Neither the Ayatollah, nor the attacker, nor 99% muslims have even read his book. The book is about those who misuse religion and god for power, and how people shpuld not fall for such "seniors in religion" but think for themselves, and develop their own understanding of god. Ayatollah just proved him right.

Salman, great warrior of truth and freedom. I’ve just bought your book Knife out of solidarity with you. Never let this attack define you. The world knows you and will always know you as someone infinitely greater than that. Go well.

I am agnostic but I respect all religions in the world I think his provocative behaviour led to this incident.Insulting people and the nature of objective morality is not a good thing.I see this man as another Thomas Harris unfortunately

@@pikiwiki Storytellers like Rushdie, appeal mostly to people who will enjoy the use of a broad palette of expressive options, the mixing of vivid dreamscapes and (sur)realism ( by associative referencing ), intertwined with the dialogues, thoughts and emotions of elegantly defined characters. Sadly, i have not had the time to read all of his books page by page, but if you contemplate reading any, i would definitely recommend Midnight's Children. Expect : Irony, humour, Satire ! Best Regards

Indeed, the prophet went to heaven using a horse with golden wings. That IS the truth. Obviously.
