If there's enough space beside the finished supermarket, that canopy would be nice for a little filling station. Great start, looking forward to seeing this develop!
Possibilities are endless. Cafe, clothes retail, sports shop with indoor golf range/football goal, hairdressers, spa. Could keep raising it like an insane mall/ world trade centre focal point. Whatever you decide the modifications have been brilliant. I never knew you'd be rewarded so handsomely from Lego for the MOC submission even though it never got chosen.
It's a wicked awesome start to this modification......was somewhat surprised at the near end, was thinking the balcony was the ground floor.....but that was before you put the fencing......however still a good balcony can't wait for part 2......hopefully make it a bit longer.....I love watching these and your thought progress peaks my interest.....
I love how fast food corner took a moc/mod of ollivanders from the original diagon alley to a mod/moc of the corner garage that looks like it was once a boutique type of hotel from the outside
If you do have the alien cantina atop the supermarket, I’d love to see an alien stand up comedian on stage. You could also have a line up of aliens at the supermarket looking to purchase produce to throw at the comedian when they inevitably bomb on stage!
Ok, so I love this build and I think the supermarket will be awesome. About how to use the other floors, maybe other small shops like a clothes shop or even the record store.
Hi Robin really great to see you back i have seen shops like the one your making with diffrent floors i might have been in one or two i bet it would look realy awsome when it is built an put in your epic city you have such a awsome channel i dont have much money i would of loved to support you keep up with your awsome builds cant wait to see what you build next
I did something similar to my "corner garage". I ripped out the pumps and made that area an outdoor cafe. Made the ground floor a pharmacy (kind of fits with the vet on the 2nd floor). Build an extra floor like the 3rd floor and converted it into a duplex apartment. Also added some extra outdoor furniture for the roof with a grill. For 4 floors above the grocery store, you can keep then in theme. 2nd floor a small cafe with a roof deck for outdoor dining (I'd change the right-side windows to get more tables outside). 3rd floor a Chocolaterie (made with a chocolate fountain). 4th floor a nutritionist office (just thought it would be funny in the same place as a chocolate store). 5th floor a florist that uses the roof to grow here flowers.
One house I have lived in was kind of a semi-bungalo with door access to a flat roof. Eventually the ceiling of the room below leaked terribly. When and if you have a vet's practice somewhere you could add a yellow bin for biological waste to your grey bin and green recyling bin.
The second floor could be a bakery. Maybe have some other small specialty businesses in the other floors to have an old building that has been zoned for commercial businesses. Maybe the cantina is accessed thru a costume shop? Once the ground floor is done, maybe we can use that bit of square floor by the curved railing to support a sign or something.
Love it Robin... Can;t wait to see the supermarket! Couple of things. I wonder if you should move the little 'juliet blacony' on the first floor. Change it for a flower box, then small balcony, flower box, etc going up. It just seems redundant now that you have that huge walk out patio. Also, I love the idea of this building housing the cantina. Maybe not all the remaining floors, but 2 for sure. You could make it like a night club and have the second floor of the cantina open to the lower floor? As for the aliens using the open air patio. I wonder if there is a 'effect' you could pull off where it looks like they are disguised as 'normal' looking when outside MIB style haha
Hey Robin! If you wanted to make your space Cantina inside of this corner garage building you could take the floor plan of the grocery store below and making one more floor that size to hide more of the alien cantina on the inside. Also you could line the walls that will not be against another modular building be tinted glass to obscure your aliens even more.
Well... I did not expect to see this for the Supermarket stuff but VERY awesome! I am not a big fan of the Garage modular - I have one but still in box. But now having seen what you've done, and will be doing Robin,... Yeah -- the upper floors on top of a commercial space like a small market is a very cool idea!!
I was thinking you were going for a subterranean level, maybe with a parking garage. It'd be tough to do with the tables, but I maybe with an entrance to the supermarket on the parking level, and a see-through floor so you could actually see the parking structure and the second entrance, that might be really cool. It'd also give you an extra floor for the supermarket.
