  • @veronicareilly7112
    @veronicareilly7112 5 років тому +126

    Personally, I think it was a great pic and even though it could've added all the "other stuff" of Freddie Mercury, that isn't what it's about. Freddie was a private person. What Paul did to him was horrible. No one has the right to do that to another person. Especially for money. We don't need to know all the gory details that this man went through. We need to celebrate the wonderful, beautiful musician he was. Also, Brian & Roger approved the telling and that they didn't let Freddie, their brother, get dragged through the mud is a testament to their love for Freddie. I say BRAVO to the cast, writers, etc. who brought this hard to tell story to life to celebrate the music.

    People think an R rating would have made it better? Lots of people think that kind of rating means lots of sex but I find it means constant profanity which is the biggest turn off for me. Lots of people think Queen was pretty bad as people so if it would have had the sex and profanity it would have lost many movie goers once word got around that it was that kind of movie. I had a certain kind of idea in my mind about Queen and had no desire to see the movie. However my husband had seen enough previews and told me how it looked to be interesting so we saw it. I'm SOOO glad I did. I came away being quite impressed with all the band and the actors' performances. I also found a lot of respect for Brian May and Roger Taylor for producing this movie.

    Roger and Brian are executive producers of the movie. They wanted to focus on both Freddie's life and Queen's life. The reason for it being PG-13 is because the movie is for everyone. Yeah most of story would be shown if it was Rated R, but just appreciate the fact that Roger, Brian, the producer, staffs, Rami, Ben, Gwilym, Joe, Allen, and Lucy has worked hard on making this movie.

    Roger had known Freddie for quite a while. They shared a stall in a marketplace. Also, Tim staffell, smile's vocalist, attended the same art college as Freddie.
    The band received FREE studio time (they didn't sell a van) in exchange for testing the studio's latest equipment. They had to do this only when the studio wasn't in use, which was typically late nights or even overnight.
    So much was omitted that made their story more interesting, and it wouldn't have taken any longer to tell the TRUE story.
    Formulas.... they defy everything Freddie and Queen stood for musically, yet when it comes to filmmaking, they are, sadly, practitioners.

    Others might not have wanted this, but it's integral to Freddie and their story about their ongoing love and loyalty.
    I think his end was not only tragic but triumphant. His way. He died but he lived on and shaped history. AIDS research, the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The tribute concert.
    The heroic way he fought the illness with courage and strength and grace
    I am not wanting to be ghoulish, but it's that those last years are awe inspiring
    The band being beside him completely. Even putting their lives on hold for him to accomplish his goal of musician until he died.
    That's the stuff legends are made of.
