He couldn't open the door because you can't open the door. Once you have experienced trauma, it stays with you forever. You can't "save" yourself from it, you can manage it, and you can give it less power over you but in the end, it is a part of us, you can't cut it out. I think that moment when he slides down the door is that moment of acceptance.
I agree with you. Even if an extreme trauma is from about 5 or 10 or 20 years ago, you'll never get over it, you'll just learn to live with it. Unfortunately, it stays with you for as long as you live.
I agree with you, something similar crossed my mind before reading your comment, for the most part. I also thought that the room is the amygdala, so him inside and lying down at the end could also be a representation of the trauma being left with less power. Because like you said, once you've had trauma it stays with you.
Suga spoke about his accident a couple of times and even mentioned it in his lyrics (first mention in 2016 I think) but to have a visual representation of it is just another level of a heartbreak.
I think the "your" in the lyrics "I don't know your name" refers to the audience. He recreated the memories he wanted to hide and didn't want to remember through the MV. Imagine acting out his trauma for everyone to see... What this means is that he's gotten over the trauma now. So he seems to be saying that since he did it, you (the audience) can too.
I think 'you' is SUGA/AGUST D....the one who was previously experienced traumatic things in life (his accident & his parents being ill), the person who got scarred by all the hates of the world....the person whose anger was the driving force behind his AGUST D & D-2 album, but who is now (D-Day album) no longer there cause he (as he told us on IU Palette) has changed now cause he no longer has that anger anymore in him, he already forgave the haters & live in present (peace). Thus, he no longer remember his name anymore (already forgot the angry version of him) who then now asking "how is he doing lately?" (Based on his amygdala/traumatic past)
@@heroturbo76”Imagine acting out his trauma for all to see” - Simply reading these words made my heart rate spike & my panicked brain go “no no no no no”. I honestly don’t think I ever could. It takes an entirely different level of bravery on top of writing lyrics.
I’m a Psychology Professor in UK. It’s understandable if your heart feels heavy but, shows he’s now at peace & able to share it, as it was. I’am proud as a Psych. I hope all we talk to, no matter how long it may take, they come out the other end & don’t give up. Anyone struggling use this to help heal, he’s not just done this for himself, to let Army in but, to also send the message don’t suffer in silence. I cried when I watched this & so proud of this gent. Stay blessed all🙏💜🧿
Thank god it's all in retrospective and Yoongi managed to stay with us and eventually heal through making this album. He has just finished a weverse live which he ended with "i cant change the past. and you need to forgive yourself. and for the past thats bothered me, i needed to forgive myself. that's why the title of the album is d-day"...because the time has come. Yoongi is so so so strong oh my god. He also said in different interviews that Agust D may return at some point, but this chapter of the story is over.
The mad king is his anger, the scar he got from the pain he couldn't deal with, the police-boss is the corrupt, the greedy self of Yoongi, his scar too. He battles both
My take on the almonds. 1. Amygdala in latin means almond, in greek it was ἀμυγδάλη (amugdálē), as these two clusters of nuclei in the brain have the shape and size of almonds they were named amygdala. 2. in the book Almond the boy's mother gives him almonds to eat because she thought it would help him develop his amygdala, finally letting him feel things. 3. The Last - Agust D, here Yoongi mentions that he went to a psychiatrist back when he was around 18, he assisted with his parents, the doctor in that track asks "have you ever been (censored)?" (we infer that he refers to being su!cidal, or if he has thought of hurting himself or others, bcs if you have any experience with mental health professionals this is one of the first things they ask you), he says "I answer without any hesitation that I have". Once you say these words to a psychiatrist, they usually prescribe you medication. So the pills that you see in the MV are a reference to that. Now, why use the pills and almonds interchangably? Because while the almonds in "Almond" were used to try and make the boy feel something, pills are usually used to regulate your emotions and make you feel less, but also, as amygdala means almond, we can also take it to mean that Yoongi is consuming "amygdala" after "amygdala" trying to try and fix his own which is hyperactive. The song destroyed me, but the MV completely shattered me. I've had a rough life, Yoongi is the one who I relate to the most because of it, he, in some way or another, always manages to heal a part of me with every album, song he makes.
i saw your comment and I thank you for the explanation because in my country amigdala (how we write it) is something completely different. Yoongi was always the one I looked and listened to the most. I also had an accident and injured my shoulder badly to the point of having an addiction to pain killers to hide it from everyone (I was 15). That combined to the hard childhood, discrimination and genetic mental illnesses that I have made me take measures and decisions that I am not proud of today. Because of his music I decided to seek help and better myself but those feelings of depression are always there and when I fall again he releases a new music that picks me up from the floor. Thank you for saving me Yoongi
I cried a lot when I first watched the MV. Something that striked me is that I think in the making of of the MV he said how he wanted the scar to look fresh. So if you consider Amygdala the genesis, then you go to Daechwita where there is a scar but a little healed, and then to Haegeum that the cop's scar is almost 100% healed and the "robber" yoongi, his free version doesn't have any trace of the scar. So I feel that in that moment is when he finally felt like he could deal with everything. Everything is still inside his mind, but now he knows is all in the past, and that he did the best choice he could.
