There are more a comin! We're tossing around the idea of doing a mini episode on the history of sea shanties. Also we will be releasing the full video of the sing on our patreon
Its a shame. I knew Duke was battling the sinister wretch that is cancer. I just went to his website and it no longer exists. I can only assume the worst; that he has crossed the bar. Rest in peace, fond fellow. I wish I could have done business with you. CHEERS!
Let’s not assume the worse! Websites go down all the time. Just as likely Duke forgot to renew the URL. By his own admission, he was not a very tech savvy guy. but if you hear anything conclusive then please let me know! Also, for what it’s worth, Jimmy was being groomed to take over the business once Duke fully retired. So NENT should stay in business.
Hey guys, if I can't find a beautiful piece of wood like the one you got for keel, is there any other wood that I can use locally? I'm in Toronto Canada, Cheers mate😊
Well white oak is definitely a preferred species. If you can’t find a piece large enough for a one-piece keel, you can always laminate multiple pieces together or laminate up marine-grade plywood
Absolutely! Especially since Walter Simmons who drew up the lines for the Newfoundland Trap Skiff calls for sawn and not bent frames. Live oak is plentiful in the south too
I live in Connecticut and I was pleasantly surprised to see the bridge that I have gone under in my boat many times down in Mystic in this video!
I don't understand how your videos don't have more likes 🤔
I have been searching for this type of channel, finally am here and enjoying the episodes already.
One of the best episodes yet! Love it, y’all. Thanks!
Thanks man!

Hi, found you thanks to Mark from Nomad Boatbuilding's referral, loved the episode, onto the next & subscribed :)
Awesome! Mark's channel and his woodworking/boatbuilding has been a great inspiration to us! We appreciate the follow!
Great episode, guys! Hope to hear more shanties in the future!

Is that some sweet Romanian music at 3:40? I dig!
Yes it is! the song is "Briu" by Ion Laceanu.
Have you considered live oak for ribs?
Absolutely! Especially since Walter Simmons who drew up the lines for the Newfoundland Trap Skiff calls for sawn and not bent frames. Live oak is plentiful in the south too
