Hi Ali, I would really appreciate a video on how to actually be the person you want to be without fall for every self improvement person online messing with your mind
Really liked the conversation bit you added in the middle - unfiltered conversations you have with other creator friends I guess. Of course nothing is unfiltered, but you know what I mean. Easier for you to shoot and cut out bits you dont want and keep going with your video outputs without an official "filming day"
I forced myself to made weekly videos for years. Then one day, I decided to be a free-range cow, and not care about the money...and now I'm much happier. ☺
Ali, I've published 32 novels (some with Random House!) over 15 years and I feel exactly as you do. I, however, can't make a living from my writing and have continued to write the novels while I work a full-time tech job. I envy your position, because it's my dream to focus on being a creator; however, I write what speaks to me rather than writing what speaks to the masses. It's a conscious choice I've made, and sometimes I wonder if it was the right one. We can only answer that question for ourselves. I love your channel, but what speaks to me most about it is when you are producing the content you love. I tend to feel the vibe when you're not and my engagement isn't there even when I watch the entire video. This channel speaks to me much more than your original one at present, so that might give you some insight. I hope you enjoy your tour and I'm looking forward to seeing where you go next.
The struggle makes total sense because we have to be in “ production mode” for so very long, but having the option to do what you actually want is the whole point, so I’m glad see it for what it is
It's an interesting circle. Just like Vanessa Lau. He quit being a doctor because it took to much of his time and was unhappy. Then he built a business that took all his time and now he's unhappy. It's also interesting this video isn't on the main channel. I want to do what I want but I know this won't work on my main channel.
What an amazing video. Ali you are a true inspiration! Don't forget the goal of this life is to wake everyday and do whatever you feel like doing. Streamers are making a living doing whatever comes to mind with no hesitation.
Definitely love this idea! But I also wonder if you kind of have to pump out content at the beginning, and then you can take your foot off the gas after you have a sustainable income? I've been trying to just live the way that I want and make UA-cam videos consistently, but also not pushing myself to have a consistent upload schedule, but it's also hard to live the way that you want when you don't have money.
If I was ever lucky enough to get to your status, I'd just post monthly. Work like 5 days a month and go enjoy my life! Consistency is still key in my opinion, but once a month, or fortnightly, is still consistent
What is interesting to me is that you find his analogy about cows sad, just imagine that because of our milk drinking habit, this is literally the lives of hundreds of minions cows worldwide.
Ah I’m so glad that you are still having this type of existential crisis - now I don’t feel as bad since I’m still constantly going back and forth between the same thoughts! I change opinions a few times per week 😂 I think it’s all about finding the balance between working enough, to bring in enough revenue to sustain the life you want to live, whilst not being sucked into working for the sake of working. That’s the balance I’m still trying to find 🤞🏼
As someone who is currently launching myself in the YT game following a lot of your advices from you videos, courses and book, it is super interesting to hear this from you Ali! As you know YT is hard work and sometimes I dunno why I put myself through this haha especially when the results are not there yet. But I am also interested and believe in the potential of what I do. You on the other hand have already reached this super high level and don't need to grind as much as you used to and you should enjoy that. In the future, even if you post less, your subscribers will be happy to wait for you and what you are creating in whichever form so don't worry! We will be there for you and we all feel that you have been there for us.
It's great that you've made some of these observations and "I'm only going to do what I want when I want to do it" is great for those who can do it! Just be prepared that it's a very poor preparation for being a good husband and father - two things you've expressed are eventually important to you.
I just wanted to express how much I appreciate your openness and honesty about your experiences as both a creator and a CEO. Your journey offers valuable insights into the realities of this space. One aspect that strikes me is the heavy reliance of creators on brand deals, which often necessitates a relentless output of content to meet payroll and maintain a profitable business. This constant cycle can sometimes overshadow the passion that initially drives creators. I firmly believe that creators should explore building more sustainable assets to support their operations. Such assets can provide a financial buffer, reducing the pressure to accept every brand deal that comes their way. This shift from feeling "I have to" create content for financial reasons, back to "I want to" create for passion, is crucial. As you've aptly put it, running your creator business with strategic constraints is key. It's about balancing the drive for profit with the original passion for creating. Thanks again for sharing your journey - it's truly enlightening.
Thanks for sharing your struggles. I recognize the difference between willing and flowing. At least that's how I call it. Follow your flow is so more creative than creating because it is an obligation. So please share about how it is a differnce between planning and flowing and what at the end is the result of your creations and the respons of your audience.
