I wonder why most phones abandoned it, even for their budget smartphones. I mean instead of their shiny plastics which could easily get ruined once you drop it on a rough surface like concrete road, they could've opted for those bright colorful polycarbonate build and it would sell like hot potatoes.
I mean, they're back. Everywhere you look now. In the budget segment, only plastic or what manufacturers call glasstic backs are available. No more metals bodies anymore. I miss the metal body phones. And what is strange the older phones with metal bodies are much lighter and durable than the present plastic and heavier phones.
I use this phone as a portable radio speaker, it actually sounds great and also as my secondary phone. I bought this phone last year at 14 dollars in a pawn store.
I've had my 920 since launch, and until recently never needed to upgrade to different phone. Sadly, the internet has changed to the point where it's current browser is all but useless, with many websites simply not being supported, and the shut down for support of the app store a few years ago making it impossible to add new apps to the phone. With the NHS app pretty much being mandatory these days (coz Covid) sad to say I will have to shelve this for something else. I hear Android phones have a few apps that can mimic the layout, so I'll prolly go with one of those.
I used my Lumia 920 for 7 years straight till it died :D by the way, I updated it to Windows Mobile 10 once using windows insider (or whatever it is), It ran absolutely terrible. I even remember it overheating while standing still, downgrading it to 8.1 saved that thing :D
Microsoft discontinued it's App Store. UPI do not works in windows phone. just u can use it as secondary phone. U can view youtube, Gmail, calling messaging, browsing surfing internet but many websites do not works on it, but camera is still a beast can defeat 8000-10000 rupee phone in 2022 battery backup is worst
Windows Phone 7 and 8.1 were absolutely a piece of sh.t! Especially the settings menu. It had neither a logic nor a structure. It was horrible to search for a certain setting entry. File management was also horrible. Desktop widget were another weakness of that OSs. You could not switch wifi or Bluetooth directly from the desktop. Even the battery status widget was not able to show the current percentage directly. You had to open the app first so that the value of the widget could be actualized. Windows Phone absolute a piece of sh.t! I say this as a software developer. :)
The 920 is a really really nice smartphone, but I guess you were better off by trying a more recent Lumia. Even if how beautiful this hardware is, it's kinda limited for 2020. I suggest trying like a 930, or even better a 950XL, which with its way beefier internals it can run things way more easily

it has a web browser internet explorer which support UA-cam website where u can play UA-cam videos, Microsoft discontinued App Store. It was a mixture of iOS & Android. It was a great device until 2019. I still own a Lumia 820
Thank you! Well I haven't really heard of the brand Realme, so I cannot say..I googled it and it looks a nice phone with a tear drop camera..but I think you can get a Nokia 1.3 or Nokia C2 for the same price..Nokia is reliable and has longer updates! Hope that helps :)
I'd recommend buying a Nokia 1.3 instead because Nokia is more reliable and runs Android One so it will be updated for a long time..its also about the same price
@@Techformative557 What? NO! Windows Store is still running in Windows 10 Mobile OS just few app services have been stopped giving support like Facebook, Whatsapp, etc...
@@Techformative557 it still works .If you havent updated the os to the latest build you have a way to do it but you will need a pc .After the update you can use the store and as well as the apps .The bad thing is there isn't much apps .
@@LETTITBITYT its not updated via any Operator .You will need to manually update it using a pc and command prompt .It takes time , like 30 min. After the update there is no problem in using the store.
Yeah the Palm Pre...I have one of those. And I wouldn't say invented but the first to put one in a phone, but it was not QI certified. The 920 was the first QI certified one
