BG Music:
When this album came out, a couple of The Beatles said that they thought it was the greatest album they had ever heard. The Beach Boys are extremely underrated in most circles. They should be listed up there with the greats.
Always thought they were up there as one of the greats! Very popular, just look back at their sales.
Underrated? LOL
Brian Wilson one of the masters
Famed music producer Rick Rubin said Pet Sounds is the best album ever. That's quite the endorsement.
Brian Wilson is listed up there with the greats.
Vocal harmonies to die for. Brian Wilson... what a genius!
Isn’t one of his daughters in Heart?
@@leighsaldivar4439 you’re thinking of Carnie Wilson from Wilson Phillips
@@leighsaldivar4439 2, In Wilson Phillips.
@@mikelucey5035 yes!! Mackenzie too. Lol. Thank you! I knew I was on the right track. Chyna Baldwin. Michele of the Manas and the Papas. I’m 55 and my brain sometimes forgets lol
@@twolveslb43 thank you
One of the greatest songs ever written.
And Mike Love really had nothing to do with it.
YESS
Yes but why so short?😢 it could just need a second hook i was waiting for it
@@uhuhuhx4806thats some of the genius, the song leaves you wanting more
as a surfer i am legally required to love the beach boys.
You cannot listen to the Beach Boys' music without smiling!
Brad & Lex, you’ll love their “Help Me Rhonda”, “Barbara Ann” and “Little Deuce Coupe”!!!
I love The Beach Boys. My mom did too. When she was in high school they had sock hops. She said those were the days
OH YES!!
Barbara Ann is their worst song, at least that I've heard. It's so old and dorky sounding, almost as bad as My Generation or Do A Diddy. It's so... Danny Tanner... The other Beach Boys songs are timeless classics, even if they did poach Chuck Berry material.
@@uslegions2619 Why do you think my generation is bad, of all songs? The lyrics?
@@guitarraman1237 The stuttering doesn't help. Just the whole thing, really. I've always associated it with old dorks, and it's not as if I dislike music of that era, as The Doors and Black Sabbath are favorites of mine. The Who just rub me the wrong way, like a touchy uncle. I love Rain On Me though.
Lex is on spot again. The song is about longing for the morning you can wake up beside your love.
The Beach Boys are one of the most important and influenctial groups in history. Their best hits include:
"GOD Only Knows", "Help Me, Rhonda", "Little Deuce Coupe", "I Get Around", "Sloop John B", "Darling", ""California Girls", "In My Room" and two of the greatest recordings in the rock era: "Good Vibrations" and "Don't Worry Baby". Their album "Pet Sounds" is a landmark album.
My personal favourite was God only knows. If my, fading memoir is right, it was the only song Carl, the youngest brother ever sang lead. Please correct me if I'm wrong 🙂
And the unusual stuff too. Love Smile. Heroes and Villains. Surfs up… Whistle in… sublime beautiful madness
@@Neilsmu Heroes and villians, I wore out on my pub's Jukebox at the time. Smile, the album was a rip off, yes I know they said it was 'unfinished' but they still released it. I think it was maybe 20 minutes long. Couldn't even make a good cup of tea in that time ;-)
@UCuygDl8RpW20393LWnkRhAw I did say I'm getting old, thanks for the info I'm sure you'll be right m8 🙂
They were huge but I can't for the life of me, think of a band they influenced.
Pet Sounds is pure genius. The Wrecking Crew at it's finest.
Saw them sing this in many incarnations of the band, but the original guys, I saw them all sing it with their back up musicians, outdoors in 1978...it was so stunning, the harmonies were more than flawless. Lex nails it, the growing up part of being a teenager. Now we're all singing "Wouldn't It Be Nice if I were younger, then I wouldn't feel so frickin' old" 😂
They had totally their own sound. Love them.
Don't Worry Baby is probably my all-time fave Beach Boys song, but Barbara Ann is also great (the studio version in particular is super fun)
Studio version has Dean Torrence singing high notes with Brian.
Brian composed "Don't Worry Baby" for the Ronettes but Phil Spector turned it down.
@@samson9535 I would love to have heard that! It sounds tailor made for their vocal style.