Speaking of entering home trough a facility: few years ago, my friend moved to Grudziądz, Poland, for a year to work. He was looking for a small cheap apartment. He rented out a small studio... and to enter his apartment he needed to go trough a conference room of an accounting office company! There were few more od such small studios made in this building, done by a very "creative" landlord!
@@RobinHoodBricks It was like ul. Chełmińska 80W/1/19 or something, I don't remember now exactly. Anyway, there was problem that he was lacking a separate letter box, so I had to send him mail to his workplace, haha!
Really looking forward to seeing the supermarket. Real Nottingham seems to have loads of small Sainsbury's and Tesco's stores on the ground floors of bigger buildings so I reckon this is probably one of the more realistic bits of Brick Nottingham 🤣 For the upper floors, I would love to see a dressmaking studio/alterations shop - there's a few different sewing machines in existing sets so that's definitely possible. Do you have an accountant yet? I know there's not much to show but maybe it could be full of accountants whose work is so boring they fell asleep! A fancy dress/costume hire shop would be great too if you haven't already got one.
The part from where you were at 17:00 without the Supermarket part is also well suitable as a start for an appartment complex of which the ground floor can be a common area with either storage or a common meeting area and the mailboxes placed there.
@@RobinHoodBricks what i meant was, that you could also leave it as it was from that point and transform it into just an appartment complex. Or do a simular building like this as an appartment complex. I do like the idea of a supermarket btw, but maybe just a grocery store with just some basic items is suitable as well. Here in the Netherlands we have small supermarkets which are called buurtsuper who all have basic items like bread, sodas, prepacked meat, some fruit and vegetables etc, but most of the time from just one brand. With the layout you have, you can opted for that name. Supermarket sounds like something bigger.
I'd say make the ground floor a deli/supermarket with the first floor being like a little lunchroom for people to eat their sandwiches and maybe play an arcade machine put like 1 alien there that people look weirdly at. Then increase the amount of aliens every floor till the cantina top with a parked UFO on the roof.
I haven’t seen any of your videos in a few months because I’ve been busy with my channel and school etc This is amazing I can’t wait to see how this goes as it looks so good I really like the cantina idea you had. I’m excited to see how it comes out.
I never thought I would see this set enter your house but I have been proven clearly been proven wrong. Jokes aside, I absolutely love this Robin! I can't wait to see what you do with this, I would definitely recommend you add a rotten food section to your supermarket, that would be funny 😂.
As always, great work. Looking forward to following your progress on this one. PS: : The Alien Cantina could be on the top floor with a rooftop patio. Away from prying eyes.
Great start! Since you put the boutique hotel at that corner it almost makes sense to make this a regular building and also get rid of those ugly bits on the corner (I agree on that). But I can imagine you won't want to redesign it fully again, in that case I would put it at the place of boutique and find a new spot for that one. Reason: this building will be really tall, and I expect it will be fitting well there.
Hi Robin, i always liked the corner garage very much. But when it is twice the original size...i may like it twice as much!!! Maybe you could cover up these gaps in the fassade with a sort of drain pipe or something like that...
Looks so good! I’m loving the idea of an alien cantina, but was hoping it would be its own seperate build. You could really let your imagination run wild with it. I would love to see some funky retail shops in this build (comics, super hero costumes, balloon store, art supplies?) with some crazy ass 3D signs sticking out the sides of the building at ‘jaunty’ angles 😉
In terms of ideas for upper floors, you could do a couple of additional stores, maybe a fabric/crafts store, or something like an escape room. Obviously up to you, though, of course. As for the Alien Cantina idea, sure, it doesn't look much like one, but then, I doubt that a building from Tatooine would fit well in your city, and that's sort of the quintessential version of the alien cantina. *Personally*, though, I wouldn't put it there, but rather in a small building somewhere near the Space Tower, really.
@@RobinHoodBricks actually, a costume store, here or somewhere else would be a pretty good idea, it'd be a good place to put all the particularly weird vidiyo minifigs and similar, I feel like.
