Definitely a tenor. Your A4 belt while brief was still quite a bit more powerful and comfortable than your A2, which was very breathy and underdeveloped. An A2 should be a relatively easy note for a baritone and should sound much fuller, thicker, and weightier than your attempt.
Seeing as how easily and clearly (even though you're sick) you managed to hit that A5 with your head voice too I think it seals the deal that you're a tenor. Granted it's also underdeveloped, but I do think you're on track to properly engage your head resonators to create true head voice. Many baritones struggle with their head voice that high, some can't even go that high at all.
Your timbre is also very light and bright while singing. There's really none of that darkness or weight that baritones would have in their voice that you possess.
    Textbook tenor in my eyes.

I also dont find his voice “too big and heavy” for a tenor. Those are stereotypes and can also be affected by vocal placement. Even lyric tenors jn opera arent “small.”

just on that, as a question I'd like to know... is hitting the bottom of one's range and having the voice/breath/power 'disappear' just a sign that it's your lower limit, or can you train past that? I have been dealing with having a speaking range/singing range which are comparatively different, but once I get too low (perhaps A3) speaking or singing I either have to tilt the larynx to falsify some low or nothing comes out. I'm still in my 'infancy' of singing, want to know 'all the things' (:

Also dont base ur range in falsetto. Ur lower notes could become more projected as ur gain more vocal closure. Right now theyre a little too breathy. Overall just sing what sounds and feels good to you.

can closure be learned or trained? ie can you lower your range in a healthy and useful way?

@@gonnfishy2987 you can do exercises that improve vocal closure. Generally how low you can go will be limited by genetics. You can learn to hit some lower notes, but if you’re a tenor you won’t suddenly turn into a bass. It will still sound like your voice but what’s important for voice type is where your voice is most resonant and comfortable, and also the natural tone.
I often get or was called a Baritone but I’m on the border between tenor and baritone and have developed a very good powerful tenor voice. I can get maybe a few extra notes with some erxercizes, or sometimes it’s just a good day lol. But where my voice is most resinant and comfortable is what matters. I can creeknout low bass notes but thats not where I like to sing.

@@gonnfishy2987 another note is that chord closure/ckmoression is not just for low but high notes. And for a good quakity siund you want the voice to be open. The language people use for singing is sometimes counterintuitive thats also why I recommend a qualified teacher that has not only sung themselves but successfully taight other successful teachers because the best singers arent always the best teachers.
I myself must be humble. I have a beutiful and powerful voice, but I’m also still relatively new and have a lot to learn. The question is whats your goal with singing, and why do you want to extend your range? When you or I understand why then you or Inir someone else can better understand how to help you.

@@joshuamclean4588 Thanks for all these insights, I'm a mezzo but can identify and relate similar issues simply relating to vocal function, no matter what register m/f it is taking place in. I'm in lessons and have am confident in my limited range so far, it's just disappointing that I can't go as low as I imagined, talking and singing are not as alike as I once imagined.

Wow... I must be benefiting from all my ear training and singing lessons... I can understand and 'know the sound/feel' of everything you speak of; it's not so much I haven't intuitively understood it, it's just that now I have the terms and understand how to put it all together. (I'm a mezzo but I think it's equally applicable within voice generally?) (haven't commented on your voice yet lol) ok now on to your voice... well yeah I'd put you at tenor I guess... sheesh .... why does A4-A5 sound so 'high' and pushed for you? That's basically when I gain my strength and clarity, it's where I 'live'.... I'm still getting used to my 'place' in the vocal landscape but it sounds so different between males and females. Huhhhhh to state the obvious? (sorry my forte and love is opera/musical theatre/castrati/contratenor .... so that's where my ear is tuned to.

not sure why they thought your voice was too big to bea tenor. the tenor voice is much bigger than people sterotype iot to be. if anyhting, you sound like a higher tenor.