Hey Ali, I've been watching your videos for a few years now and I will continue to watch and support you for whatever you decide to do in the future! I get the sense that maximising content creation drains creativity and takes the fun out of making videos. And while i'm sure it works to grow your channel, personally, I haven't been a consistent viewer because you put out a new video each week. I watch your videos because I love hearing about what you are up to and hearing your thoughts and opinions on topics. I hope you continue to follow a more authentic path with your videos and I look forward to seeing where this channel goes. And I am proud of you for taking the more difficult route!! Best of luck!! 🙂
Love the cow analogy ❤ and great editing on the cartoon cow portion 🐄 Thank you for your vulnerability and sharing your struggle. Been watching your UA-cam since COVID when I suddenly want to learn how to invest in stocks and come across your video that teaches noobs that. You have a way of teaching that never sounds condescending which I really appreciate! Thank you ☺️ Huge support here ❤
Very interesting, many of us never get a choice like this, due to monetary responsibility . I’ll be interested to see how this part of your life journey works out. I’m rooting for money not being you’re key driver, hope this lands you in a place where you can keep giving your perceptions on things.
Hey Ali, it's cool to see you going into this 3rd Jedi phase. I've learned a lot from you in PTYA of getting to phase 2 (treating creation like a business if I want to make a business) so it's really cool to see you handling this tricky phase 3 pretty well. I remember reading Vanessa Lau's post on why she was leaving YT - basically she's saying something similar where she started her business so she could improve her life, but it became a situation where she was living for her business instead and that's when she changed things up. I'm definitely nowhere near that point currently but it seems like a nice dilemma to have.
Cow analogy is hilarious, but makes complete sense. Sounds like you need a break. A proper break. And then you'll be itching to record before you know it.
I think the idea I've heard before is that freedom isn't "working in our underwear working 4 hours a week" but the ability to choose your life constraints. (Probably Mark Manson) Like I get glimpses of Brandon Sanderson's life and think 'holy shit that's not for me at all' but probably for him, he's living his dream life (80% at least i hope) Thanks for sharing Ali :)
Well done for being brave and leaving money on the table in pursuit of happiness. Guess you've now put that fear of scarcity firmly back in the box 🙌 Most people only manage to do so later in life. Always amazed how insightful you already are at your age.
Doing things based on feelings sounds like a terrible idea. Think of going to the gym, eating healthy and putting effort when you feel like it. 9 times out of 10 nobody feels like until they start doing it. Time constraints are good, though. 1-hour daily constraints are for extreme pros probably, but 4h daily is quite doable.
Thank you for doing what you’re doing. I’ve been thinking “if money were no object” and it’s as if there’s a block in my brain that doesn’t let me think that thought 😑 As a singer/songwriter/painting artist who LOVES making videos but felt doing it was taking so much of my time and wasn’t where I made my $, turning my creativity into my job has me frozen. It’s a trap but it’s also a blessing.
I'm at the stage where I'm being milked. Seeing some traction and monetizing my audience. Will keep the grind until I can become a free-range cow like you. Never thought I'd say it but being a free-range cow seems like a legit goal.
I enjoy your videos very much, I guess for me I feel comfort in a routine and so have something to do each day, despite being flexible maintains my mental health. Have you thought about if 3 months down the line, you might lose a bit of meaning and then that can cause some misalignment ? x
Really interesting watching you have an exisistential crisis when you seemingly have it all. Maybe something that grounds you beyond life on earth and the worldly pleasure it provides
I cannot believe you made a video on the IQ curve bell curve meme without making a video about the IQ bell curve meme and kept a straight face the entire time
I wonder if this will also mean handfuls of unemployed people like over at Matt D’Avella’s channel. I don’t say that to be accusatory but it’s a very real possible outcome. I love that he mentioned his team’s quality of life at the end of the video; I wonder what this feels like for them as well
I wondered the same. This feels a bit like the elephant in the room. It’s Ali’s prerogative to tailor his output to his lifestyle but logically fewer videos means fewer staff members
It's not the first time you raised that question. What is does raise is the question if you are the prime asset of your channel. Or can your team create the same movies/podcasts/courses with someone else while keeping up the high quality and output In doing so, securing income and running the business and you Ali making content when you feel the need/have inspiration. Or is it, that you worked your ass of for six years and are now in a dire need of a real holiday for one or 2 months to reload the battery and overthink your future
The cow analogy reminds me of a scene in Upload (on Prime Video) where they have bred the com to have hundreds of udders, no legs, is plugged into a VR headset and is milked 24 hours a day. Definitely need to get off that production line.
Hello Ali, I participated eagerly in the giveaway, reaching out through emails and comments with genuine enthusiasm. The anticipation was high, and I had hoped for a chance to take a step towards my passion. However, not receiving a response has left me feeling disheartened. Despite this, I appreciate the opportunity for the opportunity❤❤❤❤❤❤ I want to express that my feelings of disappointment are not directed at you. I had invested a lot of hope and effort in the giveaway, and it's disheartening not to have received the chance I was eagerly anticipating. I understand it's a part of the process, and I'll continue to support your content. Thank you❤❤❤ Opportunity
Weirdly, Dave Ramsey talked about this issue, in a way, on The Iced Coffee Hour podcast when talking about retirement. Essentially he leveraged his platform to create a team of people who talked his talk on camera like him. ua-cam.com/users/shorts00Sqk2H-6bA?si=GtSix9T9nGXDmxY8