Ahh the 60's, The Beach Boys were the best when it came to fun and great harmonies. Thanks Brad and Lex
The album this was on was Pet Sounds. It was regarded as a landmark album and one of the greatest of all time. Then the Beatles came out with Sergeant Pepper's Hearts Club Band.
Paul McCartney was inspired by "Pet Sounds". It is the most beautifully lush and creative album in history.
Not "was", "is". "Pet Sounds" usually makes all of the "Greatest Albums Ever" lists. When Rolling Stone magazine did their "500 Greatest Albums" list, "Pet Sounds" was #2.
@@Jessica_Roth Back in the 90´s Mojo Magazine ranked it number 1. The Beatles Revolver was number 3. Between them at 2 Van Morrison´s Astral Weeks, never heard that one maybe I should.
You guys always melt me. Adorable couple.
And Lex, I can listen to your giggle forever. It's like an honest, innocent child.
God's child.
Possibly greatest harmonies in popular music, magical!
Thank You! The rest of my day is going to better, having listened to this song. Grew up listening to this on vinyl..
Me to
Your smiles and Lexs' wow is what it's about. You can't listen to the beach boys with out feeling the Good Good GOOD Vibrations
I have been a Beach Boys Fan snce their first radio hit in 1962. Had every group and solo album and visited their warehouse/studio out in California back in1975. This year 2022 marks the 60th year of the group performing. Quite a milestone for 60 years! Rare! Rest In Harmonic Peace Carl and Dennis Wilson. Thanks for music! Peace Brian.Bruce,Mike, and Al!
Awww I love this and watching Lex's reaction! Such a sweet song. Makes me feel very nostalgic...🧡
I believe she has the best smile in the whole entire world. Can’t be nothing but happy watching her smile.😌
Great tune, great group. Lex you are so adorable, and it's not the pregnancy glow kicking in yet. That's just you. Brad, you did good dude. Y'all are such a great couple.
This song was featured in the Adam Sandler film called 50 First Dates. That may be where you heard it. My parents had most of their albums on vinyl, so we knew the band very well.
Pet Sounds is one of the greatest albums of all time. The whole record is brilliant. Absolutely ground breaking recording methods, and part was recorded in an empty swimming pool. It inspired the Beatles to do some of what they did on Sgt. Pepper.
We played The Beach Boys to the kids in the car when they were little, they’re great sing along car music.
What an absolute classic. Brian Wilson is a genius. Brilliant harmonies. I remember listening to this song on a transistor radio under my pillow so long ago. Beautiful.
The Beach Boys are Thee Sound of Summer
this song gives me such strong emotion, so much dreamy vibes. i almost feel like a happy sadness
The "Pet Sounds" album was groundbreaking for its time. It influenced most genres of music and music recording techniques for decades into the future.
Interesting thing , Brian Wilson the brains behind this band.. basically stopped performing live with them around the time of this song as he had many emotional problems but still continued controlling the band despite not touring with them anymore.. so they got various other people to add to the group as they toured. (including some famous people ). He did return touring much later on but has always had control. RIP to his 2 brothers Dennis & the angelic voiced Carl, the backbone of this band in their prime.. even though Mike Love was considered the lead vocalist.. This is one of their biggest hits in the 60's of which there was too many to mention... Loved Lex's reaction
Remember also, they started as kids outta high school and the three brothers( Brian , Carl, Dennis) and cousin (Mike) ...grabbed a neighbor( David) ,then a school chum (Al) and..now you know the rest of the story! Only in America , people!!! Enjoy their heartfelt music and harmonies.
This is one of the most wholesome magical songs of all fn time! one of the best opening tracks on any album too.
Aloha guys, good morning...classic 60s Southern California sound...a hui hou
Howzit Coopie
These guys were America's Beatles, masters of sound, song, and harmony. Makes me cry just hearing this again. Man, they could go deep. Cheers!
No... the Beatles were the English Beach Boys
Agreed! Huge fan and they rock. 😎
beatles were a george martin production. Brian wilson was head and shoulders above any beatle .
especially that POS wife beater lennon.
