- Voice Meeter Banana Is an amazing software that lets you output your computer's sounds to more than one device at a time 3 different ones to be exact. It also lets you bring in 3 different audio devices from microphones to capture cards as well. giving you more and complete control over what your different software hear including OBS Studio.
You can even monitor your own voice when testing out the different ways their filter can make your voice sound.
I wish I would have started using voice Meeter way sooner than I did because it would have had me sounding wonderful for longer.

@@vincenttongos1988 in simple terms, a compressor reduces loudness if the sound goes over a specific level (the compressor "attacks" it). This lets you make sure your mic will never peak and let you scream into it.

And here I was, manually unplugging my monitors so I could route the outs/ins from the back of my soundcard to the front so I could record things from the web. For years.
I thought I was clever, having "figured it out myself".

This is an awesome tutorial, covers not just how to get a basic setup but why you are doing those things. I just mirrored step for step the last tutorial I watched but you actually explained why I want to take those steps and what they are actually doing.
One thing I haven't been able to figure out is setting up mic monitoring. The delay doesn't bother me, but I want feedback from my mic but turned down for me and not the virtual output. Essentially I want the mic volume to be normal in the party chat, but very quiet in my headset. I do not know how to do that.
Thank you! I be trying to explain as much I can without wasting peoples time. I rerecorded this videos so many times because I felt like it was too long haha.
And Right now I’m not sure they have a way that would work since when you monitor you mic or other sources through your headphones the only way to turn them down is to turn down the entire device in the software. You may have to look into doing what I do now. I have a different mic call the sure mv7 and it has an headphone jack on it so that’s where my headphones hook up to and the mic it’s self monitors my voice at whatever volume I choose and it’s latency free as well then I’m free to turn everything up or down how I like it inside of voice meeter. And if you don’t want that mic it’s a lot of other mics that have the same feature.
But that’s the only way I think you can do what you’re looking to do right now until they maybe add some new features.
Wait I know what you could do. You’d have to turn down the A1 track volume that your mic is coming through. But leave your actual mics sound level alone. Then that way it’s down for you and your ears that are listening to the A1 track but the virtual track should be left untouched.
But then again even that would depend on how you have other things and sounds routed and what they are all routed too.
@@YXLtheMAN You gave me an idea actually that might be pretty clever if the software can do it. I wonder if it would be possible to say run your system audio on the VAIO main, then patch the mic into VAIO aux then send both to the A# outputs. That way you could keep the mic gain alone but change the VAIO aux gain so it mixes into the A# at a lower volume without making you quiet to the party. I guess I have some reading to do because I don't even know what terminology in the settings i'm looking for, lol.
Haha yeah that’s how I be feeling sometimes. Know exactly what you need but don’t know how to look for it yet. If you remember Let us know if you get it sorted out just in case someone else runs into the same thing.

Nice tutorial, I have a Studio mic (apogee hypemic) which sounds good my defaut, but it only sounds good, if I don't configure the gate. With the gate set up, the quality goes down to a very bad Level. I can't figure it out. Hello, Can I use this for TikTok live streaming with a sound card or can I use this instead of a sound card ? I have been having a lot of sound problems when live singing using the v8 sound card. something i'm trying to figure out.. i have the voice sounding the way i want it, but when i'm hitting "record" on the cassette it doesn't seem to be adding the voice effect from the pan on the left. any idea why? i have a slight echo and popping in real time but the voice recording has nothing.
has anyone had an issue with your mic giving game audio but at a lowered level, whenever i play and talk the people I'm in a call with are able to hear my game thru my mic even if I'm muted or the mic is disconnected

And I haven’t really streamed in a while, then when I tried to start back was having issues with internet provider that never happened before and have been trying to sort that out with them for months now🤦🏽♂️. But before when I had it’s usually been on UA-cam. I have a twitch too.

Thank you! And I’m not sure. But I don’t think so since voicemeeter just sees what’s going on inside the computer and makes its real and virtual connections after that. You’d have to find a way to just send them to your self then download them on the computer.

5:43 my mic default format is 1 channel, 16 bit, 48000hz? do i need to enable mono? I don't route my mic through voice meeterr I just add the mic input in obs so since its a 1 channel mic do i need to set it to mono in the advanced audio settings in obs?
If you can hear it on both sides left and right then it’s fine. I only mono my mic because it’s a stereo mic and so sometimes it sounds like I’m louder on whatever side I’m talking towards and that annoys me.

Hey great video! I have been using voicemeeter for years. However, you hit on a point I cannot figure out at 3:42 in, that confirms the way it should operate regarding hearing yourself in your headphones (monitoring your sound). I cannot turn off my self monitoring, no matter what I do. Even with A1 not selected and the volume is completely down or muted, I still hear myself. It gets greyed out, but I still hear myself? I've double checked my windows 10 sound settings with "listen option tuned off" etc. Any thoughts?

wow thanks for the quickest reply ever! Good question, I play guitar and sing into a mic both plugged into an audiobox 96 audio interface which is connected to the computer through a usb cable. The audio interface has a blender button which goes from full local to full internet sound, but I still hear myself either way in the headset. In this circumstance, the audio interface is selected as A1 (which includes the headset) in voicemeeter per their tutorials. My pc speakers our A2. I shoot all sound to the online app through b2.
I'm guessing it the audio interface then?

