She's definitely not the best - but Witchcrafter Madame Verre is both strong and incredibly funny. I've got a clip on my channel of this, but one time I had a timelord player attack her only for me to use both her effects and make them dome themselves for 6k.
Witchcrafters were meta in duel links but then again lots of things have been. Although they also won an unlimited tournament there so that is a stand out achievement for the deck.
@@crunchy687 Yeah, I feel like the main point of duel links is to give decks that didn't get much play a time to shine. The main funny thing though is Witchcrafters released in paper in 2019 and were put in Duel Links, a way lower power version of the game, in 2020 LOL.
Witchcrafters are my main deck and Verre is absolutely one of the best boss monsters in the game. I think she's one of the best-designed Yu-Gi-Oh cards in general: a powerful negate that actually requires strategy within the archetype (which card to discard, when to discard, etc). Not only that, but the battle effect is hilarious. I completed the "When your opponent's monster attacks, your opponent takes damage" secret mission JUST from people crashing into Verre.
@@MoskalMedia People not reading verres battle effect and killing themselves gives me life honestly LOL. I agree though, she's fair for a skill drain on legs in that it's only a single burst of negate - so you have to save it for big threats or key combo pieces which makes it much more scary to use.
Yeah, the reality is that there's more main deck boss monsters than people actually give credit to, it's just that they hyperfocus on the flashy extra deck spam decks and think the whole game is like that when the reality is that there's a huge variety of strategies.
UCT itself, brought me back to Yu-Gi-Oh! I hadn’t played since 2007 and I watched a CIMOOOOOOO video about how you could buy three of them and make a competitive deck and I did and I cannot tell you how many games I have one off the back of UCT. The artwork is immaculate, and the effect is dominant. it really is one of my favorite cards.
Didn't MBT do that during one of his big "unban" tournaments? Although I think that the consensus wound up being that, rather than Masterpeace being the issue, it was him unbanning like half the draw spells.
As a Witchcrafter player I can say Madame Verre can slow down games like no one else, a quick effect full board negate is really powerful in spite of almos always negating a single monster
Going in, I'm saying Balor (Balerdroch). Negates monsters anywhere AND banishes from field or GY *without targeting*, but keeps coming back so your opponent can't just out him ONCE.
Lava Golem, Chaos Sorcerer, Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End, Vanity's Fiend, Majesty's Fiend, Vanity's Ruler, Dark Necrofear, Armed Dragon Thunder Lv10, etc.
Drytron Meteonis Draconids is a 4K beater that can attack multiple times and has multiple target non destruction removal on a quickie. Shame it got overshadowed by Herald
@@manjackson2772but he sort of is A cubic boss. Sure Trinity is THE boss but Crimson is the actual good boss monster in the deck. And thats the one people build the decks around so id say ye hes the main boss monster of Cubics

Although the Deck itself isn't that strong, Ancient Warriors Rebellious Lu feng ( Lu Bu) is , in my book considered to be the main deck boss monster for the archetype. Easily searchable, just summons itself when it see any ancient warrior monster, has a Quick Effect Pop (which allows Majority of your Ancient warriors to activate during your opponent turn) and it is high beat stick.

Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End. The OG boss monster. CED would likely still be banned to this day if not for the errata. Absolutely nutty that they printed this card 20 years ago, it still holds up.