So some context about the motorcycle accident, I hope I have my facts correct here but please correct me if I'm wrong ARMY! When BTS were still trainees Yoongi had a job as a delivery boy to help support himself. On one shift he was knocked off of his bike by a car, being quite badly injured and dislocating his shoulder. At the time trainees at Big Hit were not allowed to have jobs, so Yoongi thought if he told Big Hit about the accident he'd get kicked out. Because of this he didn't tell anyone about it, and lived with that dislocated shoulder for years (whilst still doing idol training!) without getting help. It was only years later when he was more settled that he told the company and they helped him get treatment, however because of their busy schedules they were forced to just manage the injury as best they could with injections and medication. Unfortunately it all came to a head when the medication stopped helping, and some days he was in too much pain to move. This is why he took a few months off a few years ago, so he could finally get the surgery to fix the injury, after almost a decade of constant pain. The hardest thing for ARMYs was finding out about the surgery after it was over, and realising that there were multiple performances in recent months where he couldn't even move his arm on stage. He seems to have really blossomed since that surgery, and he seems so much healthier and happier, and it makes me happy to see. Music like this is the reason he's my ult bias, and he inspires and drives me to work hard every day.
During one of the B.T.S. Documentaries, they were in their cups and he casually mentioned the accident in detail. The other Members sobered up rather quickly as he detailed the accident.
Yoongi family is poor. Yoongi grandparent took and rised him. Heart surgery need lots of money. That why hes father work hard for medical costs and when he find out yoongi into the music he get worry. Cause make music in not easy life. He afrid the yoongi become like him . Becaus of hes parent work hard too make a better life... Yoongi feel lonely without love. Hes father never bring him play outside if im not mustike. Sorry my grammer is poor. As you can see... Yoongi in is teen is so lonely. Being told to study hard for better future over and over againd. And make you forget the think you love (music) is so hard and sad. I want to say more but my engs is so so poor. 😭😭😭😭
When you find out u father have liver cancer after the fight for the dream u choice, feeling guilty ,sad, angery and every negative emotion max all together. I dont know what to call that . What yoongi been trough in his life ?i can imagen the burden in his shoulder. I dont know what to say... I pray for you happiens and im glad you made it... 💜💜💜
yoongi gave me the courage to look at my traumas from the perspective of a survivor. I think that many of us are the lotus flower... thank you for your interpretation.
BTS is on a whole different level when it comes to making music. They compel people to think, analyse, deep dive, get into psychology and philosophy....and so on. And they pass on very important life lessons and comfort that we can carry with us lifelong. Their songs r not seasonal to be enjoyed once n forgotten when a new song comes in. And they do this with the most beautiful melodies and rap. So we learn and grow as humans while also enjoying music. I am older than Yoongi (and RM and other members) but they all teach me so much that i can relate to and use in my life.
Suga mentioned when he was still a Big Hit trainee, he also worked as a delivery boy and was hit by a car during a shift and he was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder in 2013. He hide this problem from the company at first because he was just a trainee back then and afraid to be kicked out as an idol to be. Shoulder pains continued as was already a BTS member until he was further diagnosed in 2019 with ‘posterior labral tear of his left shoulder’, which means that the cartilage around his left shoulder joint has been torn. Since then, he has continued to receive various treatment to prevent his injury from affecting his activities. Suga underwent surgery to repair his torn shoulder last 2020.
This song keeps haunting me. It feels like he ended with the beginning. I never knew how to describe accurately staying still, doing nothing and having your mind invaded by dozens of thoughts, memories and your heart racing as if you very running. Yoongi just did that with this music video. His voice in the chorus is like a cry or a yell, I don't know but it is incredibly powerful and painful. If feels like he released Haegeum first - although it is the conclusion and it reassures us that he is now in a stable mental place - so as not to makes us worried and shock us even more with the origin stories of Amygdala. Seeing him smile a lot more lately and enjoying life become even more meaningful. Not everyone is strong enough to overcome certain challenges and painful experiences. After all the pain he went through. I am so proud of him and thankful for sharing this with us. I could not help thinking that that maybe this song can help so many out there, including me. I wrote this before listening to your thoughts so as not to mix my thoughts with yours. Thank you and take care!
