Jazz clarinetist Doreen Ketchens plays her dream gig

- Doreen Ketchens is an institution in New Orleans, where the jazz musician performs at the intersection of Royal Street and St. Peter, affectionately known as "Doreen's Corner." When "Sunday Morning" senior contributor Ted Koppel interviewed Ketchens in 2022, she stated her dream was to play the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. This month she got her wish, and "Sunday Morning" was there.

I was just in New Orleans the beginning of May and I saw her!!! Then this morning I’m watching Sunday Morning and there she is! I took a picture and video of her and her band. I will keep it forever!!!

Certainly Wynton Marsalis, a New Orleans native and managing/artistic director of Jazz at the Lincoln Center, knows about Ms. Doreen and has tried to get her there. Certainly! Certainly. If not, I may have to challenge him to a duel next time I see him.

We stumbled upon Doreen while visiting New Orleans a few years ago and have enjoyed her music and talent ever since. So happy to see her experience what she has worked so hard to rightfully deserve.
She EIGHT MILLION percent deserved it! She is an American TREASURE. Hopefully a few clarinet players see what she’s done and really start to believe in themselves.