I would like to nominate Ocean Dragon Lord - Kairyu-Shin because despite what mainstream media would have you believe, it IS more than just a floodgate! It searched the most broken continuous trap as well as one of the all-time greatest normal traps! Also it's a floodgate :)
Although the one card nobody plays when using live twin (curse you Sprights for stealing a cool solo archetype) their main deck boss monster always deserves a spot when playing them cuz how fun they are
Abyss actors, Solfachords, dinomist. There's soo many but the thing is pendulum just isn't that good apart from Endymion pendulum is sort of seen as the weakest mechanic
I've been getting into playing Solfachords lately, and they're very different from the boring old too often seen [Endymion Magical Beast] and [Odd-Eyes Pendulum Magician] decks. Those two just vomit their hands, 1/2 the main deck, and a good portion of their Extra onto the field turn 1 to end on typical boring boards of multiple negates. Solfachords play Pendulum in a much more control style. Using Pendulum as an actual summoning mechanic to create infinite materials over multiple turns, while being back row light enough to be able to play other control things like Torrential or Solemns or And The Band Played On. The fact Solfachords can somewhat easily make a full 6 mat Arrival @Ignister is just icing on the cake. (the main deck Solfachords are the elemental attributes, several other pend staples like Darkwurm/Gate Zero/Astrograph/Beyond are Dark, and the Solfachord link 2 and ME-PSY-YA are Light; I also have Zefra Metaltron for an easy link 3 with three down arrows that also happens to be Light) I also happen to enjoy the fact they don't share levels (thus exclude XYZ), have no in archetype Tuner (thus exclude Synchros), and no in archetype fusion effect (thus exclude Fusions). They hinge on Pendulums and Links exclusively, and I happen to enjoy that far more than most other decks that are just "spam materials to make the same bunch of overpowered completely generic ED monsters every other deck makes."
@@LadyTsunade777 I play abyss actors. I love them for the simple fact that stealing monsters is my favorite gimmick. My first ever deck was a dark Necrofear deck and it uhh wasn't very good I loved using fiends and tried to play D/D/D but it just felt too stale. Abyss actors having soo many fun gimmicks with evil heel reducing attack, comic relief stealing cards, Superstar wiping the field with abyss scripts it was probably the most fun I've ever had with the deck.
@@Honest_Mids_Mashereven compared to ritual? I know ritual has had more meta destroying archetypes come out of it but thats mostly because those cards were poorly balanced and designed. Ritual as a mechanic is way weaker than pendulum
@@EXFrost IMO at this point with how many good generic ritual engines/support cards they have I'm actually thinking it's in a better spot. It's definitely on par with rituals though in terms of strength.
Master and later Majesty Hyperion are my picks. I love pulling out Master, Master Flare and Majesty for a clean 8k lethal after banishing 5 and clearing everything. Sometimes all you need is 1 big dude, 3x.
I will proposeAncient Warriors - Rebellious Lu Feng" as as an honorly greatest boss monster. I can't in good conscience out him on that list because of two glaring flaws, but first the good. He's a free special summon for Anceint Warriors and he has a non-targeting quick effect monster destruction effect. Why I can only put on the honorable mentions list, is because firstly, you can't activate any monster effects other than Ancient Warriors if you want to use his effect. :l So got to chose between handtrapping or his effect. Secondly as his name implies he switches sides if you don't have the highest monster on field. If only he would allow for the use of other monster effects than I could put him on this list, but alas.
I'm not shocked no one mentioned Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes. Big pain to get out, used to be a big pain to get rid of, if not outright impossible. Unaffected by spells, traps, and monster effects. Cannot be targeted by those effects. Has an alternative win-con built right in. Usually will have about 4000 attack. Can revive itself if it's destroyed by battle.
How did no one mention BLS? It it basically defined what a boss must be. Easy to bring out, strong immediate removal/pressure, Blue Eyes stats Only things missing are interruption and protection, which wouldn’t be invented until Synchro Six Sams
My pick is Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. In Edison Format he is THE heart and soul of Disaster Dragon and you can argue he's the boss monster of 2012's Chaos Dragon deck as well. In Modern YGO just a an extender for Dragon spam but when he first came out the gameplan of summon REDMD, get him to stick and win off the back of summoning dragons turn after turn was legit. Still is in modern Edison.
I still have to laugh during one of the Master Duel events I went up against someone playing Kaijus with Waterfront (obviously). They thought they had the upper hand when they Kaiju'd me... by giving me Gameciel... while Waterfront was on the field with 5 counters. Then they summoned Dogoran tried to nuke my board just for the Gameciel they gave me to negate and banish it.