Hi Guys, I saw the MV last night and I literally burst out into tears.... Knowing that everything that happened here is true with Agust D, Yoongi. SUGA describes his past in this MV and it as well identifies how "WE" as individuals have been going through... Hence he was saying to RM that their music speaks to ARMY and that is WHY we are here, and that is WHY he writes music.... I could completely resonated into each & every lyrics he wrote and sang, I was so heart broken. The MV is as GOOD as what he is displaying it to us so wonderfully with his raw lyrics... Thank you for sharing your past with us SUGA... We love you and appreciate you.. Thank you for your reaction Daniel. I always love your analysis on their Videos 💜💜
DG, I appreciate your channel, your commentary, your compassion and insight! I cried within this song, with the mv, with almost every reactor…. But only those who are genuine, like yourself, do I make it all the way through them! StayGold DG! I have #YouNeverWalkAlone tattooed on my arm to help remind myself… It’s True! Thank you my OT7 Loves! 💜🙌🏻🪷
The lotus flowers blooms by pushing its way through the mud, rising toward the sun's light but at nightfall they will close up and sink back into the water or mud. I think yoongi is still in the process of making himself better or feel better thats why the mv didn't have a happy ending cause he is still in there but slowly trying to remove himself from that position
This song and the mv had me in a chokehold. Not only did Yoongi's acting get MUCH better (and he was already literally a pro), but the entire cinematography backs it up. The song is a banger, no doubt. Haegeum is a traditional instrument, but it also means release from prohibition. The mv is so fascinating. In Daechwita, he killed the blond Agust D because he was too corrupt with anger and resentment. Agust D couldn't take it anymore. But in Haegeum the Agust D scar ended up as corrupted as the blonde Agust D. It's interesting that the new Agust D basically started the mv by killing a person and ending with the memory of it. Agust D is a trilogy because Yoongi was finally able to unite with Suga and Agust D. They are no longer apart because he learned to embrace all of his feelings. In this MV, the new Agust D. is a vigilante and violent villain because that's what Agust D is. But instead of just killing the scarred Agust D, who in this narrative, is a corrupt secret agent, (as happened to the blonde Agust D), he ALSO burned the money scar that Agust D had. My interpretation is that this whole mv revolves around FREE SPEECH, which may not be correct. 🤣. Finally, cheers to SUGA for yet another unique work of art.👏❤
This is personal to the extreme. Suga is strong and extremely brave to firstly even speak of these but then even a whole mv of visually representing his battles is crazy. I didn't think I could respect him more but here we are.
This is why I love watching reactors. The true ones. They make you feel like you are talking with a friend. Your insights are all coming from a sincere and emphatic heart. True that we can't do anything with our past, but isn't it more bearable if a loving soul holds our hand as we walk through it? Your kindness shines. ❤
I've felt these things and this is a perfect depiction. I keep crying. I'm glad he won. Glad he's alive. He just said on a live that he almost made this the pre-release track... Which, wow, that would have been a choice. I love that he's a survivor, and that he's not trying to say that it's easy. He's singing from the middle of it but not without hope. I feel so seen. And I wish I could hug that man or make him soup or something
You've given a good breakdown of the relationship between all three songs: Daechitwa, Haegeum, and Amygdala...that is now in full circle, sitting in the back of the mind in summation. Suga has overcome and left the major lesson from these past experiences: Life Goes On. And we move on to the next chapter....
The worst part is that the car accident had been tormenting him for 10yrs. In 2019, Big Hit Entertainment revealed that he was diagnosed with a "posterior labral tear of his left shoulder," which means the cartilage around his shoulder joint was torn, an injury that was caused by the car accident during his trainee days. He had been performing and touring constantly, getting shots in every city because of the pain, until in 2020 his shoulder gave out, and he had to undergo surgery. That's why he's absent during the promotions for the BE album, and even when he got back, he mentioned having to go to the hospital weekly for his physical therapy sessions. Yoongi is so strong.
Yeah, he's an amazing artist to create such an honest filled song. And I can very much relate to Suga's life. I had my own "Amygdala" (Amygdala is one of two almond-shaped clusters of nuclei located deep and medially within the temporal lobes of the brain's cerebrum in complex vertebrates, including humans. Shown to perform a primary role in the processing of memory, decision making, and emotional responses (including fear, anxiety, and aggression), the amygdalae are considered part of the limbic system.) Like Suga, when he was born, I had my own issues. Its hard to let go of those memories but one step at a time if we work even more harder like in the video, Suga can breakdown that door. We will see him in the future how strong he will be. Its also the support Army and the rest of the members give. He definitely can get through it like how I am working harder myself. Its tough but we definitely can. And I like how genuine you were when reacting to this. I still cry everytime I listen to this song. And music is definitely a therapy. It reminds me of how BTS has helped me fight through a lot when I was constantly hospitalized. And DG, you are doing an amazing work with your reaction videos. I really like how you react to the music videos and also take time to explain everything in MV. This is amazing! My cheers to you for doing great stuff in the future. 😊
Thank you for your in depth analyses. Youre the only reactor who delve deeply into the message that Suga is trying to tell us. He opened his fears, sad experiences and emotions through this song. And yes it is not about breaking records but rather finally breaking out from his past and looking forward to the future. The trilogy has been completed and Yoongi is now relieved of these past experiences and he has overcome the depression and challenges
The best Amygdala reaction I watched, maybe the best reaction I ever watched in general. Thank you so much for it, I enjoyed every second. The research you did, amazing. Found your channel through this video and its an instant subscribe. You're amazing!
You're really genuine and authentic with your reactions. You give every video you react to the respect they deserve. I respect you for that and thank you so much. I hope and pray you're doing fine personally aswell. Thank you for the hard work.
the scar AgustD is the bad past and the one who went through pain, now I get it why Suga keeps on killing the scar AgustD so many times in the MV for him to forget/let go and to live peacefully the Yoongi of the present. but yeah, he is still part of his past so yeah, he needs to accept what happened and forgive himself. He also said that in IU palette that he is mentally stable, okay and at peace now.
