    Finally, someone talking about the airline retaining clips. 1 million videos on converting the suspension or whatnot, but nothing on the actual airlines and their retaining clips..until now! Thank you!

    Excellent video. I found this video while searching for a solution for the issue that I'm having with my '04 Navigator front suspension not airing up when it's below 40 Fahrenheit. I suspect that the valves on the solenoids are freezing in the open position because the "crack" staff at the dealer didn't replace the dryer after they replaced the pump (since that's about the time I started experiencing the problem).
    Keep up the excellent work!

    Thanks for the video. Everything worked out fine, but I noticed that I am not getting a good seal on the two hoses fitting into the pump itself. At about the 3 minute 52 second portion of the video it seemed you has two yellow fasteners which accepted the hose and then locked into the pump; I suppose giving it that true snug fit I'm lacking. Did they come with your pump because my pump did not have those. On, can you give me an idea of what those fasteners are called and where they might be purchased? Thanks again for this informative video.

    I changed the relay & pigtail on my 98 Navigator. The pump goes on for 2 seconds & then shuts off without pumping up the rear. The pump stays on when I connect a wire to the 2 thick relay wires. Also not sure how you connected your wires with the window motor. Any suggestions? By the way, the front is perfectly fine. Awesome videos too.

    The compression fitting are reusable push back on yellow and wiggle line out then you can put it back if you want if you need to disconnect it for some reason. Love that style

    Hi FordTechMakuloco I've an interesting problem here with my 07 Navigator. So troubleshooting the rear end down issue, while I was checking the connector to see if there's power going into the compressor I accidentally touched the other pin in the connector and shorted something and lost power to the connector for the compressor. I've heard something tripping like a blown fuse, checked all the fuses and all checked out fine. Checked the relay #53 in the Power Dist. Box (Air Susp, relay) and all related fuses Also fine. Where else should I check? Thank you

    Thank you for making these video posts they are a big help.
    Okay so about 4 years ago I went to a store and when I came out the front end on my 2005 EB 4X Expy was down. I started the truck and the compressor started normally and it pumped and tried but was not able to lift it (suspension light came on after a bit).
    It is very odd , when it is over 70 degrees the truck suspension is fine, when it dips below nothing. Electronic board crack?
    So I've replaced the tops and o-rings nothing. I've replaced the whole front bags complete, did not do anything. I've replaced the compressor dryer nada. I took it in in the beginning and the dealer wanted to replace the tops and o-rings fro 500 bucks. I've taken it to a local shop and he replaced the lines (leaking a little ) and a new front bag, that did not do it.
    I just replaced the ride height sensor and nothing. Now the compressor wont start up and it immediately goes into a suspension light on in the dash. I jumped the relay and the compressor works, but it wont lift. I guess the control portion is not enabled so it cant. Today I replace that relay see if that does anything. Is there anything else? IS it possible the ride height sensor was bad and the relay wont engage?
    Taking it to the dealer next, I give up.

      Yes both front height sensors should be disconnected from the linkage and cycled up and down and checked for voltage input to the 4WAS module.

    ok. my 2003 lincoln 2wd navigator front suspension does not lift when its cold. the compressor is running.( the rear suspension works great all times). in warm temps, fronts work great and holds in the air and runs great. do you think the cold temps might be revealing the compressor and dryer is getting worn down and might need to be replaced?

    Thanks for the video nicely done. I have a question. I notice that mine would work almost all the time. In these are the leaks basically at the pump?, and not in the rear part of the vehicle. The reason why I ask is because mine that for along time and now it does not work should I be worried about other things?, or should I just replace the compressor like you showed in the video?

    • @FordTechMakuloco

      anievestor Replace the compressor then check the rear bags for cracks that are leaking and overworking the pump.

      +FordTechMakuloco I have a similar issue with on 03 marquis ultimate edt. air compressor kicks on and all I hear is hissing from the compressor location. could this simply be a bad air line? when it happened it was about 25°f outside, the compressor kicked on, then I heard what sounded like a loud pop from under the hood.

    My 2005 lincoln nav, is releasing air at certain time thru the solenoid, front passenger side, and is no going all the way up like it has to be, what do u think? Could be the height sensor that is making the solenoid to release the air? (Note) i have already replaced both solenoid sides too, and it's not leaking.

    I have a question I hope you can help me with I have a 1996 Lincoln Town Car it has 74,000 miles on it in great shape right however I do not drive it that much and recently I started getting a slow start in the morning and just this past week and a half I did not drive it at all and went out to a dead car battery does the air ride system keep the car level when the ignition is in the off position I know in the past I have heard the compressor come on well near the vehicle with it off as it did on the Lincoln I had before which was a 1995 so I guess it boils down to should it be coming on while ignition is off if there is a leak in the bags? If so I plan on converting over to coils and shocks

    Hi, nice video. My rear suspension sags all the way down. The airbags and solenoids are brand new but it will not air up the rear all when the compressor comes on. Could the new solenoids be sticking or the compressor be too weak? The compressor doesn't sound weird but could the internals be broken and not binding?

