Jeff Buckley's Grace is one of the finest albums. Ever. His voice is a transportation device. Within seconds, you're THERE. Relating, and feeling KNOWN. Beautiful.
Grace is fantastic, but I think the live setting is where Jeff truly shined. Live at Sine-e is amazing. Just Jeff, his electric guitar, and his vocal chords and it's UNBELIEVABLE. It's really hard to believe someone could sing like that LIVE. Mystery White Boy is also a fanstastic album that has songs from a handful of live shows during one of his tours (this time with a band). I love Grace, but I honestly don't know if I ever listened to it again after hearing a live version of every one of the songs on it. No reason to.
I get so happy when someone discovers Jeff Buckley for the first time. This is always on my playlist rotation. Jeff was influenced by Zeppelin and they were big fans of his music. He was gone too soon but the music he left behind is ours to keep.
Diane Davies his legacy is both ours to keep, and ours to share. The divinity of such love and loss seems at times utterly unfair, so sadly laced with an uncertainty rooted in passionate despair. From a sentiment so woeful to fill the hearts of the world so full of loving and longing so hopefully strong it may draw lonely souls back to rewrite all their wrongs. With the voice of an angel apparent behind the blackened hair, opened up with soulful regress for separated souls to reunite and heartbreak repair.

He's from Orange County CA, never really knew his father Tim Buckley who was a pretty damn great artist himself. But the son exceeded him, then died. We just got a glimpse of what Jeff could have been, he could have been the biggest music star in the world.
Yes, exactly. It’s tragic. With the little he did release he left a giant impact on a generation of musicians after him. He redefined rock music and shaped a slew of subsequent bands and artists. He lived in New York during the formative part of his career and I believe spent some time in New Orleans too. The last year of his life he lived in Memphis.
He died May 29, 1997 in a drowning accident in Memphis. The Mississippi I think. Get his album titled 'Grace'. It is beautiful. Thanks for listening! Your friend Kristine

Been listening to Jeff for many years now. Tracked down everything I could find on the guy. Read as much as I could. Not ashamed to say he struck me in a wholly different way than anyone else ever did. He made me realize what was possible in regards to artistry, and that one shouldn't limit one self from exploring your feelings in the context of music and it's boundless opportunities. He was so varied in his expression, but you could never ever take away the angelic presence of his voice; his lyrics - or hell, even the covers he did - combined with his flawless phrasing, which somehow held a great lot of desperation in its tone, it was always astounding to me - ephemeral even. But the deeper I went into exploring his legacy, and trying to piece together his character, the more I lost this perception of him as being something inhuman, and I realized he must've been quite the opposite: he was as human as they come. The notion of love and relationship, be it friendly, romantically or of course in terms of family, it was woven into his creative expression. I think he was just as you would imagine him: a flurry of emotions, but one that were hosted by a man who could communicate it SO fantastically well. Honestly, I don't think he was a happy guy, or at least burdened to some degree, but at the same time - and without trying to glorify misery - I think it gave a lot to his world view. He would always come across as this mellow and silly character in interviews, but to my knowledge he had a lot of anger. The more you realize he is in fact just a young man, the more you appreciate the dismantling of his heavenly persona and instead realize how amazing humans can be if they just worry about their craft!
This version from his live in Chicago concert is the best. When he Adlibs and sings "I didnt see you before but I see you now" brings tears to my eyes nearly every time.
This song gives me goosebumps every single time, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. For real, Jeff was one of the most talented and truthful musicians out there, so raw, so.... real. Oh, that was so reeeeeeal! I'm so happy you finally got here, this man is a blessing and will always be missed but he will stay forever. Now do Grace, please.
That’s my favorite Jeff Buckley song. His passion is scary. I sometimes wonder if the lady he was singing about heard this and thought to herself, “this boy is scaring me.” Now, go check out his daddy, Tim. You’ll find out where he got his voice.
Very seldom can I listen to anything by Jeff Buckley without tearing up. He might be in Heaven now but he brought a small glimpse of heaven to us during his short stay. Anyone who has the gift to hear his music has been blessed
I still remember first time I heard this song. I felt like a lightning struck me and shook me to my deepest core. Please do more Jeff reactions. I still love him after all those years.
Thank you so much for sharing Jeff Buckley with new listeners. This man's music is beautiful, heartbreaking, soulful and sometimes just downright weird in an amazing way. His music makes my heart ache because right after i discovered his music he passed away. He's inspired so many amazing musicians and his vocal range is astounding. Rest in peace Jeff.