I agree wholeheartedly agree about the weaknesses in the layout and build of the corner garage set from LEGO. One of the things that bothered me was the projection of the garage vehicle entrance and its encroachment on to the pavement. You seem to have promulgated that by having the balcony on the right side project by about four studs so presumably the squarer building on the ground floor will keep that footprint. Is that a conscious decision as it seems a bit unnecessary given the quite large space that you will have for the supermarket on the ground floor?
This looks so cool! I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Corner Garage, but my hometown had a building that looked just like this. The green news stand from the police station would look great in front of the supermarket.
Actually I think you could ditch the balcony idea and, as you suggested, use those double door as the ground floor entrance to the whole building. Then you could have a staircase more at the back of the building and maybe have a multi-tenant shopping centre, or antiques centre, with a couple of small shops on each floor. Then maybe a bar at the top with roof terrace. Not keen on the aliens cantina personally, but it would be a funny feature.
And once again I must say the official modulars tend to scale up quite well. I'm really looking forward to the new ground floor and how it will all fit together. I still think you should swap out the tiny balconies with the windows above them because it doesn't make that much sense to have that tiny balcony right next to the very big one. 🤔 As for ideas on what to put into the upper floors, I still think some sort of doctor would still fit quite well above a supermarket. Perhaps not a vet but a dentist or something instead. Only problem with that would be that you already have a dentist in the Assembly Square and switching that one out as well is probably not worth it. Another thing that might work would be a hairdresser which would also give you a reason to include all those very crazy hairpieces in and around that building. But the floor with the giant balcony would probably be best suited for some sort of bar or café - maybe even a small fast food place for pizza or sandwiches or so. Now, another thing I would really like to see at some point would be a tattoo parlour but I do realize that Lego haven't been too generous with pieces for that. But that just might make it even more interesting to see what can be done with what is available.
Great decision getting the corner garage! But if it were me, I would get 2 of the ucs at-at’s so I could re-sell it to get back more money. Just my opinion tho,
Hey Robin, I'd absolutely love to see a library in your city! You're an incredible builder and I'd love to see how you approach the challenge! Keep bricking! -A❤️
Reminding me a little of Afflecks Palace in Manchester - perhaps an eclectic range of indie shops on the upper floors could work well? Think of all the 3D signs you could add!! Excited to see how the rest of the build goes 😃
I think the alien cantina should be a floating building suspended from the ceiling! For the second floor, you could do a bakery/café with the chef hat pastry piece from your latest brick haul. High end supermarkets often have a bakery, sometimes with an area to sit down, so it could be incorporated into the super market. I also think you should definitely keep one of the floors as the vet, as I love that window. I know it would be a health violation to have animal waste above a supermarket, but perhaps you could have a health inspector coming to shut down the vet.
Seems to become an excellent conversion. I wasn't found at all by the Corner garage (or the Dinner modular for that matter). Sometimes I feel the smaller 3 in 1 sets got more character and appeal. That said this re-moc looks good so far and I am convinced I will like the end product. One thing I would try is to hide the odd but understandable wedge-shaped gap between the 45° facade and the outer walls. Wouldn't it be possible to add/ stack 1x1 round bricks there to create a smoother transition between the walls? Or use the space to fit drain pipes?
I may try that but I'm not hopeful. Cheese wedge pieces attached sideways or even tiles are other options. Failing that maybe pieces have been made in more appropriate colours since? I'll be focusing on the new ground floor in the rest of this series though!
Wow,it has been long awaited but not a bad start, but ard you putting a pharmacy in your supermarket,if you are, I think you should put a toilet and pharmacy on one of the other stories of floors
I’m a month late here, but holy crap- what an amazing idea! I wish I had grabbed a second set before it retired now that I see the way it looks with just those floors!
@@RobinHoodBricks lol you did an amazing job with the grocery store! As I was watching the series and you mentioned the chemical waste and biohazard waste plus residential areas on the top floor, I was like “omg why didn’t I think of that? I used to work for a vet & I’ve dated my fair share of mechanics- that’s disgusting!“ 🤣 it turned out perfect! Great job!
Looks great! I think it may look good if you switch the 2 side balconies with the floors that don't have the balconies. This way you do not have 2 balconies on the same floor, and typically see balconies on apartments.