What content do you guys want to see from the vlog? Going to try keep going and test out various formats!
What are your thoughts on casual vlogs with all moving around n things n with the cam in your hand...?
These kinds of reflections regarding your business + daly life.
Would love to see some cooking, heck even organizing videos!
that would be fun :D

Agree 🙏
+1!

everything in my business is optimized for lifestyle design, not profit. best feeling ever.
9:01 The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Love your videos.

Ali, I feel like you've been wanting to do this for a year or two. I know it's not easy, but you've got to just do it!
The structure of being a cow seems really nice, without structure - chaos
Love the transparency! Thank you Ali!
I feel like a homeless person hearing rich people talking about not being able to afford their fifth private yacht.
This is now my favourite UA-cam channel 😅
can we just appreciate the slow-mo in the jacuzzi
First! Keep up the good work. I love the behind the scenes and proactive thought that goes into your business.
I'm at the stage where I'm being milked. Seeing some traction and monetizing my audience. Will keep the grind until I can become a free-range cow like you. Never thought I'd say it but being a free-range cow seems like a legit goal.
How you managed to commit to that analogy and not laugh about it - a true mind of steel.
Sweet, ali! Wish you all the best man
Go for it Ali ....have fun
You really changed my mindset about success and I like your approach.
agreed, for creators it's like a new 9-5 job :(
I enjoy your videos very much, I guess for me I feel comfort in a routine and so have something to do each day, despite being flexible maintains my mental health. Have you thought about if 3 months down the line, you might lose a bit of meaning and then that can cause some misalignment ? x
I love that you shared this. Thank you. Feel like one myself.
This hit hard- loving it!
It was great hanging out while y'all were in Austin, man.
Glad you're applying constraints and giving your udders a break 😂
Please expand on feel good business in a free course or a book.
Love the video and you do you Ali
Lucky me. I have a well paid fulltime job and can make videos whenever I feel like it, because it's fun and not part if my income.
Really interesting watching you have an exisistential crisis when you seemingly have it all. Maybe something that grounds you beyond life on earth and the worldly pleasure it provides
Ali are you going all Matt d'avella? Thanks for this upload, it's insightful and helpful :)
I cannot believe you made a video on the IQ curve bell curve meme without making a video about the IQ bell curve meme and kept a straight face the entire time
" i feel like im a cow" - W internet quote of the day😅 currently reading your book, been binging this second channel as i paint, thanks ali!
I wonder if this will also mean handfuls of unemployed people like over at Matt D’Avella’s channel. I don’t say that to be accusatory but it’s a very real possible outcome. I love that he mentioned his team’s quality of life at the end of the video; I wonder what this feels like for them as well

I wouldn't have known how many uddenrs a cow had either, though I would have suspected an even number.
Time to repurpose more content! haha
Your book in amazon after waiting for more than a week, showed as arriving today, but i did not get the book.☹️☹️☹️☹️
Exceptional video, loved this
What t-shirts are you wearing Ali?
The cow analogy reminds me of a scene in Upload (on Prime Video) where they have bred the com to have hundreds of udders, no legs, is plugged into a VR headset and is milked 24 hours a day. Definitely need to get off that production line.
I'd love to see you visit Cincinnati!
Your in Austin!?!?! That’s awesome!!

If you happen to find your way to Salt Lake City let me know! 😁 It would be a sincere pleasure to meet you for a meal.
Get to the "Jedi" level first in whatever path you're on, and you won't ever have to work again.
I would recommend a terrific book for you to Read Ali, it's called Az-Zuhd by Ibn Al Qayyim (RH)
Please get healthy gamer on your podcast!

I feel sorry for your team 😅 you change your mind about business decisions very often and that because you have so much money in such a young age...
Moral of the story: Let's all become free-range cows 😂
Am I the only one who notices Ali a little sad in all of those clips where he was mentioning other creators.
Does this also mean being productive all the time makes life boring?
I dont know why you keep saying this over and over to us, Ali. Money IS no object to you. You have way more than enough now (and to comfortably live in the future with your compounding dividends and investments). Yet you continue to posit. Sell your business, unwind your team, and go back to making unsponsored content on no one else's timeline except your own.
Come to grips with the reality that you are chasing fame and the vanities that come along with it. It's okay to say that - but can you stop peeing on our shoulders and telling us its raining? Like you know the answers, you just don't like them because it means actually removing the quiet part that YTers never talk about (but of course is true); fame and recognition is almost as important as the money itself. I also think you are reaching for something that simply can't be obtained - but thats a job for your therapist.
Stop waxing poetic about Watts and just do the thing - like youre always preaching about...When is enough just enough?
cool
Where do you stand on eudaemonia? U speak a lot about active happiness, manifesting joy in the current moment but what about the happiness that comes from strife? e.g triathlon or David Goggins type of joy. I feel the 'active happiness' is conducive of later life regret. Why are your constraints only localised? What if a constraint was avoiding the regret of not sacrificing momentary joy for a much larger goal? Accommodating possible retrospective goals. Like random example - amassing the wealth like Elon Musk's and changing poverty in west Gambia forever - something absolutely major.
firstttt
i have a question , why was the milk boxes coming out of cow's ass?
Maybe it’s time for you to get married and start a family
it'd be ironic if most productive guy on youtube turn into a bum haha
