Yoongi told Jimin that it was difficult writing this song because it made him relive those traumatic moments all over again. So yes, it was probably a cathartic experience but also a difficult and painful process too. He was indeed very brave to put these feelings out there and he no doubt has helped many ARMY who have similar traumas locked in their Amygdalas. I know it’s helped me. Thank you for your insightful reaction.💜

Younger Suga on the bike at the end has an epiphany moment BEFORE the next residual "loop" memory replays again for the millionth time (as all that Augst D has been able to do up to this point is just re-live the tragedies over and over and over again in a downward spiral).
Suga races to the door in a effort to stop the chaos and let Augst D out of his brain/Amygdala...and realizes that he can't change the past nor save himself from what he will have to go though as the door is locked.
The 2 identities that make up Suga/Augst D will always be a part of him as we can't change our pasts no matter how much we wish we could.
BUT, in that final scene, young Suga finally BROKE the haunting loop cycle memory by finally breaking out of that destructive pattern (him racing to open the locked door) instead of continuing on his bike in his memory and ultimately crashing as he has in his mind every time since the accident, over and over and over again.
IN THIS ACTION of trying to take a stand against the mental torment and try and actually save himself breaks the downward spiral pattern because something different, for the first time, resulted in him actually WANTING to save his own life now.
While the two entities will always be separate, breaking the mental loop of re-living tragedy every day brings the 2 entities into one and ignites the healing transformation that brings him to today as a prolific songwriter, story teller, survivor and massive mental health advocate and ally.
This is literally one of the best songs ever made. Suga/Augst D is a fkn genius.

For me this song is about PTSD, he survived getting hit by a car, his mother and father having very serious health issues, and I think that those things are intense trauma alone on top of the traumas that society inflicts on people daily financially, emotionally, physically. All of that culminating into things outside of his control and having to sit with it and go on despite anxiety and depression telling him to not persevere. It's incredibly heavy.
I think that the connection between the trilogy of videos is explained perfectly in the fact that Yoongi has said that he made Agust D as an outlet for his anger, pain, etc, i.e. him scarring himself and then as he continues to push through life he begins killing his old self as a transformation over and over until he is perhaps a little bit closer to a more healed self.
I've watched this video twice and then multiple times through reaction videos.its incredible. Yoongi is absolutely a musical genius.

Suga once said that he hated it when people knew things about his private life. This song really shows that. I can't even imagine the pain he must have felt growing up knowing that his mother's health issues started the year he was born. I get why Augst D is a trilogy and why he was so angry in the past when relatives said he would ruin his family doing music. He has such a burden already but music was all he loved to do so he was under so much torment. He was made to feel like he would not be able to take care of his parents as time went along. " in my ears I could hear the sound of my mother's life ticking away" Damn a tear slipped down. Part of his loneliness was that he could tell anyone about his mother and father's health issues in a prison he built for himself. I am so glad he has music and songwriting to take it all in and let it all go. Snooze is my favourite song that made me cry first but this song....
I finally get who agust D is, he is someone that allows Suga and Yoongi to be is truest and rawest self. Agust D has fulfilled the mission, it is done.

And it says pharmacy on the container.
Those are probably antidepressants or something similar? We know he also went to counseling when he was younger...

His mother's surgery had to have a tremendous impact on the family's financial status... it makes sense now on his comments about being 'poor' while growing up.... and the fact that his mother had surgery during his first year of life means there had to be incredible stress in his family environment which babies are very sensitive to, his mother's surgery would have also limited a lot of physical contact with his mom, limiting his sense of security and emothional nurturing (?)

I just thought of this but the line from People pt. 2 where is says, “wasn’t loved enough as a kid”. I was thinking maybe he didn’t feel that love because his family was probably really focus on his mother and financial situations that it could have been hard to raise him. Not that they didn’t love him because I am sure they did just not as much as he needed…maybe…just a thought….(just speculation not saying this is true)