A MOC that I've been workimg on is a reptile house / store after I noticed I had lots of snake and camileon pieces as well as a scorpion which had gotten loose, just a thought.
This will be the second floor of the final build so they'll come up using the stairs and go outside using the glass doors. If you did this as a standalone building you wouldn't have the fence!
To be funny. On the top floor U could have. A shopping trolley. Hanging on a chain. With mini fig holding on to the shopping trolley .Hanging over the edge of the roof. .call it shop till U drop...lol...as a street art desplay .at the supper market would look funny as ...👍
Don't know if you filmed that video before building the Boutique Hotel, but the piece 35480 you think is annoying in LBG in this one just released in Dark Orange in the Boutique Hotel and one of the Lunar New Year sets, so you may get your hands on some via Bricks & Pieces now already or via Bricklink soon!
Looking good, but with all the animals in your city maybe keeping one floor as a vets might be an idea, on could be the record store you've said about?
first i really like you video's. and again a great modification on a existing lego build. second i think (if possible) a darkorange tile on the balcony railing would look better. myself i have a (small) lego race track display with allot of customized original lego sets in it inspired by your video's
Aww that's lovely to hear. Dark Orange tiles sounds nice but the 4x4 curved ones don't exist in that colour, yet. I'll see how it looks in LDD though in anticipation!
Another great build I think that the upper levels should be 1 A LAW OFFICE for all the criminals 2nd A veterans like it was originally 3rd A Phyciatrist and the top floor the Alien cantina with roof access Aliens wouldn't actually use the front door or should I say side door 😀
At first, I was very skeptical of the Corner Garage. To your point, the corners looked ugly to me and the interior of the garage was very disappointing. However, I decided to get it, as I always get every modular. And then, when I had built the building, I fell in love with it. The facade was imposing yet very classic. And, the gas station was oh so good. Yes, I still didn't quite care for some of the issues I mentioned earlier, but they seemed obsolete compared to the charm the building had. Anyhow, what I'm trying to get at is that I quite like the Corner Garage, and I don't think it is as bad as you said. However, I do really love your version of it. I cannot wait to see what else you do with it.
Like you I like it. But Robin's re imagine is going to look great. I did a couple of improvements to mine. I tiled the bottom two floors. They look much better. The other thing I did was replace most of the ugly grey sections around the garage door and the mismatched technic bricks. Looks much better. Robin you've got me thinking about a roof garden now, thanks
Robin, this looks like a great expansion to the Corner _______ (no longer garage)! One odd visual aspect is the curved railing on the far right corner, placed on top of a squared off dark bluish grey plate. In the center, you've used a perfectly-matching curved plate to carry the same curve radius as the railing, resulting in a really clean look. Why not do the same at the right corner and round it off? Also, placing the larger of the two planters along that railing effectively blocks minifig access to the rest of the patio towards that same right-side corner. Would it be possible to extend the patio out another one or two studs to make that space more usable? Since it's effectively an overhang above the ground floor, it could conceivably cover over some, or all, of the sidewalk below without being a nuisance. Can't wait to see what's on deck for the next episode of this!
That looks amazing. I love the way you used the double doors on the bottom entryway. Does this door frame blue color part of the set or is it from your own collection? I have one garage modular saved but would love this use your idea for this moc for a lovely hospital some day. Nice work!
This is a great start for your supermarket. I’m looking forward to what you do for the interiors. Maybe one of the floors can be a hardware store?
this is my favorite type of build. take something that exists and make it better through and through.

Not how I expected the Super Market to look but it's a great idea. Hopefully you do the Cantina on one of the other floors. Great stuff !!!!!!

As for ideas on what to put into the upper floors, I still think some sort of doctor would still fit quite well above a supermarket.
My to do list is crazy long. Maybe one day!
@@RobinHoodBricks whatever happens going forward I can't wait to see it!!
Reminding me a little of Afflecks Palace in Manchester - perhaps an eclectic range of indie shops on the upper floors could work well? Think of all the 3D signs you could add!! Excited to see how the rest of the build goes 😃
Mmmmm 3D signs. Lovely!
