@alexandradillard2077 I am! Thank you for that. I was diagnosed at my first mammogram (age 40). I had to have a unilateral mastectomy. My cancer was hormone receptive and had no genetic precursors. It's so scary. The fact that she didn't crumble and instead spoke out shows the kind of strength Minnie had. ❤

She did. Back Down Memory Lane is on her last album. At the end of the song near the fade-out, she is singing "Maya, Maya." That's to her daughter Maya Rudolph
I had the privilege of seeingMinnie live in concert with Stevie Wonder when I was 15 years old. This was after Adventures in Paradise, which was my favorite album by her, was released. She put on fantastic show. The funny part is that I had no idea that she was appearing with Stevie until she came on stage and my older sister started hollering “go on Minnie! Go on sister!”😄😄! Okay. This may not be funny but I just wanted to share a memory 😉! Her intro was memorable because she came on with Reasons, and she tore into that song. The year she died, she was scheduled to perform at the now defunct Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA. My sister, some friends and I were going to see her, but…. I downloaded all of her music on my Apple Music app.
She is One of Best to ever do it. A LEGACY, AND LEGEND,that is Timeless. I am Bless to have seen you live in concert. The Ancestors have you now and you will return again.

My mom was up getting ready for work and she yelled my name and I was already up turning the T.V on and then I played back down memory lane over and over and fell that was her way of letting the world know she was leaving us
Minnie remains a Top 5 lock on my list of all-time favorite American female vocalists (other 4 being Phyllis Hyman, Lizz Wright, Teena Marie, and Judith Hill). I agree that she really didn't receive her flowers when she was still here on this earth. Her groundbreaking solo debut album ('Come To My Garden') should've made her an INSTANT household name back then, while her songwriting contributions with then-husband Richard Rudolph firmly made her a force to be reckoned with from an artistic standpoint. Her tragic passing due to breast cancer was made even more painful on account that she still had SO MUCH MORE to offer the music community at the time, but had that opportunity taken away from her so unexpectedly. At least her daughter Maya (Rudolph) was able to make a name for herself as a well-respected actress/comedienne. Today, the one artist that DOES remind me of Minnie the most (at least in spirit) is Esperanza Spalding and I'm glad she hasn't let the industry steer her "off course", either! 😌👏
Great video. I love Minnie Riperton ever since I was a child and heard Loving You for the first time. Thought the album cover with the melting ice cream cone was so cute. When she passed it hit me hard as a kid. I think I never really ever got over it. I admire her and her vocal ability so much. I loved seeing pictures and videos of her that I've haven't seen before. She was such a a musical treasure. ❤️

Lord maybe if she had lived during today’s time she would still be alive. With the promotion of mammogram screenings, genetic blood testing etc that we have now, maybe she would have had a fighting chance! Her story is so sad. My goodness she was the spitting image of her mother! ❤
My mom told me that she cried when Minnie Riperton died. That's how she felt about her. A woman who she never met but was touch by her music. Maya looks like her.
I have a couple of friends who remember when and where they were when they heard of her passing, the same way people do about JKF. And we were all adolescents at the time. That’s how much of an impact she had on us, even then. Minnie Riperton…such a songbird angel, and a woman of character and integrity. With a beautiful marriage💕 and family. Keep your eyes and ears peeled in the coming year or so. I ran into a gentleman at a local (xerox) copy store who's putting together the final bits and pieces of a writing project. Somebody is getting ready to drop a book on what happened to Minnie, Marley, and I also believe at least one other songstress that died way too young and under very mysterious circumstances. The person that I ran into literally said to me "I'm getting ready to put a book out" He then weng on to say, "I don't understand how come nobody is speaking of Clive's involvement in all of this". Then, when I looked up at him he didn't say anything more and he walked out of the copy store.

Wait was this supposed to be funny I forgot to laugh???.....This comment was so unnecessary Mariah Carey has acknowledged Minnie Ripperton many times in her career ..... This comment is so tastless and also what is wrong sounding like Barry White he is and was very successful and what he does ...... Can you sing? What can you do??? Over here making jokes about people that are more talented than you...... That's what's wrong with y'all folks today y'all are dry hating because your musically challenge and just hearing what other people say and repeating it as facts ....
Omg stop😂😂😂. I absolutely love both of these women. Very talented❤
WE know there are OTHER gifts 🎁 BUT CAN WE give Minnie HER FLOWERS 🌹🌼 AND DUE RESPECT 🙏
Thanks for sharing this story. Very inspirational ❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it!❤️
She is SOOOO MUCH MOORRRE THAN JUST "LOVIN' YOU" ...
Minnie is the G.O.A.T. She was born at the wrong time. The world wasn't ready for all that she is and all that she came with. ❤❤❤❤
Wow... Amazing voice! Just finding out that Maya Rudolph is her daughter.
I always wonder what happened to her