@@vsings1091 you're probably right not like an abnormally high tenor but like a mid/full lyric tenor or between lyric/spinto maybe, or just regular tenor dont worry about those labels. I don't want to try to give you a classification. I know for sure tenor though, but I would like to hear you when your voice is healthy and not sick, and also with a bit of training not to say you arent doing great already. have you had any training or professional training? the classical technique will reveal what type of tenor you would really fir in but for reference I'm either like a baritenor or type of lower tenor so I often get mistaken for a baritone and my voice is definitely deeper and has more comfort and strength in the lower range, but we also probably have the same high notes but mine naturally are even more deeper and also have warmth to my tone. to the point where I could probably sing both baritone and tenor but my teacher leans toward low tenor rather than high baritone for me. thats why I sometimes say Baritenor. anyway, I hope that helps. I may have exagerated when I said high tenor tho but probably not a really low tenor either. somewhere in the middle-high middle. I meant higher as in not a low tenor but closer to the lyric which is average so somewhere in the middle haha. Lyric tenors also have some variety in terms of timbre, some are more full, some are darker some are really bright it also depends on technique their using.

@@vsings1091 actually bro the more I think about it I wanna just say don't worry about voicetypes. I've been called baritone, tenor, even bass at times and I know what I know and what my voiceteacher says. but ultimately whats important is what you're comfortable singing. tenor is simply the range you will sing and a guideline for how you can find the right parts suitable for you. but when singing your own stuff or different genres all that matters is that your voice is free, comfortable and able to express itself in a healthy way that sounds the way you want to sound (I say it that way because whats good can sometimes be subjective.) when we talk about subcategories like types of tenor or baritone etc... high low, it's because everyones voice is gonna be different and were all unique. so it refers to certain timbre and tone qualities within that range someone can comfortably/healthily produce. Most will have some overlap between different subcategories and some rare voices can go even beyond whats considered "average." (but bigger range doesnt mean better singing, so just use the gift you have the best you can and master your gift and skill to your best ability.)
and unless you actually wanna sing opera, a lot of what opera singers do is less natural, so make sure you have a good teacher to help you keep your natural and healthy and beautiful voice. so even what was said before about high, low, types doesn't matter. some voices can extend through different ranges that arent typical for their voicetype etc...
I would definitely describe you as a tenor and would think people saying your voice is abritone and too heavy to be a tenor is greatly mistaken though. people just hear really light or high ranged tenors or tenors singing with high head voice or breathy tones and think thats what defines all tenors but were all different. I'm still considered a tenor but think my voice sounds great with a lot of baritones and can sing great rich sounding low notes for a tenor but also can be comfortable singing in the tenor range. but that took a lot of training and for a long time thought I was a baritone and you would forgive me for thinking so. anyway I wish you all the best and hope you get everything you want from your voice! and PS This is not a critique, saying good or bad, I will add that even tone wise in your higher range it's not as heavy as many low tenors like myself who can often be mistaken for baritones too. or sometimes can be baritones singing high hwich makes us also mistakena s baritones singing high especially when we do have a very nice low range but this doesnt matter. jsut learn to master your own voice and love it brother, you will do well. people also greatly underestimate how powerful opera singers are and need to be. most pop singers dont sing as powerfully or full as high lyric operatic tenors.

@@vsings1091 I dunno. Just my thoughts... people place too much on 'what range am I' or "I can sing so high, I must be a somethingorother" but in my experience it doesn't matter what label you put on yourself, you will have quite a useful range outside of those bounds (and a further un-useful range). Don't know what experience/stage you're at, don't stop reinforcing your tessitura but don't forget to nourish the notes which make you bigger/more versatile than where you are placed. I literally found I was a totally different register than what everyone 'told me I should be', through just giving myself the space to explore and thrive

Comsidering ur lower range vs high range and overall quality you do sound like a tenor and sayingnurntoo beefy for a tenor isnjust stereotyping the voice. U could learn some technique to get better closure on the low notes but right now being less comfortablenin an a2 and not being comfortable going lower while belting an a4 with apparent ease indicates probably a tenor. Time and technique should extend ur range.