Every lyric and vocal gets even better as you keep listening. Just when you thought you heard the most profound moment... BAM there's more. Exquisite. Rest in peace, JB. Thank you for this reaction video and dissecting each and every piece. Love. 💚💚💚
I've been listening to that song for the better part of 30 years, and it still gives me chills. It's one of those songs i can't listen to too often, cause it brings up some very real memories. Fantastic work.
I shed a tear on this one. “Grace” changed my life when it came out. I was flabbergasted the first time I heard it. Jeff went to GIT in Hollywood with Paul Gilbert and all those cats and learned how to shred. Then he moved to New York, keeping his guitar skills a secret, and began to study Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the late great Kawalii singer. “Nusrat is my Elvis” he once said. Then, with these incredible guitar and vocal skills, he started doing cover songs and originals at coffee shops, most famously “Sin-e” on St Marks in the Village. Here he was discovered by an A&R from Colombia, and the rest is history. He was for me the pinnackle in an amazing time for music. What could have been, we will never know. The brightest flames burn the quickest. Love you forever Jeff ❤️
One of my all time favorite songs, both lyrically and vocally, it's beautiful... Jeff Buckley would have been a superstar and an influence to many singer/songwriters that came after his death...
Col Grey I just watched it for the first time after your comment. NO WORDS. Just AMAZING. Thank you so much for turning me on to this performance. Losing him and Chris Cornell.... still devastated.
@@stefaniebrauer128 you're welcome. Soundgarden is my favorite band. I actually discovered Jeff a few years after he died maybe around 2000 from a Chris Cornell interview. And yeah losing Chris hurt a lot and still does.
Check out his Mystery White Boy album if you haven't yet. It's a collection of songs from a few shows during his 95-96 tour. I think his live stuff is better than anything he recorded in the studio.
Same. This is a hauntingly beautiful lyrical masterpiece, reserved for my Lover. We sadly cannot currently share the rest of our lives together. It's EXTREMELY complicated, but the song wouldn't apply if it weren't. I have Faith though. Love can move mountains! Especially when you both KNOW you are Soulmates meant to share Eternity together♥️♥️I reflect upon the past moments of intimacy tangled together, & yearn for the next stolen moments spent wrapped up inside each other, as close as 2 can possibly be, both physically, & in the entanglement of 2 joined Souls that become ONE. Enjoying the present moments we bump into each other, & intuitively picking up on our ever strengthening exchange of pheromones, that lasts weeks after the moment, & excitedly anticipating the future spent together for the rest of our lives, as it's ALWAYS BEEN since the beginning of time, & Forever Shall Be INFINITELY. The Story of Us, that this song Evokes~
This song got me through one of the hardest times in my life. Late 90’s. “Maybe I’m too young to keep good love from going wrong” that line summed up a ten yr relationship. I’ll always love you Bonnie.
Jamal, I want to second the other's requests for Jeff's version of "Hallelujah". It is a soul-touching experience for me. Also, Jeff's dad Tim Buckley has a song you should check out called "Once I Was". Tim was taken from us too soon and Jeff followed in his footsteps. Both were amazing artists who expressed our emotions though their songs; even ones we didn't know we had or needed to get out.
OHHHHHH!! yes yes yes PLEASE do more Jeff Buckley.... i KNOW you will love his music, *all* of his music is him pouring out his whole soul. and he is one of those rare musicians that are often *better live* than album versions. 'Mojo Pin' live in Chicago is a must! 'Grace', 'Eternal Life', 'Halleluyah', 'Opened Once', on and on... truly Angelic voice, the ability to make you feel what he is feeling, i could go on forever about him...
My favorite Jeff Buckley line was from his song "Vancouver" ----------- "I am your failed husband contender. I'm your loan shark of bliss" But if you really really want to hear what his voice was capable of, check out "Corpus Christi Carol", from his Grace LP. Angelic doesn't do it justice
This man was brilliant and we lost him way to soon. Great choice for him, definitely my favorite of his besides 'Forget Her' And damn I've heard it so many times but that last breakdown of this will always rip my heart out.
Dude. Listen to live in Chicago. Thanks for the great video. It blows my mind every single time I listen to it. Wish he could have stuck around longer. A gifted man. Peace.

I'm so happy you finally got here, this man is a blessing and will always be missed but he will stay forever. Now do Grace, please.
I would watch this guy do Grace in its entirety.
Jeff Buckley changes you.