This was such a heavy mv and song, Yoongi baring so much to us, his parents' illnesses and his accident, and the WAY he sings it, it's just heartbreaking. But I'm glad he's feeling well enough to share this, even if I know this wasn't easy by any means still. He's just such an admirable person and such a genius. Thank you for reacting to this song, for researching so much beforehand, and for being so respectful and appreciative
I have chills everywhere on my body every time I watch this mv. As someone who went through very dark and violent times, this speaks to me in such a hurtful but familiar way. I had a bit of hope when the agust d on the motorcycle ran to the agust d trapped in the bad memories and bad thought (aka the dark room), but that tiny hope crashed when he didn't manage to let him(self) out and he just surrended to all those bad things. This shows how hard it is to get rid of such dark thoughts, even if we want it. But the fact that he is with us to tell us his story is enough to say that he is still my hope, just as you said at 9:30, that was my train of thoughts in those dark times. The hope I first had for him to feel better, now I have it for myself, too. I wish for every army to feel the same hope.
🇰🇷Suicide & depression stats are the highest globally. Mental Health is still a very unfortunate taboo subject, that it shouldn’t. This MV raises awareness. My opinion as a psychology professor in UK, this shouldn’t have a trigger alert warning.
I actually keep crying for 2 days after watching the mv, especially when the motorbike accident keeps playing over and over again. It hurts so bad thinking that it's haunting him for years.. and I understand how the bad memories keeps playing in your head even if you don't want to.. it's all too familiar. But. He just went live last night. And he said that the past will always be there, but he now forgive himself. Also on the documentary on disney+ he explained that he wants to tell this story so we know that he is okay now and hope that this help us who is going through the same thing can forgive ourselves eventhough the past and the memories will always be there, we have to move forward. He is there, always there, to comfort us so don't be afraid.
This prequel part of the trilogy is amazing. I can't be more glad and happy to yoongi for expressing himself not only for himself but to maybe help others
I just have to say how much I love your reactions - they are like a breath of fresh air. Depth of thought and compassionate analysis is rare. I have to say that Suga is probably the artist I have paid the least attention to whilst getting to know BTS but after watching the trilogy my opinion has radically changed. It takes so much to challenge authority, challenge societal norms and to challenge own's own identity. We are witness to his exploration of self as an artist and person with this intimate glimpse into his self-expression. Suga, Agust D, Yoongi all the same but born out of different facets or versions of self. Pain does shape us, trauma changes us and now that he has fought for his freedom of self-expression and solo-artistry he has chosen to be vulnerable. He is definitely being generous with everyone here in letting us in - it takes courage and strength to show yourself even if it is multiple versions or identities of self. Beautiful artistry and support, we are all helping each other make our way through this life.
TODAY YOONGI IS ALREADY DIFFERENT, MORE SOFT, MORE SMILE, MORE CONTACT!!! TODAY'S MIN YOONG IS GOING TOGETHER IN HIS PERFORMANCES! AFTER THE OPERATION HE OPENED SO MUCH THAT EVEN KNOWING HIM FOR SO MANY YEARS YOU THINK IT'S THE SAME JUNGI, AGUST DEE SOMETIMES!! SO MUCH IS SO MANY YEARS THAT YOU HAVE BEEN SUFFERING AND HIDING YOUR SHOULDER PAIN AND PERFORMING FOR SO MANY YEARS!!! Yoongi is a standard of beauty, honor, wisdom, devotion, love, comfort,!! HE IS SO VARIOUS AND GENIUS THAT THERE IS NOTHING EVEN TO ADD!! THIS IS OUR GENIUS MIN JUNGI, OUR AGUST DEE, OUR SUGA!!! FAVORITE OF MILLION PEOPLE!!!
I just love how he takes us on this intimate ride to his personal journey, he was being open and vulnerable but also so clear in his story telling! And to know that he actually planned this whole trilogy and this song being written 3 years ago (if am not mistaken) proved that he is a genius! He is a story teller as well as producer, rapper, song writer! Is there anything he cant do?? He truly deserves everything this world can offer! A precious and super interesting person!! Love and appreciate your essay once again!!! 💜💜
Everything is said. So what remains is to say thank you Yoongi for telling and showing your feelings to us. And thank you Daniel for this reaction. Always the best one.
Thank you for this amazing and thoughtful reaction and analysis, Yoongi was so raw and brave with this album and its wonderful there are listeners and reactors out there like you to bring more light and understanding to it 💜 thank you
When I first saw the video, I didn't realize that I'm tearing up... And since my head and my heart hurts a lot, I paused at 1:30. This is the reason why we shouldn't belittle anyone's painful experiences; as you didn't know how deep their wounds and scars are... you cannot change them with a blink of an eye, nor snap of your fingers... Every people has their own battle with their shadows and demons, who slowly eating them alive untill they completely engulfed Into the darkness... But at least we can all change for the better... A better life for those who suffered the most. Anyway, thank you for reacting to this masterpiece. God bless always!
As usual your insight is incredible. This song was amazing and the MV had me crying from the beginning. Yoongi is sooooo amazingly talented and strong! We can all bloom like lotus flowers!!🪷🪷🪷💜
I admired Yoongi for his strength to overcome all his pain and struggles in life. I want to thank him for sharing his vulnerability to us through his songs. I wish him all the happines in life. Thanks for your insightful reaction. You never failed to impress me.
