  • The most difficult part of vacuum belt repair is finding the correct belt and removing the cover without breaking the tabs. Fixing a Hoover is easy.
First find access to the belt by removing screws and covers, followed by removing the beater bar and belt, and cleaning everything. Then put on the new belt over the bar and motor shaft. Finally reassemble the beater bar and cover.

Thank you immensely about how to change the belt inside of the Hoover vacuum cleaner. I tried to figure out from the bottom of the vacuum and also tried to slip belt in hole with needle nose pliers and loop rubber belt that way until I finally found your video about remove top of vacuum and that one plug. That was so much easier. I really salute you and you are very smart. Vacuum cleaner works just fine now.

Thank you very much for making this video. I am 69 years old and following your instructions I was able to replace the broken belt and my Old Hoover works like new. :)

Mr. Hardware, I owe a debit of gratitude. I could not have fix my Hoover U5064-940 with out your video demonstration.
Taking the cover off with dealing with only plastic pressure tabs usually does not go well. But with your illustration of how to position the cleaning head and how to grip the cover I was able to successfully get it apart. Then came the belt. My belt had the right ID numbers but was 2" short. Then you showed stretching the belt onto the motor shaft. I was doubtful but it went on smoothly by the second try. Amazing. Thank you very much for sharing your know-how.
    Hank

THANK YOU! I have a Hoover Encore Supreme and it must be about 25 years old. The belt broke and the owner's manual is long gone! Your video was a great help! I put on the new belt and it works like new again! :)

Just a pat-on-the-back to say thx for this video. I've had my Hoover Encore Supreme since college (45 years ago!), and the if finally gave out. Was ready to drop $200 for one of those "new-fangled_ cyclone vacuums until I watch a few vids on their reviews. Thinking to myself, why would I want a new vacuum that you have to self-empty, clean out the canister each time, wash out the filters... NO WAY! So I came across this vid and was able to replace the belt (the issue), and the headlamp. Total cost 10bucks and good for another 40 years, ha!

Thank you very much! I have the type like you show in the second part of this video. You are the only person I have seen demonstrating replacing the belt on this type of vacuum and your instructions are much better than the users Manual. They are just what I needed! 😀

I love my Hoover Encore Supreme, it belonged to my uncle who passed away several years ago and gave it to me before he went into the nursing home...I can still hear him say "They don't make machines like this anymore...if you clean it and take care of it, you'll have it for a very long time." He was right...19 years this vacuum has been working and only now I have a small problem...I followed your instructions to the letter...It works like new. Thank you so much!!!

Thank you. Needed to replace the belt on an old Hoover. No manual and couldn't figure out how to get to the shaft under the cover. Your video made it simple to do.

I have the first hoover. Keeps burning belts. Motor spinning well w/o belt or brushes on. Brush bar seems to be turning free. Spins and works great for about 3 seconds to 1 minute. Bar seems to be free and not grinding etc.
Positive I have the correct belt

Maybe the bar rotates free, how about when it’s under load w/the belt on? Can the bearings use a drop of oil?

Did this for years! Thought I was so smart to use a screwdriver!! Don't have enough strength in my hands anymore though, so have to take to local place. Only cost me $8, including the belt.

I just hit the base tab/large gray button on the left of base and it bounced into an up position - brush/beater bar began to spin

Nicely done. Any thought on gently warming the belt...like leave it out in the sun for a time so it stretches easier? Or immerse in hot water. Nothing drastic: negative on boiling water and negative on microwave!

First, I positioned the (disassembled) vac on its back on my workbench, so that I would be pushing the belt downwards so i would not have to use my body as resistance to support the vac when stretching and slipping the belt over the motor axle. Then I immersed the belt in approx. 150F water for 5 minutes. Then, working quickly, I removed the belt, dried it a bit, slipped one end over the beater bar, re-attached the beater bar - and used a short screwdriver with two hands to slip the other end of the belt over the motor axle, as described above. It still took a fair amount of effort, but it worked.

Be sure you have the correct belt, there are many models. Also the bearing may be worn out and the brush is out of alignment, loosening the belt.

I can’t say, usually when I’m in a predicament, I find the repair parts diagram for an appliance, and that usually shows how it is assembled.

@@MrHardware1 so there was some dirt build up and after I cleaned that I worked (sort of) the brush spins but to me it sounds like the belt is a little too loose and it doesnt have a consistent spin, any thoughts on how to shrink the belt just a bit so it can have a better fit?

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  4 роки тому

@@wreckemtech165 It could be bad bearings on the brush, or the wrong belt...