You should make the upstairs rooms into like a private school
You could do a supermarket/cafe'/Bistro with each taking their own floor.
Oh thank you. Yeah that's a pity you missed a second set at original price. Anything's better than that garage in my mind!
Great job!
Maybe you should have one of the floors be the train dispatchers' office for Bricknottingham.
Looks great! I think it may look good if you switch the 2 side balconies with the floors that don't have the balconies. This way you do not have 2 balconies on the same floor, and typically see balconies on apartments.
Great idea!
A MOC that I've been workimg on is a reptile house / store after I noticed I had lots of snake and camileon pieces as well as a scorpion which had gotten loose, just a thought.
I have an exotic pet store already. It's a funny video, maybe check it out for inspiration!
@@RobinHoodBricks I'll have to give that a watch then
Loving this. You could add some climbing plants to the exposed architecture to hide it and use poison ivy as a visitor to the cantina
I did something similar to this about a year ago, then took the garage part and added a second garage bay and a carwash
How are the mini figs going to access the patio area and the front door to the shop as there is no opening
This will be the second floor of the final build so they'll come up using the stairs and go outside using the glass doors. If you did this as a standalone building you wouldn't have the fence!
Could you use the new for 2022 double doors instead of the ones you have used?
They are six wide only and don't come in Sand Blue. Otherwise, yes!
What about having on one floor your studio incl. Brick Nottingham in miniature ;)
Please no. Haha!
To be funny. On the top floor U could have. A shopping trolley. Hanging on a chain. With mini fig holding on to the shopping trolley .Hanging over the edge of the roof. .call it shop till U drop...lol...as a street art desplay .at the supper market would look funny as ...👍
Idea for the apartment above the model you could add a mini figure girl who’s jumping on her bed wearing a helmet
What about the pizza shop which space is your temporary holding area?
Looking good, but with all the animals in your city maybe keeping one floor as a vets might be an idea, on could be the record store you've said about?
A lesson in Robin Hood Maths:
Garage - Garage = Supermarket
Yup, that's correct. Tick!
first i really like you video's. and again a great modification on a existing lego build.
second i think (if possible) a darkorange tile on the balcony railing would look better.
myself i have a (small) lego race track display with allot of customized original lego sets in it inspired by your video's
Aww that's lovely to hear. Dark Orange tiles sounds nice but the 4x4 curved ones don't exist in that colour, yet. I'll see how it looks in LDD though in anticipation!
i was afraid of that the 4x4 curved tile would not exist in the right colour. but it was just i idea that got when looking at it.
Yeah, LEGO can be annoying like that!
Cool
Yay
Indeed
One of the floors could be a barber shop.
Got a barber in the Detective's Office modular but a salon could work!
What about putting a model shop above the supermarket
maybe you could rip out all the floors and make the super market shelfs go all the way to the top !!
That is a taaaalllll shelf. I'm gonna need some ladders!
@@RobinHoodBricks haha yeah or stilts!
Because you asked, I walk through a garage(my own) to get into my house, but only because it means I don't uave to worry about keys that way.
If you had a sick cat under your arm and there were random mechanics in there I think you'd find it more weird, haha!
Could the supermarket be an Octan supermarket, given that most UK supermarkets do have petrol stations as well?
How about an internet cafe on that second floor or a bakery/coffee shoppe.
Thought so new it was going to be the corner garage
I might make a Lego ideas just for the free sets
Go for it. You need to appeal to your audience!
That looks amazing. I love the way you used the double doors on the bottom entryway. Does this door frame blue color part of the set or is it from your own collection? I have one garage modular saved but would love this use your idea for this moc for a lovely hospital some day. Nice work!
It could now be an Alien Speak-easy bar?
Yeah, just give the special knock to get in!
@@RobinHoodBricks or one of the supermarket fridges was the secret door to the bar??👽
Honestly I’m a bit surprised you decided to keep this as a corner building given the change of purpose it’s serving
Corner ones work well in my city as short modular rows. This may be a row of two only!