Yoongi mentioned on his latest "Suchwita" talk show interview with RM about how with this final part of the Agust D trilogy he wanted to finally find the meeting point and blend the Agust D's personality back into himself, because it does not serve him anymore in his journey of self discovery and healing 💜
4:16 noticed that Suga wearing Hoodie on the side eating "almond" a reference to the book "ALMOND" too, the character used to eat almond there thinking it'll help his small amygdala to grow. 🤧
he first talked about his mother's heart surgery in bts song - Moving on- song in 2015 "(For the first time in my life in my mom’s womb, I used to count the days until my first moving; Vague memory, the cost of my moving was a machine in my mom’s heart and a big scar)". i can't even imagine him talking about all of this out loud, it must be hard. All of the memories were stored in his amygdala and he said he kept re-remembering and re-living them to write this song. This album is the healing album for him. he will stop using agust d as a peesona now. he even said that all the anger, hate and rage he had back then is now healed as you can notice comparing this album to (Agustd, D-2) albums. I love his healing journey ♥️
It was either last year or the year before but a delivery driver spoke out about how Suga ordered food from the service that he worked for. It was raining heavily and there was no way for the driver to be contacted so Suga wrote on the delivery instructions "it's a rainy day, be careful - I don't care how long it takes you to get here"
Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Such a good song. Pls pause as much as u want. I love hearing your thoughts. This is my fav song from his album. My 2nd fav is Snooze. I love all the songs though. But these for some reason made me feel more. When i heard this for the 1st time i smiled. This MV speaks his truth. I am glad Suga talked about it more. I think the more u speak about it the easier it gets as the years pass. I am sorry he went through so much. I am sad he did not reach the door. I think this song is tricky. I think the MV enhanced the song a lot for me. Good visuals. Loved the feels. I am an empath so i take it in. Suga was sharing his trauma, his painful memories right. I was not aware his mom had heart surgery or that his dad battled cancer. I wonder if his bike accident occured in the same year as everything else. We know Suga survived it was a miracle. Yoongi dealt with so much pain for so long. We were all so glad he finally had the shoulder surgery. They are so strong all of them. They are our strength and we theirs. Hugs tight DG. I was finally able to cry for him at last. My therapist said I am not afraid of death. I faced my death already dealing with cancer. So his truth was not that shocking to me. But still I wanted to cry for him because he can't. Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟 I Purple Jimin 💜said on 4/25/23 People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala. Not being able to process emotion and trauma properly. People who suffer with PTSD in multiple forms would understand this mv straight off. Its the whole process of nightmares vs flashbacks. Flashbacks being more of a process for PTSD sufferers. I have Complex PTSD and hypervigilance so i understand this mv with all its little nuances. I respect Yoongi so much that his been able to be so open with these issues. Alix DriftwoodDragons said on 4/25/23 I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years. In Daechwita (D-2), he replaced "blond Agust D" from the first mixtape (he was blond for the MVs he released in 2016), who was a king who ruled out of anger... in Haegeum, a new Yoongi who DOESN'T have a scar, he's healed from his trauma - or at least has learned how to have it not continue to hurt him any more by self-inflicting wounds in response to it - and Haegeum Yoongi replaces D-2 Yoongi whose scar is old but still there, and is ruling in a civil manner but perhaps too caught up in the flexing aspect (the fancy suit, the slick image). I think Haegeum is the end on a note of Yoongi being free, and living the way he wants. Amygdala is needed to explain that key though - what Yoongi had to go through mentally to get to that point. The fact that he's sharing this with us, to me, means that he's reached a healthy place where he feels strong and recovered enough to share the story. Even if he can't put a firm happy ending on it, because you can't do that with mental struggles - in the latest episode of Suchwita, he even tells RM that he gets low every 2-3 years, but has learned how to handle it better as time has passed, and now RM thinks he's the most positive person on the team. Really, Yoongi is absolutely amazing. I love him so much and he deserves all the hugs in the world. @charethiebeldad8303 said on 5/4/23 His trying to save himself, but failed so he just accepted the other side of him wholeheartedly and later they both find healing,. MIN YOONGI /SUGA/AGUST D was indeed a genius! Thank you guys as always! 🤗💜💜💜💜 @Drifty-Alix said on 6/13/23 I really appreciate the interpretation of "green Suga/almond-eating Suga" because I honestly didn't know how to interpret that character and what Carlos said makes SO MUCH SENSE and also gives me closure for the MV, when I didn't feel like it had much closure before. I always felt like Yoongi storyboarded these MVs the way he did for a reason - that they can touch on both his personal journey, but also the problems with the industry/society that he sees. I also loved Carlos' comment about Yoongi putting himself in both the hero and villain role, as a commentary that he's also part of/a product of the society/industry that he's criticizing, but that just means he knows exactly what he's talking about. Anyway, great discussion!
then at the end of the tour at "The Final-encore" he finally opened the door and walked out smiling, after performing amygdala so many times during the tour, I want to believe he had a very needed catarsis from all those emotions.