Alghoul Mazera can be pretty crazy. It can save your monsters from destruction without starting a new chain, then summon itself to the field every turn. Used it against an accesscode destruction effect and my opponent was so confused bc accesscode can’t be responded to under normal circumstances.
Mermail abyssmegalo, Therion regulus, nekroz of trishula, and the tribute floodgates like vanity's fiend and vanity's ruler all deserve an honorable mention I think.
If you ever see someone whip out King of the Skull Servants in a duel, you know you’re in for a good time. I swear skull servant players are the most chill people in Yugioh
Does block dragon count. If not, for your consideration: orbital hydralander. Not the strongest but definitely the coolest mechanical design for a main boss monster
Witchcrafter Madame Verre is such a good card. You would think that people would read, but they just see the word "negate" and think that's the only effect. My favorite words when playing Witchcrafters are "damage calc?".
Surprised nobody mentioned Infernoid Onuncu and Devyaty. Black hole and Heavy storm on legs, they can come back pretty much every turn and they are negates that banish on top of it!
Mementoal Tecuhtlicah Combined Creation is a 5k ATK and DEF for Mementos that goes crazy and is surprisingly easy to summon if you know what you’re doing. Funny main deck boss monster.
Nobody mentioned it but... Witchcrafter Madame verre was actually a very difficult card to deal with when witchcrafters first released. She negates all monsters your opponents controls once per turn as a quick effect and could randomly gain several thousand attack and defense just cus.
Chirubime Princess of Autumn Leaves, Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei, and why not, Awakening of the Possessed Rasenryu. Or maybe just Aria the Melodious Diva.
Surprised he didn’t mention Superancient DeepSea King Coleacanth. That monster is literally +3 on monster effect activation, a SOFT once per turn, can bring out a field of material for extra deck summons, and whenever new fish support is released, people check to see if it’s compatible with the king. Just a shame the best card that searches him is a battle trap’s GY effect.
An extra shotout fro Doomking because I love him: I haven't seen any other card that say "You can only apply" and I'm probably not the only one, seeing how many people don't realize that he can keep activating his Quick Effect until both resolve succesfully. You just don't say no to the King... unless you negate it until the end of the turn of course
Main deck bosses are so satisfying, they do need more love. Also, I'm happy me and the Endymion gang got him in the video! He's too much fun. New Endymion support when?
Interestingly enough, most modern main boss monsters are searchable one way or another to keep up with the ease of accessing Extra Deck bosses. Hell, a card like Chaos Space has even made many older boss monsters (DAD, BLS, Chaos Sorc, JD) searchable now, compared to the good old days when even a deck as impressive as DAD returns could wait a significant amount of time to bring in its biggest threat.
Infernoid Onuncu. I know Tierra is bigger, but a 3k/3k that's a Heavy Storm on summon and a walking Spell Jammer is pretty dope. Dude won me many a locals in SECE/CROS/CORE formats (I went to Majespecter/Performage, then Odd-Eyes Magician in DOCS).
I know I'm bias because I'm falling in love with icejade, but aegirine (not rhan or gymir), is pretty good for a level 3, it search ANYTHING from the archetype, if she gets targeted or attacked she summons ANY water monster from the hand or gy and with level 7 tuners in the archetype that can easily be baronne, chengying or rhan, doesn't restrict you in any way shape or form, doesn't have to be normal summoned, and if she happens to be left in the endboard is not the end of the world, cause this 1k level 3, can actually be a 3501-4501 attack beatstick. But, the cornerstone of the deck, the field spell, have one of the worse restrictions I've ever seen, you can only activate 1 per turn, for a card that needs to be in the field in order for the deck to work, the fact that if it gets destroyed you can't play another is an absolute tragedy.
I think the biggest impact Towers has had is how cards were designed after it. It set a new standard without which cards like Master Piece wouldn't exist.
