yates or Rooker/ Miller or Crochet/ Fedde. If we don't commit to going for it this year, you might as well trade Goldschmidt to a Contender like the Yankees, who need a first baseman. Goldschmidt is due to come around. First goldsmith plays everyday . the young guys set out hurt so much . He’s absolutely a great defense first baseman. He will top thirty homers , around seventy or eighty runs batted in.this years end And please understand who’s batting in front or back of goldy it makes them a much better hitter .

Carlson’s value is the two years’ control and a RH bat on a lefty dominant hitting lineup. He needs to stay healthy and get regular playing time. I hope he does well wherever he goes
I do not trust them come playoff time. Not offensively ! No way ! However, at the corner infield spots defensively, I do. They should be 7 & 8 hitters or 8 & 9. Until the manager grows a set and puts them at the bottom of the line up , they're failures will progress.