This trilogy is so strong and it gives so much look inside yoongis past and that he shares it with us and everyone wasnt an easy decision for him for sure but a part of his healing to "scream it out into the world". I never thought i could feel and identify with bts and their members as individuals more than i did before but what they are all doing on their own right now shows their human site and it makes me sad and proud of them but also more sure about my own being and what im going through and that you have to face things to control them in some way - but that you can't control everything and its important to accept that too. Besides those very touching and meaningful lyrics and mvs coming out at the moment i have to say that im very thankful that you look into the meaning before, while and after the mvs to get a better understanding of what is going on. Not many do this and im really happy to see this here and that makes me come back to you always first when i look for reactions because you're just putting it in the right place and with the right thoughts. I really can't with people watching the mvs and just saying "i don't get what they're talking about but sounds ok." and me always kinda screaming:" Just look it up because those lyrics and mvs mean more than just making a new hit!" I just want people to appreciate and recognize that its more than music and that it's actually helps so many people in their own lifes and feel more seen thanks to those guys. I hope everyone gets what i mean - no bad blood against anyone of course! So, thank you so much again i really appreciate you and your work here on youtube
Please take care of yourself and know that your subscribers care for you and wish you well. I appreciate your openness and thoughtfulness, and have very much been enjoying your reactions to BTS and other groups. Suga just finished his tour and I was able to see the Tokyo performance in a theater and live stream all the shows in Seoul. Amygdala was the last song on the set list and in each show, his final position was flat on his back on stage. Four hooded figures then carried off his inert body. He came back to an encore of D-Day ("Everything is gonna be okay"), Nevermind, and The Last (about initiating therapy) before walking offstage without saying goodbye (because it is never the end between us). However, for the last show he walked to a white door, turned and said goodbye, and then walked through, shutting it behind him. his enlistment was announced the next morning. Everyone felt the relief for his finally being set free, and the pain of our separation. This was after he himself became so emotional that he was crying during the last three songs (Snooze, Dear My Friend, and Amygdala ) to the point that the audience was singing them for him. He went live after the concert to explain that the whole past ten years just became present to him, and it was too much. Finally, before singing the final encore he took off his jacket and finally showed where he got the "7" friendship tattoo he'd been coy about revealing (the other guys showed theirs off a year ago). It's on his injured shoulder, above the surgery scar, like some sort of protection. Cannot tell you how emotional and cathartic the whole show was, and how it intensified the love and respect we all have for him.
I also recently read an article where he wrote this song with the theme of suicide and self harm. Yes, you're right and that's why he created these personas. I can really relate to this song and Suga's personality so well as I went through a personality syndrome myself. He created this song to not only tell about what happened in his life but to make everyone aware of these mental health issues that could turn a person to a dark side. So this is why he created this persona so he can go through everything and overcome everything through music. I agree that music is definitely a therapy.
Glad to see someone had the same psychological reaction to this that i did ......this makes me be able to relate to suga more ...and understand his personality more.....i thank him for opening up and allowing us into his heart and soul . This is the most impactful video i have ever e perienced ...
Thank you. I think you did a great job interpreting this and appreciate your candid comments. I'm sorry You have had to go through so much also. Glad you found this to be inspirational and not just tragic.
suga took us on a very deep emotional personal journey, this video was an artistic masterpiece. i loved your commentary and reaction to this song. i personally had to go back and listen to the songs 'huh, 'dawn, and 'snooze. after reading the lyrics again i think, i received the total storm message ''of completeness'' from yoongi, suga, agust d, as one whole' person. this was an amazing video that was breathtaking and should be a psa for all to see. we all need help and suga gave us 'himself'. thanks again for your reaction.💜
I can totally relate to becoming a brash, hard and cold version of oneself as armour against emotional pain. It was also constructing a fortress around myself for awhile. That version of myself used coldness, cuss words and hardcore gangsta rap blasting through town as a defense mechanism. I refused to feel. It hurt too much. I've shed some of that shell thankfully.
Musically it has nothing to do, but somehow it made me remember the song Scars by Papa Roach. And like half Linkin Park songs. It's the sad and the beacon of hope at the same time. I love your talking about the reason behind the songs, analysis and all that. It's hard to find people willing to speak about music and life like you.
I agree with all your points. I had another comment somewhere and it disappeared so I'm just going to go into the thoughts I had on the ending. It was a little confusing because I thought he would make it out of the room but now I'm thinking maybe he wasn't able to get out that room or into it from other side because he doesn't need those thoughts anymore and he can finally end that chapter by closing that door and leaving his old self behind...just a thought I had
This is a really simple video compared to Daechwita and Haegeum MVs for sure, but it's so powerful, and a genuinely hard watch. I couldn't rewatch it right away. I think I need to be in a better headspace first. But I'm seeing if I can rewatch through reactions for now without becoming a wreck. So far...it's a no. 😅 But I really appreciate how raw it is, and how open Yoongi continues to be about his struggles. When I see stuff like this I feel a little reassured. I think being able to create this means the artist has done a lot of processing, and a lot of work to be comfortable enough to express this part of themselves. It's brutal, but therapeutic for the artist too. And him being so open is so helpful for the listeners too. I'm sure he knows to some extent, but seeing someone else be truly open about their struggles can be so comforting for others. Like at least I'm not alone in feeling this way, yada yada. So yes, trauma track, but a comfort too.