RIP legend.
One of the best voices of all time singing one of the best songs of all time. Can’t get much better than that.
Oh So Real! My sweet Jeff! What a soul. So glad you are about to take a dive in!
That’s my favorite Jeff Buckley song. His passion is scary. I sometimes wonder if the lady he was singing about heard this and thought to herself, “this boy is scaring me.” Now, go check out his daddy, Tim. You’ll find out where he got his voice.
Maybe Elizabeth Fraser?
It was his ex-girlfriend Rebecca Moore.
@@davidkellers8152 All Flowers In Time....
@@cremetangerine82 I thought the song "forget her" was about her...
I'm a simple man. I hear a Jeff Buckley song, I hit 'like'. This song still brings tears in my eyes. We lost him too early.
Do as much Jeff Buckley as you can. An amazing artist.
Jeff Buckley has the voice of an angel. He left us too soon. 😢
Shes a tear that hangs inside my soul forever. Gets me every time
Thank you for the video, have always loved Jeff's music
I'll NEVER forget the day I heard this song for the first time. My life hasn't been the same since.
I’ve always felt Jeff fully left a piece of himself behind in every song he recorded. When we hear him now… that still feels true.
Well said
LOVE LOVE LOVE seeing the first reactions to someone hearing Jeff Buckley!
You don’t just hear the lyrics and music, you FEEL it.
Every lyric and vocal gets even better as you keep listening. Just when you thought you heard the most profound moment... BAM there's more. Exquisite. Rest in peace, JB. Thank you for this reaction video and dissecting each and every piece. Love. 💚💚💚
this made me pay more attention to the lyrics, dang
My fav song by Jeff. So much ❤️✨😇
One of the best songs ever written.
Jeff Buckley is my number 1 of all time . Congrats on your discovery and appreciation of Him.
I've been listening to that song for the better part of 30 years, and it still gives me chills. It's one of those songs i can't listen to too often, cause it brings up some very real memories. Fantastic work.
I just bawled my eyes out. Again. Thank you. I saw Jeff live in 1996 in Australia and I still miss him ❤️
Yess! Jeff was incredible.
This song and all flowers in time are 2 of my favorite songs by him.
One of the best songs and artists ever to walk this planet.
One of his biggest influences was Nina Simone. One of the few singers that give me goose bumps every time I hear him.
One of my all time favorite songs, both lyrically and vocally, it's beautiful... Jeff Buckley would have been a superstar and an influence to many singer/songwriters that came after his death...
My favorite from Buckley is "What Will You Say" Live at Glastonbury 1995
Col Grey I just watched it for the first time after your comment. NO WORDS. Just AMAZING. Thank you so much for turning me on to this performance. Losing him and Chris Cornell.... still devastated.
@@stefaniebrauer128 you're welcome. Soundgarden is my favorite band. I actually discovered Jeff a few years after he died maybe around 2000 from a Chris Cornell interview. And yeah losing Chris hurt a lot and still does.
I’ve watched that about 100 times. So powerful!
Check out his Mystery White Boy album if you haven't yet. It's a collection of songs from a few shows during his 95-96 tour. I think his live stuff is better than anything he recorded in the studio.
AStoeckle Absolutely. Such a powerful gifted performer.
Memphis blues, folk, alt-rock, and just dang good songwriting. He always gives me chillbumps when I hear his music.
This is my favorite from him. I can just keep playing it over and over again.💔
Jeff was a friend of mine. When he passed, we had to tell his mom. That was heartbreaking.
Never gets old. One of the most beautiful songs ever written.
And then there's the evocative "I am a railway track abandoned / With the sunset forgetting I ever happened" from "Opened Once"
He has the voice of an angel. What a talent gone too soon.
This man was brilliant and we lost him way to soon. Great choice for him, definitely my favorite of his besides 'Forget Her'
And damn I've heard it so many times but that last breakdown of this will always rip my heart out.
So happy to see your reaction. Jeff Buckley was amazing. Still listening on heavy rotation. Thanks!
I’ll be honest, I would take someone back if they sang this to me. Jeff’s voice is just so emotive, seductive, and beguiling.
Dude. Listen to live in Chicago. Thanks for the great video. It blows my mind every single time I listen to it. Wish he could have stuck around longer. A gifted man. Peace.
I cranked that song up with you, it started bringing tears toward the end there. So sad he passed so young.
Jeff W so thrilled my teenage daughter loves him. Continuing to keep his beautiful talent alive for the next generation.
