I have a '95 Suburban that I got about the same time you got your Tahoe. I wasn't brave enough to go straight to 35"s but did stuff some 33"s in there. Love following your build, it's giving me great ideas. Keep it up!
Man I'm digging your build on this. I've always loved 90s GM rigs, but recently decided on a Tahoe for a family friendly road worthy part time trail rig. My whole build will be centered around road worthiness and reliability like yours. Love it
i love my 99 its more modern feeling inside and comfortable than the early 90's its leather with front and back heatng and cooling cassette player slave cd player unit which is great to see cause you can get a box that you wire inbetween the slave unit and head unti and i got 3 diff hookups into that and cd player still works so i can put my phone or tablet or anything else through the sterio and keep it all factory. heated seats and everything its soo nice and i keep it clean as the second owner.
I love seeing more content focused on this platform. These vehicles are very capable even at stock height. I think the 2 inch lift is perfect. Looking forward to seeing how this build progresses.
I like ur build ❤ i got a 99 tahoe with auburn reardiff lock and 265 micky thompson mt and its a beast. And i was offroading befor i installed the difflock and was really impressived of the tahoe . I love chevys greets from switzerland😊
I have a 2000 obs z71 Tahoe. 125k miles. Tons of upgrades, but none impact structure. Everything works. Love these trucks. Just recently I added new shocks/sway bars and bushings.
Yea man. I just got a 2000 Z71 Victory Red 169K. Just hit 200 miles on her today. I'm the third proud owner. It's in great shape, every hallmark has been addressed. Inst cluster, brake lines, rear ac, even a new windshield. Mechanically sound, and so comfortable from the seats to the ride. 12K on goodyear wranglers. The Made in Texas by Texans sticker was pretty cool. Rare find with the star alcoa rims, blk brush guard, step rails, fog lights, flares, mono grill and bumpers, tail light covers. A steal at $5000. I'm a huge obs fan, have a 1994 Silverado Fleetside 6ft box 4.3L V6 4x4 in beautiful shape. Thought about selling for a profit. I can't let her go. Got it in 2014.
Your content is so well done, love this video! Just picked up a '99 Tahoe for myself! Will be looking at doing a very similar set up to what you have done!
This thing is built so well man, if you kept the factory front end on it, no one would of really figured how capable it is! I call first dibs if it ever go for sale!
sup hey amazing like i said last time love the tahoe 😉 hey do you have like a lift or just the torsion bar what about on the back blocks ? thanks 4 the video and your time to make this amazing videos 🤙🤙👊
35s, 7000lb truck with another 800 in camping gear, torrison bars cranked up....infamous chevy ifs front dif explosion in 3..2..1...I have 4 in my junk pile. going with solid axle swap
That tahoe is lookin good... love those milestar patagonia tires on there.. I got them on my 02 ranger and they do amazing... also there not loud on the highway either.. what did you think of them on the drive up to moab?...
That ten bolt is never gonna last spinning those 35`s. ( Don't ask me how I know). Look for a 9.5 14 bolt semi- floater from a 95-99 z71. Direct boltin
Man you got a link for all the suspension refresh stuff? I just got me a 95 with a 3 inch lift and i just want to refresh all that stuff just like yours
I put as many link as I could find in the descriptions and there's a bunch of links in the Amazon store under the OBS Tahoe list www.amazon.com/shop/autoedits
Just found your channel and watched every video on the tahoe in a row !!!! I picked up a 1996 1 owner yukon slt 4x4 with 124k miles for DIRT cheap 2 years ago and have done some visual mods , Now 2 years and 10k miles later im ready to make it offroad worthy !! LOVE what u did to the tahoe !!! I think im going to follow your exact build as far as the suspension and gearing goes ! Im sure its been asked before but do u have a list of all the parts and cost ? I do all my work myself but i will pay to do the gearing and axles . would you say that was the more expensive part ? regearing and locker ? Thanks in advance for all your help !!
Yes the gears and locker install was the most expensive part so far. I did go extra on the Kryptonite steering kit which is overkill for a regular build but solid peace of mind for me. I tried to put as many links in the video descriptions of each part of the build and also on my amazon store.
Hello there, My name is Koa and I’m looking for a Chevy suburban/tahoe. I love the story of your Tahoe and the build you have done so far. I was wondering what you thought about the same body style suburban or even the next generation tahoe/suburban. Thanks for your time have a good one!
I aired down to 18 psi and the AC works pretty good in this truck right now, I replaced a few of the 0-rings on the hoses and had it recharged by a local shop couple of years ago.
Hey man how are you liking that grizzy rear locker. Curious to see how its holding up and how its been performing so far?? Has it gotten louder or worse on daily driving??
It has been fine all these years and quieted down a little over time yet still very effective off road. In my case, I ended up using the truck much less for four wheeling trips and could've just installed a posi-trac instead and saved a few dollars. Otherwise, the Grizzly is still in excellent shape.
I have a 95 Chevy truck that I'm looking to get some shocks it's leveled but I want your opinion should I go with Bilstein fox or Belltech. I do some off-roading quite often so I want something that would perform better off-road. With your experience what do you think would be my best option for the way that truck rides.
@@AutoEdits Ya there's not a lot on what they're like in snow and ice. If I let myself drop the money on one when I regear then I will find out as I live up in Manitoba, Canada.
Could one run this locker in a 2014 Jeep jk in the front end? While in 2 wheel drive, would it engage or not? Any info I’d really appreciate!!! Love the content!! That’s!!
I ran a rear Detroit locker in my last F150 and I live in the plains, so lots of snow and ice. I will say consistent throttle input is your friend and engaging your front axle will help pull you forward through deep snow. Ice you will be in trouble open diff or auto locker.
Love this. Practical vehicle for everyday use, but kicks a$$ hitting the dirt for the weekend.
That’s exactly what I was going for and it does pretty great!
Love these kind of builds that aren't overly done
Me too! Thanks!