Rad, I made it in I shill Jioh to my friends a lot, and it's the closest I've gotten to convincing some non-YGO players to give it a try, just because of his facedown effect, god it rocks
Probably a weird one, but I would say Lightpulsar Dragon can count since it set up other Chaos cards while in the GY, is a Chaos card himself, and can bring back a higher level dragon when sent to the GY, usually REDMD
Soo not only is lightpulsar a card with no archetype but if you include lightpulsar in chaos it works as an engine card and not as a boss monster. I mean you say it set up for redmd which is obviously a maindeck bossmonster. But lets stay with chaos monsters. Why wouldnt you bring up Chaos emperor dragon or chaos dragon levianeer? Dude your name is chaos magician how about Dark magician of chaos another one.
I'm going with Evil Twin Ki-sikil & Lil-la. It's a 4400 attack monster that is easily searchable and summonable with Trouble Sunny and works as an Evenly Matched if your opponent has more than 3 cards on the field
Probably one of my favorite twitter threads so far, I play Dinosaurs and Heroes almost entirely because of how much their boss monsters feel like flashy nonsensical anime bullshit
Yeah UCT would be my shout. Stupidly easy to summon (funny side note, I was having huge success with it in Tear) 3500atk let's it attack over basically anything, has a form of removal and can wipe ur opponent's board.
One of the things I like about plant decks like aroma and traptrix is that they can search generic monsters and normal summon them. Which makes me really annoyed that there is yet to be a super fire main deck plant boss monster added to the game yet. I don't need more sunavolon links or synchro's just give me a good beat stick that can negate random stuff and I'll run it any plant deck.

6:55 unironically the best part of playing dinos, being in a gamestate where its almost unwinnable, opponent has 2 negates on 5 bodies but only like 2000 lp and you have at least 2 dinos in game, then topdeck the UCT innate summon it doesnt create a chainlink so opponent just doesnt do anything and you kill everything for game. Absolute fucking anime level win feeling.
I'm trying to make a Witchcrafter deck in MD
"I wish they still made cards like this"
My guy, Jioh came out in Photon Hypernova
Vernusylph goddess came out in POTE
What are you on?
Yeah, the reality is that there's more main deck boss monsters than people actually give credit to, it's just that they hyperfocus on the flashy extra deck spam decks and think the whole game is like that when the reality is that there's a huge variety of strategies.
Mighty master does everything a boss should do all at once. He negates, boardwipes, has target/destruction protection, and searches once in a while
UCT itself, brought me back to Yu-Gi-Oh!
Towers was what the Gods should have been. He is literally the definition of boss.
Master Peace is probably power crept enough at this point to come to 1, but I’ll never forgive him for his crimes
He's...still pretty strong
Having said that, we can skip straight to unlimiting him
Didn't MBT do that during one of his big "unban" tournaments? Although I think that the consensus wound up being that, rather than Masterpeace being the issue, it was him unbanning like half the draw spells.
@@DoctorOaks some pretty cancerous boardstates can definitely surround master peace tho. Like skill drain
@@DoctorOaks more like the master peace win con is floodgate that ppl unprepared, the draw engine make the deck way too strong that it should be
Aquiphort Towers
Gren Maju De Eiza
Jinzo/Dark Ruler Ha Des back in the early days
Black Luster Soldier - EotB for early days as well.
Cydra: .......
Agents hyperion is still kinda main deck boss monster. Only recently with the release of pluto and the sycro hyperion are there more boss options.
He protecc he attacc but more importantly he flips your monsters on their bacc
As a Witchcrafter player I can say Madame Verre can slow down games like no one else, a quick effect full board negate is really powerful in spite of almos always negating a single monster
Going in, I'm saying Balor (Balerdroch). Negates monsters anywhere AND banishes from field or GY *without targeting*, but keeps coming back so your opponent can't just out him ONCE.
Gren Maju won a YCS in 2019 I think around before Striker Orcust became more prominent.
