hello Toni... I have been crocheting for about one month. and because of you i can now crochet with my eyes closed. I just turned 13 today and I just started doing different stitches. I just wanting to thank you for inspiring me to never give up on something I love doing. it was hard at first but I never gave up. Hope your having a nice day :)
That is so awesome! I taught myself to crochet and knit when I was 9 and I’ve been obsessed every since. I absolutely love seeing younger people getting into the craft!! Proud of you.
I love Susan Bates hooks. I have been crocheting since I was 12. That would be 51 years for me. I have used others but I always grab a SB. Love your videos! 💜
I saw these, and the handle with the hook color makes me think of lightsabers, which did almost get me to buy. The lack of decent case did turn me off. Instead, I bought an interchangeable lighted set that I believe you reviewed and panned. It works well enough with my current stash of red heart I’m working through.
I'd try them at a lower price. Thank you for this review. I've been curious about these hooks and wanted to see an honest review. I can always count on you for honesty.
Great video. My mother crochets and she's shown me how to make several afghans just by showing me the stitch, but I haven't been consistent. I struggled with having patience to learn how to read the directions. So, now that I'm retired I have time to learn more from her and you.
Hi Toni! I am so glad you did a review on these crochet hooks. My son bought these for me as a gift for Christmas. I was so excited to use them. I have been crocheting constantly with them since Christmas and I have to say I have had no problem . I am older,so the thick handle is more ergonomical for my hands; no more cramping.! I would LOVE if more sizes were added.
I purchased this same set last month. I didn't have an issue with the price, since I had a 50% off coupon from Joann's. I actually love it. I have a case in all my project bags, so having a carrying case isn't an issue for me either.
I can definitely agree with you on the points you brought out about the handle looking cheaper and about needing a carrying case. I would be willing to try them and i think especially if they got a decent case, they may be a great travel set.
My issue with having smaller hands personally is the handle length, I wish they offered a longer and shorter handle option on top of better feeling quality. The handle color with the tips reminds me of StarWars sabers, which is fantastic, but definitely not paying that much with something that feels cheap.
Thanks for the review! One more thing, you can insert a hook head in each end of the handle instead of the cutter making it great for travel with a couple of small projects! Also, the two heads can be stored and carried with the hooks inside the handle, protecting them while on the go. The balance with the additional hook is a little different but works and with my small notions tin I have a very compact but ergonomic set of hooks! 😊
I love SB hooks, and I love this set. They are super pointy and I don't like using them on nylon yarn because it catches it a lot. Acrylic and cotton have been great, though. Thank you for reviewing it, I always love hearing your opinion on things, especially because you describe your experience with each item. Thank you!
I was just eyeballing these hooks at JoAnn as well, Toni! Thanks for reviewing them for us. Also I'm Rachel K. who you shouted out for the coffee! So excited! Thank you!
We seem to be missing the main selling point here: they look like tiny lightsabers! I would not be able to keep myself from making "frrwwm, frrwwmm" noises with every stitch!
I agree with your comments entirely. I would love to try the kit, with your recommended upgrades. I love that the hooks are color-coded consistently with their other hooks. It makes it so much easier to find the hook you’re looking for.
That hook set is pretty interesting. I totally agree about needing a case. I'd also be concerned about a few years down the road the spring mechanism wearing out or the plastic on the hooks breaking. Thanks for this review it was informative.
You are my absolute favourite reviewer. I recently bought this set on my recent trip to the US. It was on sale at the time and I was able to use a coupon as well so I spent $23. It is well worth it and I have put the set in my own little zip up bag. I love the cutter as you can use it while flying on a plane. I find the hooks a bit cumbersome but I think with frequent use they will be a nice addition to my collection.
I would love to be able to do this as fast as you can. I am not good at making a chain or stich as even as they should be. I am just guessing that the more I crochet the better I will get. I've been crocheting for years on and off maybe for 2 or 3 weeks and then I don't pick it up for two or three years so I guess that's why. But I am going to keep on even after I finish my Christmas gifts and finish Christmas I've got things set up I want to do I want to see if I get better. Being on here will make me better and if not I will just enjoy listening to her teach or do a review is calming to me. Thank you so much.