Amygdala how the scar came to be. Deachwita both characters have the scar, finally in Haegeum the thief doesn't have the scar but the cop has the scar but it has somewhat faded and the non scarred character became victorious=Yoongi said D DAY is the day that he has freed himself from his past trauma
The music video for Amygdala is intense and UA-cam has put a warning on it, so that you need to choose to watch the video, it won't show up on an algorithm or playlist. I agree with the decision, especially after seeing some of the reactions on twitter, such as the music video triggering PSTD, etc.
And left him for dead without helping him, I wonder how that person lives with their actions, no police investigation has ever been conducted, they have to live in their own prison every day
I think there's also a piece of it where over time, these kinds of memories warp and you blame yourself for them. Whatever the truth is, this is what it can feel like. But yeah I also hope that person can't sleep at night
Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts... What really pained me about this song and MV, is finally knowing how he held all of this in. Not just while in pre debut, but through out his career. This are not really things you can just talk about in the open, not especially as an Idol who, aside from working hard , are always being hated on for no reason. Holding onto those pain, alone in your mind😭 .. knowing now that he was the one who inflicted that scar in order to cope with all the turmoil he must have been feeling, thus creating AGUST D, the one filled with anger, pain and malice 🥹 he was suffering and yet only tried to give us his best .. How must he have felt, after all his schedule and concerts, going back alone in his hotel room😭.. I'm glad he has his members with him ready to support and help him out. But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹 thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best . 🥹🥹🥹 #agustd #dday #amygdala
Hugs for you!! Love your reaction it’s as heart felt as Suga’s song! It’s all healing and BTS is a blessing for us. Knowing we are not alone and that hope and faith feed our self preservation but also a path to loving ourselves 💜✊🏽💜 Borahae!! Salute to you and August D
I think the deepest part of this trilogy is the fact that the scarred persona dies at the end. We all have that version of ourselves, the one who is plagued by indescribable hurt. But in that hurt, if we do not heal from it, it causes us to make bad choices both towards ourselves and towards others. You have to have compassion for that part of you, they are the tortured one, but in the end the only way to rise above the things that have happened to you is to kill it. To say no, I have gone through these things, but I refuse to let them define who I am. I am not that person anymore, that hate and pain has no space in my life.
I watched the mv only once yesterday, I hadn't been able to rewatch it since. I was able to watch it till the end cause I feel safe here. I loved your commentary, thank you
Suuuch a powerful and impactful video! Anybody who either suffers from mental health issues or knows someone who does, can totally relate to this video. Really, anyone who's experienced tragedy at any point in their life should feel the poignant emotions brought forth by this video! Thank you for your messages in this rxn video.
It's a cycle. It's all him trying to remind himself and bring himself back down from all those temptations each time. The Agust D persona came about to carry the trauma that Yoongi went through. Because we can't change the past, all we can do is keep fighting to heal, little by little.
Excellent reaction!!! Thank you for the analysis and commentary as is true Suga has healed from a lot of that, is in a better place and he himself has said that made him whom he is now. The fact he did this trilogy and spoke on it and shared it with us is truly amazing. ❤❤❤
Just how I admire Yoongi for his raw openness with us-I admire how real and open you are with us DG. I always have a high appreciation with how insightful your reactions are. You always find a way to make me look at things from a different perspective and that is why I keep coming back. Thank you for being you💜
Dear friend... I was waiting for your lecture on the video... I admire the way you can deconstruct all the symbolism!! I have two opposite thoughts about the door... first, I thought it was the liberation, the light of a new life... but by the fact he couldn't open it, it made me think it could represent another kind of liberation, always represented as walking to a bright light 😢 and I'm happy he couldn't open it! He gave us that sequence: Daechwita, Haegeum, and Amygdala as the last one. It made me think that even he's showing us what started all that burden. In fact, he's showing us his process of cure. The treatment consists on facing the causes (going into your amygdala) to finally put the past in the past.
This song is incredibly powerful and I understand how it is overwhelming so many. I’m sorry you have had so many exceptionally difficult challenges and I hope this song helped you and helps others. It’s giving me a way to explain to myself how I feel. It’s raw emotions yet hopeful. He’s come out the other side. He’s better now he’s healing. We can too. 💜💜💜💜
Beautifully said
I agree with you, something similar crossed my mind before reading your comment, for the most part.
@@heroturbo76 respect your opinion! But I think yg is referring to himself, his other identities ( suga and agustd and yoongi)!
He also said in different interviews that Agust D may return at some point, but this chapter of the story is over.
aww
It gives me strength that now I can survive everything.
the same, BTS IS the only ones who understand me
@@_mrsjaane_ I completely understand the sentiment. Often times, BTS were the only ones I could turn to.
Do you think that body he finds on the ground in the mv is his? An attempted suicide attempt? Probably with the pills?
i saw your comment and I thank you for the explanation because in my country amigdala (how we write it) is something completely different.
He afrid the yoongi become like him

He suffered, while still doing the Choreography, until newer songs made it unbearable.

First you feel punch in the stomach and than tears down your face. Amazing song.
These BTS guys are incredibly inspiring in so many ways. So open to be vulnerable and true to themselves… I’m speechless.😔💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🥰
the scar AgustD is the bad past and the one who went through pain, now I get it why Suga keeps on killing the scar AgustD so many times in the MV for him to forget/let go and to live peacefully the Yoongi of the present. but yeah, he is still part of his past so yeah, he needs to accept what happened and forgive himself.
