Huge Os fan, I don’t see them moving off Holliday. Holliday and Mayo is not going to happen.
Holliday would never be traded - zero chance. The kid is going to be a generational talent for 15 years. Holliday and Mayo are untouchable for an often injured young pitcher on his way to Tommy John - not if but when like every young pitcher that throws hard. Orioles are the best team in the American League. If you propose this trade you don’t know these players. Orioles are not just built to win this year, they are built to win the next several years. Elias will not touch their top 3 prospects. We only need a #3 pitcher and another bull pen arm.
I agree 100% and the same should be the other way around. I would not trade Skubal even for Holliday if I were the Tigers. Nobody would win that trade.

If Skubal starts for Baltimore. They win the World Series. . It’s been since 1983. Trade whoever to win that.

Tiger fans were dead set against any trade that didn’t start with Holliday and include Mayo or Povich. I’m sure everyone in Motown is glad now that this never happened!

Secondly there is no chance The Os are trading away the #1 overall prospect and the #15 overall in Holliday and Mayo. There is no precedent for that kind of compensation
The Most Tigers could hope get and they’d probably take this deal if Baltimore offers Jackson Holliday, Kyle Stowers and Steve Johnson for Skubal

Made a mistake on that. Sorry. And even more reason for them to get Holliday and Mayo for 2.5 years of Skubal. He’s the most electric arm in baseball. I think it’ll be a similar return to what the White Sox got from Boston in the Chris Sale trade. Thanks for the comment.
HAHA. These trade proposals are crazy. Very unlikely are you getting one of Holiday or Mayo for him, much less BOTH of them.
It is a steep price, but how much do the O’s value becoming THE contender among contenders?
Sustained success is also the goal. The orioles fans have endured many years of bad teams. They must be responsible when approaching trades even if they believe it will put them over the top. Pitchers are very risky.

A pitchers win/loss record is one of the most insignificant stats in baseball.. Had he been on better teams his win/loss record would be better, see how that works? You better look at things like WHIP, ERA, opp avg, WAR.. It’s 2024 and you still stuck in 1992 😂

No way would the Orioles trade that many top prospects for a pitcher.
If I am the Tigers and I am told no Jackson Holliday, I hang up the phone, turn around and reach out to Skubal's agent to begin extension talks. This is not a charity business, you don't gift wrap the Orioles the best pitcher in baseball. I don't care how high the Orioles value their other prospects, they just don't cut it for Skubal. I for one, am happy that the Orioles won't include Holliday because even if they did, I don't want to trade a left-handed ace which is so hard to come by.

He’s had no major issues with his shoulder. He’s had one tj surgery and a surgery on his right hand

One point I think Tigers fans are missing - and I wouldn't know if it was the other way around, is that the Orioles are going to be better the next several years than they are this year. So they will not part with Holliday or Mayo and doubt Basallo is traded also. Their other parts are better than what most other teams can offer - Norby, Stowers, Povich.
O's should trade with Seattle for Gilbert, than trade with Miami for Weathers and Scott, than trade for Finnegan. and keep all top prospects! Skubal not worth asking price!

The Orioles are not built to be a one year wonder. Holiday is a key piece to the future of the club and a one year wonder of a pitcher is not.
I'd want to swap out Coby Mayo for Heston Kjerstad myself in that big trade. Send Jackson, Kjerstad, Povich, and Stowers to Detroit for Skubal. That way, the Orioles could get that pitcher they think they need, maybe win that World Series they want so very, very much, the Tigers could get some fantastic building blocks for the future, and, with my favorite Orioles now Tigers, I could just make the Tigers my American League favorite and never think about the O's again! Everyone wins!
Kjerstad is an other interesting name. My whole point is that it doesn’t matter who they ship out, they are set for the future. Why not go all in this year?
That wouldnt be enough you would need Mayo as part of the package. Detroit is not looking to sell Skubal if they do they would need Holiday, Mayo at the core plus one or 2 others depending but these are the 2 core that would have to be included
You guys are absolutely nuts. You would be lucky to get Mayo or Basallo with Stowers or Norby. Holliday can be an iconic player - best player in minors and #1 overall. His career will be way better than Skubal over the long haul. It’s fun to think of that but the Orioles don’t need Skubal. They need a #3 starter. Other teams best offer is like the #73 prospect, and you think you’re going to get the #1 overall and more? Orioles have 3 prospects in the top 15. Holliday and Mayo will be on the Orioles next month.

@@davidmitchell3020 No way Holliday is included - Holliday will be an iconic star player for 15 years. Skubal could be headed for TJ #2 and not last 5 years in the majors. Orioles don't need Skubal - they are in first place and top seed in AL. They just need a #3 and will keep their top 3 prospects. And no, you don't give away 3 top prospects, which are top 15 in all of baseball for a #2 pitcher. We already have a #1. Our 4, 5 and 6 prospects will beat most of the teams in baseball, value wise. Elias knows that.

I’m a Os fan! I don’t think it’s out of the question that Jackson could be traded for Skubial. But it’s adding Coby Mayo to this package that makes this a no deal for me. Switch Mayo out for Norby and you have a deal.
Interesting! Skubal is an Ace and puts the O's over the top in my opinion. It would definitely have to start with Holliday!

And I know from the outside looking in Os look like a very complete team but I can tell you we have holes on offense too and people say “we have a surplus of great prospects you need to trade some.” And I agree we do. But they have to be the right trades. I’m excited to see how this unfolds
Those two players, Jackson and Mayo are the starting point. A dominant Lefty is a high price.
The O’s are contenders without Skubal, yes he puts them “over the top” but at what cost? The O’s could get Scherzer or Evoldi from Texas and I would feel good about it giving up way less. The funny thing to me is no other team mentioned on Skubal has the high prospects or depth of position players as the orioles. It’s in the tigers best interest, if they are moving him, that he goes to Baltimore.
The Tigers will not get *all of those prospects for Skubal. Maybe Holliday, Povich and perhaps someone on the MLB squad.

I would trade Holliday just so I wouldn't have to deal with his daddy anymore..
The cheap-a$$ed, trust fund owner will NEVER pay him the $50 million a season that Skubal will eventually earn. Plus, Scott Boras is his agent. Dombrowski could deal with him.