Not even a top ten American band. Cute songs are nice, but not rock n roll
@@deeg8849 nobody said they are rock and roll, more pop/rock. Legendary band though.
To say Brian Wilson is a haunted genius of the morose would be understated. One of the most important artists of the 20th century. You think this is a happy song. This is a song about what you never can get and what you can never feel. But if you did, wouldn't it be nice.
Kings of harmony. Great music. Another great song of theirs is Don't worry baby.
Lex is the best ❤ So descriptive and expressive. Love the reactions
This is the stuff that my mom loved. These guys and the Monkeys for the most part. Pop music for sure, but excellent pop music. I don't care if it's written to be a 3 minute radio hit. That's not sellout to me if it's a great song. That's genius.
Music played by The Wrecking Crew, as well as The Mamas and Papas, Sonny and Cher, The Association, Glen Campbell, Herb Alpert, 5th Dimension, etc., etc.
They are Icons, loved in there time, honored and respected by History and Historians.
I LOVE this song!!! And your ( her ) reaction was adorable! And yes the teenage angst so true I felt it deeply back in the day
The Beach Boys are THE VIBE. Instantly takes you back to a time maybe even before you existed. So many great songs. Good vibrations should be next.
such a happy upbeat song, makes you feel good. I love it
Still laughing my ass off at the end. That was hilarious when you cracked Brad up, Lex. He just totally lost it for a minute like he was saying what?! Love it.
Just a gorgeous song!
Love the Beach Boys!!!
I grew up on this music my mom was a huge fan of them ......lex you are glowing I love how you explain music God bless you and your family
This song featured prominently in the movie "50 First Dates". Drew Barrymore belts out singing it while she's painting her wall!
This is where they heard it, has to be.
@@shellzmoe8966 also "The Big Chill" with the Beach Boys singing on the sound track.
The Beach Boys are the one band I've seen the most live every July 4th on the mall in DC for the smoke in. Some of the best times of my life
Fan 56 years......they almost hit the essence Of Beach Boys music....which are themes many people experience throughout their life.......that first girl or guy you meet...you breakup...meet someone else...maybe get back together.....Friday nite parties.....romance....fast cars....and yes maybe the malt shop or Drive in....if your near the beach, there is the sun, surf, and sunsets...........you could be that guy who see that long hair surfer girl or a girl who spy's that fellow with the surf board......the sunsets and the camp fire glows, however similar scenarios could happens any where where guys and girls meet........Finally, it just fun music,,,it makes you feel good........ok, ready for the people to make fun, but most people deep down know what I am talking about...................leave with their closing song......Are you ready for some Fun,Fun Fun .....Mom ,dad hide those car keys, your daughter make take the car and come along with me and we 'll have some Fun Fun Fun.....bye, surf;s up
The brilliance of Brian Wilson... an excerpt from the #1 ranked album of all-time... Pet Sounds. No one has come close to this. The Beatles tried. No pitch correction. No fake drums. No samples. Done on a 4-track tape recorder.
This was in 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Great song
what a contrast, the bro sitting there all serious and the missus full of bounce beside him, ya crack me up bro 😅😅
Lex, your reactions are so endearing. Stop being so adorable! Brad, you hit a grand slam bro. Sweet.
Great song by the Beach Boys . One of my favorites .
Shout out to the Wrecking Crew for their backup on this one too.
I think you're right, the "memory" that this song triggers is really the relatable feeling it evokes from somewhere in your soul.
Great Surfing music. I've always enjoyed cruising down the So Cal coast , listening to the Beach Boys while searching for the perfect swell. Very proud of the local boys from the South Bay area of L. A.
Brad! You are becoming a lot more fun and inspiring with your reactions. Thank you!!!
Brad's come a long way - he may get even better when the baby is here.
Lex, you got a good vibe!! The Beach Boys! Probably my most favorite band of all time! Brad, yup! A prom dance song indeed. Have you reacted to "California Girls"? When I was in high school, a girl from California moved to our town and came to our high school. We had a 'free' juke box in the lunch area and California Girls was on it. That tune got played many many times in her honor for awhile. Thanks!
I'm so glad you did some Beach Boys! I love that you loved it!!