A trivia: AMYGDALA is an almond-shaped little part of your brain where it's main purpose is to trigger your traumatic experiences. As Yoongi explained, example, you are afraid of water, and every time you see a water it reminds you of the day you nearly died because of drowning (reason why you have a phobia in water)
In AMYGDALA, the whole summary explanation is that Yoongi wanted to remove these traumatic memories inside him. He wanted to get out of that dark room, and remove himself from all the pain. As the chorus says "AMYGDALA, please save me." he is begging the amygdala to save him because these memories pains him to much.
A short memory about Yoongi, ARMYS are aware of his shoulder injury caused by the accident he had before debut. On the MV, he is riding a delivery motorcycle, and that was his job before debut because he lack money to support himself and he landed in different jobs, including being a delivery man. And that's where he met into an accident that caused his shoulder injury. But, because of the fear that they will not let him debut if the company will know about the injury, he hid it from them and continued to have medications only rather that having a surgery. In 2020, he did it already because it came from a point that he can't even lift a water bottle anymore.
The self-inflicting that he did with the cutter, some ARMYS believed the scar that Agust D had was self-inflicted. A metaphor of him doing "that" before as an escape. He also did the other way of s**c*de (pills). He mentioned that already once in his song "The Last" that when his doctor asked him, he admitted that he did that.
The thing about his parents, it's the first time we heard about that and it was really shocking for us.
An ARMY on twitter explained some of the points that can be seen through the MV. First is about the scar. Out of all the MVs that he had scars, some of us thought that it was just a scar, on the interview he did for Daecwhita, he admitted that it was just an idea and there's no meaning behind it. But now that he used the same scar in this MV, doing it by himself, maybe the scar all this time is self-inflicted. He switched his facial expression as Agust D when he had the scar which means that this persona is angry because it was in pain. As quoted, "Agust D was never a villain, he is just broken." It's also a way to understand why he usually k**ls the personas in the Daecwhita and Haegeum, because it's a metaphor of removing his past self (who's in pain and lives in anger) in the present him.
You can clearly tell as well why he said that it we have to wait for the time that him as Agust D will be back because he wanted to live as Min Yoongi and as SUGA of BTS now. He is no longer in pain, and in the midst of anger, Agust D is fading inside him. Because he is already at peace.
AMYGDALA is not Agust D, its Min Yoongi himself. For him to be this brave to tell a whole story line of his past traumatic experiences was something to be proud and admire of. It takes a lot of courage to do that. We can now clearly understand why this is his favorite among the things that he produced and wrote. He mentioned how hard it is for him to write this as he always gets emotional every time because it is very personal for him. It's his own story.
At the end of the MV, he never got out. It means that he already accepted that he will forever live with these memories.

    TW - Self-harm
I can't forget that verse in 'The Last' where he opened up about going to a psychiatrist, and the long censoring monotone beep to the question that was asked "Have you ever ---------". At that point most people were speculating it was the doctor asking about self-harming, and in the song he replied 'unhesistantly, I said I did it'. That was his first mixtape. I don't know, this song and mv just reminded me so much of that. The pen knife in his hands and the self inflicted injury . The knife appeared right when he was stuck in pain, reliving his night mares too. As someone who've been through and done that... gosh, it just hit me so much more than I thought it would. There was also a split second of a knife falling onto the ground in the mv. There is nothing 'scripted' in this video, he was reliving and portraying all his personal traumatic experiences, so imagine why he chose to include that scene. I find it very symbolic. Also, him finding his mom on the ground, his accident, the pills (whether it was antidepressants or pain killers for his shoulder), him agonizing in a basketball court as the sun sets (He talked about this part of his past before in 2015), the surgery lights that he saw while lying down, having to learn his dad's situation through the phone. I cannot imagine what he went through

When I saw the music video honestly i forgot that I was watching Agust D cause it felt like i was watching myself. The ending part where he wasn't able to save himself, that's bcoz people like us cannot save ourselves alone. that's the sad reality. But we heal with people who understand us and accept us. Yoongi have such a strong support system, im happy he's okay now and living his life.

I think it's not just that we need a support system to heal, it's that we tend to get trapped tormenting ourselves with "what if's" -- what if I hadn't turned down that street? what if it wasn't raining: -- but that pre-trauma self who lives in our heads can't avoid what's going to (what did) happen and rescue us. We can never be saved from having experienced it in the first place.

What this song and video brought into sharp focus for me, that I hadn’t fully appreciated before (despite being 3yr old ARMY), is quite how monumental the burden, guilt and anxiety he must have felt in choosing to pursue music. I knew his family was poor and therefore this choice was a risk that could backfire badly on them, but when you add to that the serious medical issues of, not just one, but both parents and the financial strain this in itself would have put on them, it is amazing he was able to withstand that pressure especially when he was so young. No wonder he was so hungry, so determined to succeed, worked so hard, could not sleep, had anxiety etc. I feel anxious just thinking about it.