I was thinking the only thing that should cause what you’re having happen is if your mic or what the headphones are connected to have monitoring of your voice on by default and won’t let it turn off. My microphone is the same way and so I have to plug my headphones or speakers directly into my computer and let voice meeter fully see everything and be in control all the way.
ok thanks for getting back to me @@YXLtheMAN Yeah, sounds like you have usb connected headphones to allow for that then. I have to assume it has to do with my audio interface as the sound does grey out in voicemeeter so it seems to be working properly. Guess I have to live with it. It tends to effect my control over sound when playing others online in the jamkazam app I use. I am now trying to figure out best way to "pipe" in sound from a backing track app called "jamzone" into the "jamkazam" so it can be heard by everyoine, which is a whole other topic lol Anyway, I just subscribed my friend!

I usually only set up what I use. So no you don’t have to do the first part you said if you don’t want to. But if you ever don’t want to use the headphones and what not. You’d already have it set up how it needs to be for the few moments you just need to hear something right fast with out the headphones.

It can. But It depends on if the soundboard software lets you choose where the sound goes then you can choose which of the virtual channels you want it to go to. I’ve done it with an elgato stream deck a long time ago.
@@YXLtheMAN My bigger issue is that I also have a GoXLR in the mix here. My mic is plugged into the GoXlr so I can't select the mic itself as my mic. And the options in the Windows setup screen don't have the mic as an input option. This gets SO complicated with all these boxes on the desk that someone who knows what they are doing would actually have to sit here (or remote in) and see it because to do it over messages would require 25 screen shots. The soundboard itself is a script I wrote in Bootstrap. The sounds play fine but they don't go out through Google Voice. That's what I made the soundboard for, to play sound bytes during calls. The real problem is finding someone who is willing to remote in and look at what I am trying to do. I am sure people have done this, but the first hit that came up as a youtube hit was a video from 10 years ago that s no longer relevant in Windows 11. Such is life... What makes me sad is that as good as I am on a DAW and mixing my own music, routing tracks to a group (thus using virtual patch cables) so I can apply effects to the group, etc... THIS is stumping me. I thought I was smarter than this. 😞

You have it selected to go through the wrong channels

If I’m understanding fully what you mean.
The only thing that will hear the changes you made to the mic in obs will be a recording or life stream from obs. The mic would be a blank slate with no filters inside of voidemeeter until you make changes to it in voicemeeter. And the sound from stream deck will go through as long as it’s set up correctly.
@@YXLtheMAN I got my stream deck sounds coming thru after watching a few of your vids. My mic is a snowball ice it sounds like ass in vmb but in obs it sounds great. I’m wondering what I can do to improve my mic sound in vmb without altering the output to obs. I have downloaded mini host from image line and the reaper vst but when I set that up it sounds good in vm but sounds like ass in obs. I’m mostly trying to Denoise fans in game chat but want my recordings to be crisp audio wise. Mostly when I use the vst and minihost my voice sounds robotic in obs
@defi_papi I had a mic that caused me the same things before. And voiceneeter never helped me with it sounding better. I could get it to do right in obs like you’re saying but not in both. I ended up just saying people would have to just deal with it sounding wild haha. And I just kept using it until I could get a different mic. My apologies I’m not of more help. Also Where do you have your microphone placed when using it? The snow balls need to be pretty close to your mouth on a mic arm or something . and away from other sound sources if possible.
@@YXLtheMAN thank u my dood I actually rewatched your video and made sure everything was right and I watched an other vid saying to try the virtual cable as an output and it didn’t work at first but when I enabled monitoring and put a virtual cable as a 2nd mic I can get it to play out of b2 now so I’ll use b2 for my games and try to route the sounds to b2 and see how that works if not I may have to go to vm potato

I explained why it’s doing that in the video. Voice meeter lets you select where each added device goes and you have your voice and mic selected to go to the speaker

Don’t forget to use that monitoring feature when you want to change the filter of the mic. I was changing it and looking at a live stream on twitch and then remembered I didn’t have to do it that way 🤦🏽♂️

Its a several different reasons that could happen. But I explain it all in this video. You have to watch all the way through to fully know what all to do and how it’s done.

Because this isn’t a how to install VB cables video. And all you do is download it and then do a restart to finish installing. The program tells you what to do inside it.

Yes as long as you don’t change the vocal settings in the app it won’t alter your mic at all

When I try to download voice meter banana, it downloads voice meter pro setup. I can't find the banana version anywhere on the website. Help?
When I downloaded it I noticed it downloaded other one too. I went to voice meeter banana folder when I hit the windows button and it showed the other ones.

You probably have just regular voice meeter then. Sometimes it downloads all the versions and you can search for voice meeter banana inside of your windows button search area. Or you can go and get the voice meter banana from their website
This tutorial was very good but my only problem is that my microphone and headphones don’t work in game chat… I can hear myself through A1 but my game chat doesn’t find my voice and I can’t hear anything
