Thanks so much!!! Apple has made so many changes that has made it difficult to find a solution. As one that loves to make my own custom ringtones I was at my wits end on how to get them onto my phone with the new OS and Apple Music. I searched high and low and I'm so glad I came across your video. This is as simple as I've found the process to be. THANKS!!!!
Thank you Mr. Clive, Awesome easy instruction, worked my first go at it, I renamed my .m4a clip to .m4r dragged dropped done, now I can add my favorite tones!
I was able to do everything, got the green + with the m4r file drop, but it doesn't show up on my iPhone. PLEASE add section of you locating the ringtone on your iPhone.
Ringtones should appear in Settings>Sounds & Haptics>Ringer and Alerts (where you'll see the green volume bar), and BELOW that, where it says, "Sounds And Vibration Patterns", you'll see "Ringtone", with your current ringtone displayed. Press the current ringtone and all the ringtones you've made or purchased should appear and you can easily chose the one you like. Still, this tutorial about dragging ringtones did NOT work.
Weird thing is that this worked the 1st time. I created a text tone. But then I wanted to rename it, so I deleted it from my phone and did the whole process again but it wouldn't show up. Ejected and plugged phone in again, tried again... somehow the tone w the original name shows up... whaaaaaat?? Tried changing filename in case there were too many characters or something but still no good.
I did all of this and it didn’t appear under ringtone but songs. I couldn’t change my ringtone to it since it was under songs and you can only see the songs tab when you are trying to for example, change your alarm tone. What do I do? Nvm just realized my file was an m4a and not an m4r
To all the people having problems, make sure in the Device Options, to check "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" before dragging and dropping the ringtone file onto your phone. Was having the same problem until I checked the box.
Hi, on the phone itself on the ringtone list you can swipe left revelaing the delete button and press that. you can't delete the original tones, but you can delete any that have been added.
I'm sorry, it didn't work for me. I don't understand why Apple wants to complicate something as easy as adding custom ringtones. In the past, it was a piece of cake, now it looks like rocket science. Totally sucks.
is the ringtone in that m4r format and 30 seconds or less long? you're right it should be in sounds then ringtone and the ones you've added should be on the top of the list of ringtones. did you get the green plus symbol on the mouse pointer before you let go of the mouse button when you dragged it over on the computer?
@@davidclive4606 Yes to all of the above ,tried it twice and the the green plus symbol on the mouse was there when it was dropped.but still not in the ringtone section of sounds

You helped me create a ringtone from the song "Mirror Masa (I Think I'm Fallin' for Ya)"
Respect!
YES ... habe alle. meine Töne aus dem "damaligen" iTunes nach Catalina gezogen !!! Danke !!

Helped me so much. Thanks for sharing, my problem was I tried to put mp3 there
Thanks a lot , it worked 🎉
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN , YOURE A STUD
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! so simple now
Dude thank you! This is a good guide and I got a tone I wanted.
Didn't work at all like you described. Just a hint for other videos get out of that Black mode. Makes it hard to read.
Doesn't work when I try to drag the m4r file in. I wish I could add songs and ringtones to my iPhone quickly.
For everyone having trouble, you must first convert the m4a file to m4r.
Thanks man it was really helpful.
Thank you. I was struggling! Thanks again.
WORKS FOR ME
1. Make Your Ringtones
2.MAKE A FILE ON DESKTOP
3.SELECT ALL AND DROP LIKE IN THE VIDEO Thank you And Enjoy....
Excellent ❤
worked a charm, many thanks, been trying to transfer for hours, dropped across first time - all the best mate.

Well call me the village idiot, and I did what you said to the letter, but the ringtone is still not appearing in/on my phone as an option? Sigh...

Tried this, didn't work either.
Salamat!!
It turns green directly but doesn´t show up on my phone. Very annoying!
Thanks so much man really relieved lots of stress
Your ringtone must has 30s duration or less, it's a key !
Thanks M8! Some older tutorials didnt work anymore but this one did for me.
I got an error " was not copied to the iPhone because it cannot be played on this iPhone". Help me please.
its not working , I drop it after I saw the green plus but there is nothing on my iPhone !!
Doesnt work
Totally agree! Nice try, but it didn't work for me. I'm running a MacBook Pro 2015 and an iPhone XS Max
Thank You
how to delete the file?
Thank you!! Legend!
Thanks so much David! Apple make me crazy that they've removed the tones feature.
Instead of renaming use mp3 to m4r converter
Worked perfectly - thank you!
Thank you for this! I wonder why apple have decided to get rid of the tones page? Perhaps they forgot? Wouldn't be the first thing in Catalina...
Probably coz Captain Tim Cook the greed meister wants to grab more of our money by forcing us to buy ringtones. Come back Steve Jobs, we all miss you.
Thanks, man!!!! Big thumbs up, quick, easy, straight to the point. Cheers!
thx is working
thank you so much for this explanation, but how would one delete the ringtones?

great job mate! thanks 👏
It doesn't seem to work for me in Big Sur...
Same here. It seems Apple wants to make things harder and harder for users!
Bless
Thanks, worked great. I hate how hard they make it to use your own data.
Thank you soooo much :)
Thank you, it really worked.
was that a swallow at 1:11 or a heartbeat...
silent burp probably 😂
Thank you - works a treat. Trust Apple to hide things....
Ive done all this but still cannot find the ringtone I sent to my iPhone se, tried in sounds
but not there

Same, isn't working for me either, it says 'was not copied because it cannot play'.
@@johnboy651 Same here. It doesn´t show up