What heaven's choir sounds like. Thank you, Wilson family.
Wonderful reaction to some of the happiest songs ever. Beach Boys harmonies were something unique and special. Vivid memories. Lex very nice. You too brother Brad. Hahaha! I feel like a kid again.
The both of you really make me smile !!
The Pride of Hawthorne, California. I grew up about 10 miles from there. They were the epitome of a Southern California band with all of our surf, sand and sun.
I was the age group they were singing to. So Les"s 17 comment is dead on! Plus it does this ol' guys heart good to see young folk dance in their chairs because of the Beach Boys! Very cool!
The fact that she's immediately jamming with the fun vibe and he's looking like, "can I let go and vibe!“
I absolutely love her laughter and energy and joy
Great to see this bringing such joy to you as it does to me I'm 75 but this takes me back to my teen year growing up in Australia in the 60's surfing all weekend listening to the Beach Boys good times before everything changed. Peace out.
Beach Boys are and will always be - ALL THAT - EVERYTHING! Pet Sounds is up there for me. Top 5 greatest of all time.
What a happy tune and Lex's reaction to it brought a beaming smile to my face.
Thank you ❤
It was in 50 first dates, 2004, with drew Barrymore and adam sandler. 2023 i still listen
Awesome reaction! The song takes me back to High School. Thanks for posting. Back during Vietnam, we did think, "Wouldn't It Be Nice," if we were back home again.
One of my all time faves
You guys make me smile😊
You guys are just the cutest couple on the planet!!! May God also bless your soon to be born baby too!!!
This was always my parents's love song....they met when my Dad was 9 and my mom was 2. Ended up bring married for 43 years, until my mom's death at age 59 from cancer.
This song always makes me happy.
Loosing people who are close to you is never easy. I wanted to thank you for sharing a part of your family with everyone here. Stay safe I wish you and those close to you nothing but the best.
@@stanleydavidlepretre4241 you're very kind, thank you
Love love this song. So feel good. Just genius
Lex is like a little kid! She's awesome. 😊
they were so good! just super uber ICONIC!
Rock and Roll legends. ❤👍🤟
This song opened up the film "Shampoo" in 1975. It was perfect. Yay George!
Chicago "Wishing You Were Here"...Nuff Said.
No auto tune required. Some of the best harmonies in music.
You two are adorable and make my day better.
Masters of harmony.
Lex is just so joyful. Makes me so happy.
I love Lex's reaction to these beautiful songs.
You two are great. Love the beach boys so many hits this song always reminds me of the beginning of summer because the radio would play this and I remember the beaches in San Diego, California back then (1973-1978 and in 1981. Great days, crazy nights and always fun. Now I feel for you guys because it's looking more like a nightmare. I will never go back.
A wonderful song.....hosted by a wonderful couple..... you two are the best .....Cheers from Idaho old guy
Love this song
Reminds me of happy summer beach days! Love the Beach Boys- God Only Knows and Sloop John B are my fav's!!
50 First Dates Adam Sandler
I was about 15 when this came out, and listening to it now i realize i have had a great life. Thanks for playing this!
It’s the harmonies. You’ll be at the grocery one day and out of nowhere you’ll sing out loud “Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older.” The Beach Boys have earworm songs for days and days.
It was used in the movie "Shampoo" (1975ish) - great movie,,, Julie Christie & Goldie Hawn
One of my all-time favorite songs! Glad you liked that t!
this song was in 50 first dates maybe other movies too
Lex is so funny. Love y’all!
Reminds me of my college days. Tgis guys were fantastic
One of their very best.
thanks for5 lifting my spirits
SONG OF YOUNG love ,"you know it would be so much better if we say could say goodnight and stay together" love it.
Probably the most underrated band in history. This band was the American Beatles.
My favorite two bands in the sixties as a young boy. The Beatles and The Beach Boys. Loved The Monkees to.
The only group to challenge the Beatles in creativity, and astonishing song writing. And where The Beatles had John, Paul and George as songwriters, and George Maryin helping with arrangements z(Eleanor Rigby anyone !!!)…. The Beach Boys just had the sublime genius of Brian Wilson.
Simply astonishing.