Good to see Balerdroch and Citadel mentioned. Ruinforce is up there too. BTW, the big dragons of Dragoonmaids count?
Yes, their a negate, a revive. Sadly the archetype is mediocre and plays rely on normal Aleister.
I dont think the big dragons count, the boss monster of dragonmaids is sheou and/or house, the big dragon versions arent the win condition of the deck
Citadel and Ruinforce being discard cost, gy recursion, and game closers:
*RUMDIDDLY-DUM-DUM*
I'm surprised Crimson Nova didn't come up as it does kinda autowin against a ton of decks, at least those that don't play much backrow
It's not really a cubic boss though is it, it's just its own thing
@@manjackson2772but he sort of is A cubic boss. Sure Trinity is THE boss but Crimson is the actual good boss monster in the deck. And thats the one people build the decks around so id say ye hes the main boss monster of Cubics
I remember seeing Crimson Nova mentioned in the thread, but it didn't make the final cut of the video it seems.
Every single "Can't believe X didn't come up" comes up. They just get edited out, even if Joseph does goes into detail and has relevant comments about them, as it was the case for Crimson Nova during the stream.
Im amazed King Regulus wasn't brought up
That's because he's a part main deck boss monster
Honestly most people view him as : "oh yeah, earth machine has a judgement now"
Although the Deck itself isn't that strong, Ancient Warriors Rebellious Lu feng ( Lu Bu) is , in my book considered to be the main deck boss monster for the archetype. Easily searchable, just summons itself when it see any ancient warrior monster, has a Quick Effect Pop (which allows Majority of your Ancient warriors to activate during your opponent turn) and it is high beat stick.
Blue eyes jetdragon is another great bossmonster its easy to bring out protects the field and bounces if it attacks or gets attacked i love this card
I just fucked up a Runick player with double Jet Dragon, it's actually really OP, they kept trying to destroy my cards and couldn't, it really helps that nobody respects Blue Eyes players enough to read their cards.
@@DaDualityofMan yep very true i play blue eyes in like 3 different ways blue eyes dogmatika blue eyes syncrocat and a dragonlink version too its just fun what you can do with good old blue eyes love this archtype
I really hate Jet Dragon, haha. As a Blue-Eyes fan I love it, but playing against it in Master Duel is such a nightmare. I lost a duel with my Marincess deck because I misread the card (thought it only bounced monsters!) and they bounced my Battle Ocean in the battle phase. Devastating!
@@MoskalMedia I hate Marincess because you guys take forever, a funny game I had against Marincess was I spent all the time watching them combo off into the boss monster only to Skill Drain and Successor Soul it and my Jet Dragon
@@DaDualityofMan Haha yeah we really do take forever. I accidentally lost a long duel against a Hero player last night in Master Duel because I hit the time limit! Oops.
I'm impressed you pulled off an awesome Successor Soul move! I'm glad I didn't have to go through an experience like that, haha
Doomking Balerdroch is a bonkers boss monster. Makes me wish he got a synchro variation. Also just…more starters other than Uni-Zombie.
That outro is truly one of a kind
Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End. The OG boss monster. CED would likely still be banned to this day if not for the errata. Absolutely nutty that they printed this card 20 years ago, it still holds up.
I would like to nominate Ocean Dragon Lord - Kairyu-Shin because despite what mainstream media would have you believe, it IS more than just a floodgate! It searched the most broken continuous trap as well as one of the all-time greatest normal traps!
Also it's a floodgate :)
Elaborate
0:26 i love that meme reference
Although the one card nobody plays when using live twin (curse you Sprights for stealing a cool solo archetype) their main deck boss monster always deserves a spot when playing them cuz how fun they are
I’m really surprised nobody said Kozmo Dark Destroyer
Yeah me too honestly
Someone did, MBT just skipped over it.
I wish more pendulum decks had maindeck boss monsters.