Jason is living his best life. I can't wait to see the camping trip! 🤘
I'm looking forward to it! Thanks so much for the great comment!

I agree... I thnk rocker protection and some skid plates will get me most places I want to go in this thing!
Always a great one from you Jason! Looking forward to the next one. Stay blessed and safe Sir.
Thanks, you too!

Very clean. We Midwesterners envy you. Of course, all our GMT 400s have already rusted away.
I totally appreciate this!

Awesome! Thank you!
Love this thing Jason!
Not gonna lie, it's the Ram that got me to the channel. But I'm looking forward to see some more Tahoe content
I'm glad you're here and going to stick around a bit!

HA! Ok... I got you down for first dibs...LOL
Always liked the look of the Chevy/GM square body.
Me too!
Cool update Jason. Can't wait for the budget lift video.
Thanks! There will be some good data.
I have a 2000 Z71 Tahoe, did the POWER STOP brake upgrade and I can't believe the difference from the original one's.
Glad to hear you like them!
This is such a great build i cant wait for what you are going to do next hopefully its a rear bumper!
What do you think?
@@AutoEdits i think a spare tire carrier would be a really nice add on to the truck
isnt it amazing how smooth and efficient that truck is still 23 years later?
Thanks for the Friday night treat!
Heck yeah!
I just got an 02 Yukon. I want to do something like this. Just need to save up the budget!
I I said this before ,but I love this series.
I'm glad to hear this!
Love this build!
Me too!
I had a Yukon same year and tire size she was a tank even in 2wd
It's a great platform.
SCV and AV have the best trail access in LA. Especially there in Rowher.
We are lucky up here!
I made quick release sway bar links for mine . Night and day man night and day.
Very interesting!
Nice build.
I want to do everything you have done but with a '96+ K2500 Suburban with the vortec 454. Like LTtolman.
Im definitely checking out the bell tech shocks... thanks for the info
I’ve been very very happy with them.
U upload I click . Simple !
Thanks so much... I clicked the heart as fast as I could...LOL
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it... these are fun to make!!!
I like it but I miss the Ram🥺 it sounded awesome !
I feel you... the Ram is an amazing vehicle.
That's a rad camping rig

Howdy, I like the next generation the best!
FRONT SWAY BAR DISCONNECTS!!!!
How?
How much did you air down? And what about AC, any videos? RPG.❓
I aired down to 18 psi and the AC works pretty good in this truck right now, I replaced a few of the 0-rings on the hoses and had it recharged by a local shop couple of years ago.
Awesome video👍🏻
Thanks!
Nice
Can we just get a full shopping list on what you’ve bought so far?
I'll do my best on the next video.
This thing is sweet. You should sell it to me.
Not yet... LOL

Thanks I appreciate this response thank you for the update looking to get one soon possibly by next week
So how's the mileage since you stuffed the 35's init?
Not bad but not good either 😂 I did change the gearing to 4.56 which helps keep it about stock gas mileage.
I have a 95 Chevy truck that I'm looking to get some shocks it's leveled but I want your opinion should I go with Bilstein fox or Belltech. I do some off-roading quite often so I want something that would perform better off-road. With your experience what do you think would be my best option for the way that truck rides.
Belltech is my favorite by a lot.
Know any good riding places in Tennessee I’ve got a 99 Tahoe lt 2 door I’m wanting to loaf around in
Hey we’re did you get the lower control arms mine are rusted need new ones
I reused the stock arms on this truck.
@@AutoEdits hey do you know if the power stop front end you put on the Tahoe they have the conversion for the back ?
So where in California is this and were you in 4HI the whole way?
This is Rowher Flats near Santa Clarita and I used 4lo when needed.
great video... did you do this with full tire pressure??
I dropped the pressure to 18 and it felt pretty good.
Sweet just was curious I have same tires and I love them, it was actually you and Matt’s Offroad recovery that got me into these tires 👍🏽
Do you have a recommendation on a rear and front bumper for an 02 yukon xl
Love my Buckstop front bumper… still figuring out what I want for the rear.
@@AutoEdits thank u. Hard to find a rear with spending big money
In other news. There has been a spike in first gen chevy tahoe sales😊
They are pretty dang good rigs!
I’d instantly a tru-cool transmission cooler
It has an external trans cooler already.
Love the build! How are you liking the grizzly locker so far btw?
I love it... easy traction that is doesn't really bother me around town. The true test will be in ice conditions... so we'll see.

i think i missed something lol how did he loft the front? did he just crank the torsions up?
ua-cam.com/video/Jq-FvLoSr9Q/v-deo.html
What water is that in the background?
That’s Bouquet reservoir.
Where is this? Looks like Arizona
Rowher flats
So if you feel comfortable sharing I would love to know the price for this build not including the tahoe. And maybe how cheap the build could be.
I don't have a list but you could do a quick add up from clicking the links in the videos and add $800 from what I bought the Tahoe for.
What psi do you run your tires on and off road?
On this trip, 30psi on road and 15psi off.
what muffflers are you running?
It's got a Flowmaster super44
what’s the bumper on this?
ua-cam.com/video/Cr27tRCPzBo/v-deo.html
what's your RPM going 80mph?
about 2500
Are you considering selling the Tahoe?
Not at the moment.
Did you give up on Ram Johnson?
Unfortunately I had to sell it.
@@AutoEdits nooooooo! Lol
You need to clear coat the roof and keep the PATINA.
Cool idea!
Rpms at 80?
about 2500. Same as it was on stock tires.
Man I'm early
Still processing the HD version... hang in there....