    How do I know if my expedition has this air ride? I'm assuming it does but it's an 06 and I bought it used 3 yrs ago. When I first started driving it it felt like I was driving a big fluffy marshmallow around which was awesome but over time I can now feel every little bump and it has a very stiff ride. Idk what to start replacing. It hisses over speed bumps too, both front and back. No air ride dash light ever came on so idk if it has this or maybe it was disabled a long time ago (read u can do that to keep the compressor from burning out if a bag leaks) before I bought it. I just want my marshmallow feel again xD

      So you never had any issues before the compressor went out? There is one other thing that is common on these if the rear is not getting air. There is a rear fill solenoid on the frame under the drivers seat area these fail often and will not allow air to the rear springs. I assume you have 4 wheel air springs?

      You have coil springs now? Yes just disconnect the air compressor pump elec connector.

      My 2000 Gator is doing the same. I've disconnected the bottom of the ride height sensor and pulled down on it about an inch to fool the system in thinking it is too high and thus lower by releasing air from the bags. I hear clicks from the front of the car and in the air bag solenoids, but the system never lowers. Is it possible to have bad solenoids that will allow air in, but not out? I also noticed the ride height sensor has some lateral play in it, could it be worn out. From what I've read these are pretty reliable. For reference I have 180k mile on it. Thank you for all your help +FordTechMakulocu

      James Matsko I have the same issue in my 01 XLT 2WD. The rear sits too high at times and I don't hear air being released from the air bags when the solenoids click. Have you found a solution for this?

    • @TheHolyHandGrenade763
      @TheHolyHandGrenade763 5 років тому

      FordTechMakuloco can you please discuss ways to troubleshoot this system if air isn't being released from the air bags when the solenoids click? After carrying a heavier than normal load, my 01 XLT will sit too high and generate a check suspension light on the dash. System was running fine with no errors before I replaced the 2 original air springs/solenoids. I also replaced the compressor and rear ride height sensor as preventative maintenance.

    I have a 2000 town car. I cranked it to warm it up yesterday (it was 15 degrees not normal for east texas) it was sitting normal but the compressor did make a weird noise like it was leaking air but I didn't pay much attention to it. I came back out 10-15 minutes later and find it sagging in the rear. The compressor comes on but it doesn't air up but to me it sounds weak not as loud as before. I turned the air suspension switch off for now till I figure something out, any suggestions?

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  9 років тому

      chino8407 Yeah it sounds like the vent valve is leaking on the compressor.

      Do I have to replace the compressor or can I buy that valve seperate? Also is their any way to air it up while I get it fixed?

    I have a 2004 Navigator with no front end movement after compressor replacement. The rear came up. I took left front line off air solenoid and put smoke machine pressure on it. The machine showed no flow. Is the vent solenoid normally closed in the ignition off position? I unplugged module. Then, I put power to left front solenoid and turned compressor on, The left front did not move. Do I need to put power to the vent solenoid ,too? I tried to do testing with scan tool. I cleared codes. But, I am getting C1991 code now. It will reset after ignition switch is turned back on.

    • @FordTechMakuloco
      @FordTechMakuloco  9 років тому

      Was the control module changed? You need to get the ride height calibrated at the Ford dealership or the code will not clear.

      FordTechMakuloco The compressor and 50amp fuse was changed. I have an OTC scan tool. It pumped up the rear. But, rear never came up . I tried to do the two test on the scan tool. Then, latter the code came up . Could clear but reset.. I was going to try to make the system work by putting power to the solenoid and make pump relay work .I put power to the LF solenoid and grounded pump relay. But,could not see LF move. Do I need to put power to the vent solenoid ,too? Is the vent solenoid normally open with no power to it? I am doing this with module disconnected at module wiring harness.

    We have a 2011 Expedition 5.4 V8
    Would the air compressor be located in the same location as the 2009 edition? What should be removed to expose the compressor?

    • @FordTechMakuloco

      Yes same location behind and below passenger headlamp. Best to remove the tire and the at least the front part of the wheel well liner and it will be right there

    I have a simmilar problem 07 Nav. Pump runs but ass end slammed down. The air seems blocked between the dryer and air tube. I disconnect and I can feel the air. Is this a bad fitting. Failed dryer? sould I replace whole assembly or just the dryer

    • @jasontorian5046
      @jasontorian5046 9 років тому

      yes I can feel air coming out of the pump... I dont know how "strong" the air should be but...its coming out.. I order another pump assembly... I feel that even if I'm wrong that pump will statistically give way at some point and I will have one on hand....What else could it be? I had given some thought to moister getting into the air line...and its reallly cold right now

      I was thinking of putting a space heater in the garage in an effort to warm up the garage.....maybe it would thaw if thats the problem. But that begs the question of how moisture gets in the line? does that mean the dryer is failing? (again the pump IS running)....Could it be the coonnectors/o rings? if so where do I get those...?

      FordTechMakuloco Since the pump is running does that mean that the rear linkage sensors are performing as intended. If they have popped off does that send the signal that I'm (the truck) is standing too tall so release air...OR is there a valve stuck open on the pump there by releasing air.....? how could I clear moisture/ice out of the line if I replace the pump

    Great video. Called the dealer...."think my compressors out, what's ballpark to get it fixed?" "Lemme, see....compressor's $700 + labor, will be about 900." Gulp. Called local auto part dealer "yeah we got em in stock, should be about $260." Even if this takes all day I'm comin out ahead.
