    Thank you for making a Real review thank you for giving us part numbers and showing us the parts other UA-camser do not show parts they don't talk about where the parts come from because I have Expedition as well and I've been surfing UA-cam for looking for part numbers and everybody just keeps showing the part but never talk about part numbers so thank you for your review well done👍👍👍👍

    I have the exact 2007 El Expedition slow leak only noticeable if its parked for more than a couple of days. This video took all the guess work out, when the time comes for the conversion. Thanks for the posting the video.

    The reason that you tighten that bolt with the vehicle in the ground is because those rubbers will squeak and carry on to make noise if they have a twist or tension on it

    Thank you for this video, it's the best of all the ones on YT. Was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Did have to use the jackl to get the control arm to line up during the new installation, and also learned you have to line up the spring assembly into the control arm first before doing the center bolr Can't compare to the old air ride, it's been so long I cant' remember!

    Thank you for the excellent video! I am dealing with a slow leak in the right rear on my 2010 Navigator and am considering the swap, but it's my wife's primary driver so she may not like the ride if I do the swap. From a safety standpoint: my brother taught me to lay the tires/wheels that have been removed under the frame as close to you as possible without interfering with your workspace, just in case the vehicle drops, to avoid being crushed. Thanks again for the video!!

    Thanks for the video. When you were saying: " I have insider info and it'll ride better" I was thinking, no way that is going to be true. Then you talked about all the other things going bad (eg sensors, and struts etc.), I was thinking yeah that is 100% true. I have an old ('03) Expy. Got 17 years on the factory air ride. Three years on a SunCore replacement. Have gone through 2 compressors and 1 full set of ride height sensors. About to install the Truck's third air ride (trying vigor this time because factory is still discontinued). Sure hope to get more than 3 years out of this one. That said, I don't regret not converting to coil spring because when air ride is working, its a beautiful thing.

      You are 100% correct! I do t regret the conversion, but the air struts did ride better!
      Thanks for watching!

    replacing sway bar linkage to solid type is good option to eleminate bouncy feeling, i did mod on front link and install solid linkage and there is a noticable improvement, plan to do the same modnon rear.

    I love how this guy talks “given up the ghost “ 😂 “crapped out “ I’m laughing cus my truck is the same way and I’m having the same low rider truck problems

    Good video well done. I did the conversion and after pulling my trailers that I normally do went back to the air setup. Those struts were horrible for hauling trailers. Looked like I jacked up my front end and drop my rear ended with those

      Now that we have some time on them, I wish we had stuck with the air ride as well. It just doesn't ride as well without the airbags!

    I think the cost of conversion, compared to the cost of replacing the compressor would be about the same. The air ride is much smoother, if it works. Just my 2 cents worth. I had one with air ride, and now i bought one with regular suspension, and i can tell a huge difference in comfort. Just for anyone out there thinking to do this same conversion.

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  3 роки тому +4

      I agree that the air ride is smoother. The issue, however is the cost of maintaining the air ride suspension system as it ages. The lines are an issue, the compressors fail, and the rest of the system is aging at the same time. They can get costly to repair as they get older. In this case, since the compressor on mine failer, making the conversion was less costly than replacing the compressor and leaking air lines.

      I have the same truck 2007 Ford Expedition EL the air system is working fine and the air bags seem fine but the ride is horrible the rear bounces like crazy!!! Do you recommend replacing the air bags anyway?

    • @thunderroad7289

      Only problem with this is when you are hauling a heavy trailer close to max it’s going to look like you have the rear end to the ground and lifted the front. Those struts will not do well hooked to a trailer it will drop bad. How do I know ? Because I did it. Went back to the way it was….

      Actually, I have changed this compressor 3 times. The good thing about all this is that it was under warranty. Now I have decided to change to a conventional one. I think it is a very good decision.

    Great video! did you use some kind of specific spec for torqueing down the bolts back up for everything or did you just wing it? I'm going to be replacing my Air Ride with Suncore air suspension, wanting to keep the factory air ride system but refreshed.

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  3 роки тому

      Just tighten them all down. It's not critical to use a specific sequence for these.

    Are there any issues with keeping the airbags in the front and springs in the rear with the compressor etc?

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  2 роки тому

      Ours doesn't have airbags in the front. Not sure if some do or not. I assumed they were all just air bags in the rear.

      It's just a heavy wooden block to give me a bit more lift out of my jack.

    Hey by you going to coil springs dont think your gonna get the same towing numbers if you tow big heavy things. Theres a reason why ford put those air bags for the height adjustment and towing. But if your not towing nothing big or heavy ur good to go mate.😂😂✌✌😎😎

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  2 роки тому +1

      We don't tow with that rig. It's almost exclusively a people hauler for us. I have a F350 for towing. If I'm not mistaken they sold the Expedition both ways.

    Is it still a smooth ride with the coils??

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  2 роки тому +1

      It is, though the ride with the air suspension was a bit better, in my opinion.

      Honestly, I prefer the air ride, but it definitely is more cost to maintain. I think it does ride nicer than the coil overs that I got though.

      Does your truck bounce on bumpy roads? Because that is my problem I want to get rid of the horrible bouncing!

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  2 роки тому

      It bounces more now than it did with the air ride. It seemed silly smooth with the air ride before my pump failed. Now it seems like it bottoms out on the wrong bumps and bounces hard.

    Hey there I just bought these struts to swap my air shocks off my 07 EL EB.
    What did you do with air compressor?
    Also how is it holding up after 4 months?

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  3 роки тому +4

      Hi Josh, the air compressor is what failed on mine to prompt the change, so it wasn't any good. I considered taking the time to remove it, but ended up leaving it in place and just unhooking it.
      After 4 months, I'm pleased with the decision. I do, however, still get a "check air ride" notification on the message center, so I think I need to disconnect the controller for the system. If I do, I'll be sure and post an update video to this one! Thanks for watching!

    • @diymechanictv1233
      @diymechanictv1233  7 місяців тому +1

      They have 55k miles on them now and have been holding up pretty well. Struts seem to still be working as they should be, I just think I liked the way it rode with the air better.

      @@diymechanictv1233 thanks!! I bet. I have an 06 and I keep finding more leaks in the lines and struts. I replaced the compressor after I found a leak in it, replaced a t union and now I realize I have leaks in all the unions. I'm almost ready to give up on the air ride