One of the most beautiful song of this year. And visuals in mv are stunning. ❤❤❤
Thank you for reaction ✌️
I want to cry 💔💔 The song is so deep about his past and what Yoongi went through..the accident and everything is real 😭😭😭😭🫂🫂
I agree. Suga is a GENIUS.
I absolutely love watching your reactions. This song hits home hard. Much love from Canada 💜💜
Thank you for your excellent reaction and for sharing your thoughts.
i love your empathy and open mind, your reactions are always one of my favourites for sure!
I really love your reaction on how you interpret and understand every mv and lyrics especially when it comes to agust D mv's ❤💜
YOONGI IS JUST AN ANGELIC BEING.... THANK YOU FOR STAYING STRONG YOONGI, UR DECISION HAS HELPED MILLIONS OF PEOPLE SURVIVE
Thank you for this lovely reaction. This is such a touching sentiment given to ARMY.
Borahae. -NY USA 2019 Army 💟

People with PTSD have the same issues with their amygdala.

I think the trilogy is about slowly recovering from trauma... the Amygdala MV explains the key to understanding the other two MVs, in that it shows that the scar is a mark of a character that is acting on their trauma - Yoongi has been slowly healing over the years.

His trying to save himself, but failed so he just accepted the other side of him wholeheartedly and later they both find healing,. MIN YOONGI /SUGA/AGUST D was indeed a genius! Thank you guys as always! 🤗💜💜💜💜

I really appreciate the interpretation of "green Suga/almond-eating Suga" because I honestly didn't know how to interpret that character and what Carlos said makes SO MUCH SENSE and also gives me closure for the MV, when I didn't feel like it had much closure before.
Loved the depth you went into... this is what a reaction should be... you actually took the time to really consider what Yoongi trying to say. BORAHAE
then at the end of the tour at "The Final-encore" he finally opened the door and walked out smiling, after performing amygdala so many times during the tour, I want to believe he had a very needed catarsis from all those emotions.
In his song 'The Last', he walks through the white door smiling, and it stays open.😊
One thing I appreciate about your video is that you’re very smart and your analysis is always amazing! 💜
Tearing me a river cause similiar past😢❤
The fact to me is Suga trying to save Agust D ....i'm crying ..he's gone through so much pain :C
I feel like I'm reading yoongi's diary while watching this mv and listening to the song
You are awesome......take care.....it is very difficult to be vulnerable for the fear of getting hurt.....
suga took us on a very deep emotional personal journey, this video was an artistic masterpiece. i loved your commentary and reaction to this song. i personally had to go back and listen to the songs 'huh, 'dawn, and 'snooze. after reading the lyrics again i think, i received the total storm message ''of completeness'' from yoongi, suga, agust d, as one whole' person. this was an amazing video that was breathtaking and should be a psa for all to see. we all need help and suga gave us 'himself'. thanks again for your reaction.💜
I've shed some of that shell thankfully.
thank you for giving love and support to our suga 🫂🙏✨
This is one of the best reacts I have watched so far... The explanation was on the point...
The music video for Amygdala is intense and UA-cam has put a warning on it, so that you need to choose to watch the video, it won't show up on an algorithm or playlist. I agree with the decision, especially after seeing some of the reactions on twitter, such as the music video triggering PSTD, etc.
The car actually ran into Suga but he couldn’t/wouldn’t recreate that for a video.
Also it was a bus and his shoulder was rolled up into the wheel.
@@khakibase38 Where did you get this from it was a car and they took off not a bus
LOVE everything you said in your reaction! I think it’s a perfect explanation! Thank you.
DG i respect the hell out you ,for someone who calls himself an unsensitive bastard, you are doing quit ok man .
Yoongi really opened up to us. This may be
healing for him , to face his pain and trauma.. and for us, who are also going through the same thoughts...
But after seeing this MV, I can never see that scar as anything but pain and proof of Yoongis strength and perseverance 🥹
thank u Yoongi for sharing us urself. you are strong . u deserve all the best . 🥹🥹🥹 #agustd #dday #amygdala
He defenetly put all his pain into that song. I still cry while listening 😢
I waited patiently, specifically for your reaction to this MV ❤
That was such a good interpretation. Thanks so much
I hope this album is what he needs to get closure, he has healed all of us 100% it is so amazing.
Thank you for your reaction. On point for this amazing song!
Just how I admire Yoongi for his raw openness with us-I admire how real and open you are with us DG. I always have a high appreciation with how insightful your reactions are. You always find a way to make me look at things from a different perspective and that is why I keep coming back. Thank you for being you💜
Thank you for the reaction 💜
Always enjoy your thorough analyses of the works and the candid conversations about your own truths. Thank you.
Thank you for your reaction, love it.
Wao the best analysis I heard so far! Thank you! 💜💜 I cried so much with this song and felt in love with it at the same time.
I love your interpretation of the music videos and music. Thank you for your reaction and research you did. 💜
Thank you for your analysis! So much wisdom and understanding! What a great reaction!
We can too. 💜💜💜💜