(the main deck Solfachords are the elemental attributes, several other pend staples like Darkwurm/Gate Zero/Astrograph/Beyond are Dark, and the Solfachord link 2 and ME-PSY-YA are Light; I also have Zefra Metaltron for an easy link 3 with three down arrows that also happens to be Light)
I also happen to enjoy the fact they don't share levels (thus exclude XYZ), have no in archetype Tuner (thus exclude Synchros), and no in archetype fusion effect (thus exclude Fusions).
Easy to bring out, strong immediate removal/pressure, Blue Eyes stats
Only things missing are interruption and protection, which wouldn’t be invented until Synchro Six Sams
Agree
Same with CED pre errata. That thing was an absolute monster.
It’s truly hurts me to know there isn’t enough love for Kozmo Dark Destroyer. 😢
2:35
So we haven't forgotten the KING yet!
I'm surprised nobody mentioned Kairyu shin.
Flodgate lord or vanilla?
@@idosarts_and_krafts Floodgate lord of course
@@sacrilegiousboi117 I figured
Time to run this back and add Snake-Eyes Flamberge Dragon to the list
Mementoal Tecuhtlicah Combined Creation is a 5k ATK and DEF for Mementos that goes crazy and is surprisingly easy to summon if you know what you’re doing. Funny main deck boss monster.
Ahh yes, I summon a large man, which allows me to summon an even larger man.
Kinda a new card but, Dogmatika Alba Zoa. Goodbye opponent's extra deck
Chaos emperor dragon envoy of the end was something else
Balerdroch: you can keep negating me but I'll fucking do it again
That shit should be got rid somewhere else than GY
Machina Citadel my favorite card of all time!
Nobody mentioned this but block dragon is the honorable boss monster of adamancipator, I'm speaking as an ex-ada player.
The next dino support is an example of extra deck boss monsters which proves his point
REGULAR SHOW INTRO. I love it.
Doomking Baledroch made me love using Zombie decks
Jinzo is so good that even at one you cannot run traps that do not win on their own
*laughs in traptrix*
@@DarkAuraLord ask Trap Hole how long his timeout was
I know I'm bias because I'm falling in love with icejade, but aegirine (not rhan or gymir), is pretty good for a level 3, it search ANYTHING from the archetype, if she gets targeted or attacked she summons ANY water monster from the hand or gy and with level 7 tuners in the archetype that can easily be baronne, chengying or rhan, doesn't restrict you in any way shape or form, doesn't have to be normal summoned, and if she happens to be left in the endboard is not the end of the world, cause this 1k level 3, can actually be a 3501-4501 attack beatstick.
But, the cornerstone of the deck, the field spell, have one of the worse restrictions I've ever seen, you can only activate 1 per turn, for a card that needs to be in the field in order for the deck to work, the fact that if it gets destroyed you can't play another is an absolute tragedy.
Volcanic Doomfire, probably the best Pyro boss to date. High attack stat, nuke effect, battle control, BURN.
I think the biggest impact Towers has had is how cards were designed after it. It set a new standard without which cards like Master Piece wouldn't exist.
Nemesis Protos (and brother) are indeed part of the "nemesis" archtype which do indeed mention each other.m, so yes he is THERE boss monster.
Rad, I made it in
I shill Jioh to my friends a lot, and it's the closest I've gotten to convincing some non-YGO players to give it a try, just because of his facedown effect, god it rocks
not a single chaos max, chaos emperor dragon (for pacman decks) or herald of perfection/ultimateness (drytron) mention, damn
Dogmatika Nexus isnt a good boss, but would Maximus and Fleur count?
Dramaturge is like a mini boss
6:28 "It's just unfortunate the archetype isnt enough."
Whewwwww lad this is poorly aged.
Stupidly easy to summon (funny side note, I was having huge success with it in Tear)
3500atk let's it attack over basically anything, has a form of removal and can wipe ur opponent's board.
Tytannial, you're thinking of Tytannial