He has talked down about "pill poppers" in other songs and now after this I feel like it's him saying very clearly "addiction sucks". Now that I think about it, the fact that he worked on the Juice Wrld album feels more significant too.

I still remember vivdly those sleepless nights at the hospital w my grandma to one day waking up losing her to cancer ..
Catching a full grown man my granddad having a major stroke
Taking the Difficult decision to work abroad leaving my sick granddad and family.
And having to come home to Resuscitate him and ultimately decide to stop and to let him go…

One thing about this that most people don’t mention is how hard the decision to go ahead and post this video had to be in light of what was happening in the kpop industry with Moonbin’s (of the group Astro) funeral only 2? Days before this dropped? They had to have had a hard time deciding whether or not to release it at the time they did. Would some people take it the wrong way, releasing something so sensitive during this time of mourning? Or how important it was To drop it right now BECAUSE of the situation that happened. How dropping it might help people understand that lots of people go through things like this and it’s important to have conversations about it. I’m so glad they did.

The beginning of the "scar" that he carries into next two songs from the trilogy, Daechwita and Haegeum. He's a really talented actor and the staff that worked with him on this did an excellent job making you feel the desperation. The younger Yoongi running back to save the older Yoongi, but they couldn't open the door. Him always trying to get out of that dark room. The uphill battle depicted with the crawling on the floor that was tilting. I mean, so well done. He's really good at making us all feel. He's grown a lot and he's so well adjusted now. BTS saved him. Like they save so many people.

Don't we all have traumas, or things that really hurt us? Isn't this just about that, talk about it, look at it...? See yourself and see others...

Ive watched this video so many times. Im in the double digits now. And every time it makes me cry. I am not a crier and some have even called me cold but this song and MV cause such an emotional response. Its such a beautiful song. Im so proud of Yoongi.💜

This was my first time watching your channel. I would like to say how much I appreciate your arrangement of having a large video screen placed up high so we can see the images and read the subs. When channels place a small screen in the right or left bottom we can see their rooms but not so much the video and read the subs, which are either below the visible part or hidden behind the progress bar and icons (play, volume, CC, settings, etc.,) when we pause to read.
BTS has such a huge discography, along with all the related videos that are reacted to, that sometimes I will watch a reaction before watching the original, so it is good to be able to actually _see_ it.

If you guys didn’t go to the concert could you possibly react to a fancam live performance of amygdala? (Specifically one from the live yesterday from Day 1) It’s honestly so powerful and heart aching because you can see plain and simple how deep this song hits for him. And how much it and the lyrics affect him (which makes sense of course as this is his trauma laid out on a silver platter for the first time in detail😕)

This MV was just so raw and powerful, the lyrics are so full of raw emotion which I can partly relate to.
And I just love Yoongis acting also there were bits that made me cry and get emotional.
I can relate to it on such a personal level too as I no exactly what he is saying in this MV and song as I've been thru all that.
He also said F**k to trigger warnings aswell (which this mv triggered me so much but yet Yoongis voice comforted me in a way only I can understand)
Also I could relate so much to the lyrics and message in the song as I suffer from bad depression and I know exactly how he feels as yoongi is the one I can relate to the most

This song is so heavy. Watching him lying helplessly in the rain, and being let in to all the pain he went through is heartbreaking. Watching someone you love suffering like this is just 💔 I'm just happy how strong he is and hope that he's way better now.

Wonderful reaction and breakdown, suga is a beast when it comes to writing and producing music. He is his music; I think the fact he brought his life to us in a song is amazing. It has helped so many of us army! I love the song and understand the struggle he has been thorough. In the last concert on his tour, he walked through the door, very traumatic and satisfying all in one! Yoongi is a great artist and writer and producer as well as singer and dancer.

Yes, I was wondering about that too. Also, the box cutter threw me. Was that self harm? I know he suffered with mental health. ODC also. Either way, he suffered. My heart is so happy he is doing so well now. He made a comment that about every three years he fights with things. Lots of love for SUGA!

He was taking painkillers, and the pain killers are more often drugs, plus Yoongi was depressed at that time, so this can be interpreted as painkiller use, plus depression and drug use (Yoongi already said in his song "The last" that he had suicidal thoughts, don't forget)
Im glad too that he is happy and fine rn. 😊

The most poignant part of this mv is - as he is crawling toward that door, the room tilts showing that the harder you try to get yourself out of that state of mind, the harder it gets to come out of. Also too came back today to tell you that during his live tour of this album the last performance night, at the end of the show....on stage, he finally walked through that door.