I always look forward to and enjoy Toni’s reviews and it was interesting to see the interchangeable hooks set. I can’t really imagine why I would ever want such a thing, though. It doesn’t look like it would save on storage space beyond the same number of regular hooks and it would be much quicker for me to just grab a regular hook and start working instead of first needing to assemble the interchangeable hook and handle. I do like that yarn cutter, though!
I have the set and it cleared up a decent amount of space in my bag I keep the hook heads in a little mints tin with my needles, pins and stitch markers
Well, the answer is yes - I just purchased them on ebay. They were selling for 29.99 - with the CASE!!! OMG. Can't wait to try them! Thanks sis loved the video!😀😊
I like your critique videos. You give good and bad but also you're not bias. On top of that you say it woks for you and that it won't work for everyone necessarily. Thanks for doing them.
I am a Susan Bates girl, too. I have been looking at these for a couple of months now. I was so excited when I saw this video! Thank you for putting together such great content!
I just picked up a set of these. I love the way it works. It’s easy to use and cuts well. I just wish like you that it came with a case or bag to help make sure I don’t lose pieces.
I just checked on the JOANN APP and regular price for it is $43.99 but they’re offering 25% OFF when buying online for $32.99. And to be worth the discount I’d have to buy more stuff to get free shiping
I adore your honesty and the way you articulate your opinions, what a great review, with fantastic recommendations for improving upon this product. 10/10 video as always from TL Yarn Crafts!
I have these hooks and yes, the first thing I noticed was, it needs a case. I designed a specific unique case just for this. Also my 4mm had chips in the metal and made it unusable. Thankfully they have a little set where I can get another head but I do wish they would fix a few things: the quality, the lack of case, and quality control. Thank you, Toni. Love whenever you review anything!
I got them with a coupon and I actually love them! I do agree that the handle is not the best quality, but the cutter and interchangeable hooks make it worth it to me!
The extra pointy-ness isn't a deterrent for me, it is more so the neck on the bates that doesn't seem to agree with me as much. it slows me down! this was an amazing review as usual. you are always so thorough that I feel confident in whether I want something by the end!
Cute sweatshirt! I agree with wanting longer handled hooks. I'm in love with my clover amour set and not shopping for new ones. I do like getting a quality case with sets. Clover's interchangeable Tunisian hook sets and their interchangeable knitting sets both come with nice cases and no plastic to throw away. Hate throwing out the plastic form that just keeps tools in place in the package. Love your new glasses too.
I picked up some open stock Susan Bates hooks from my local Jo Anne's and the rubber grip and hook head elevates the hooks above the aluminum Boye hooks I inherited from my grandmother. I am now a Susan Bates girl.
I love SB hooks and wouldn't mind having this as another backup/travel set (I have the regular hooks as backup). I also have their bamboo handled hooks and adore use them every day. I'm not sure I'd like the chunkiness of the handle for these as much. I totally agree with you on the price/quality/no case. If someone gifted me these, yay but unless I could get them cheaper, I won't be paying $40 for them. Thanks for another great review, Toni!
I love that you got a glasses site sponsor, what a fabulous sponsor-to-channel fit. I've never heard of Glasses USA, will totally have to check them out!
A love the hook set! I purchased mine online on sale with a coupon.I paid only $25. I also like that you can also use the other end to store another hook, if you’re on the go. You can also store the cutter upside down. I do agree that there should be a carrying case of some sort, and the handle can be made better. Thanks for your review❤️
Thank you for addressing all my questions! I saw the circular snag of plastic on the back and was concerned! I agree that it's a great set, but definitely needs a better handle before I would purchase it.
I absolutely LOVE these hooks!!!! I have arthritis in my fingers and hands! This is sooo comfortable to use! I like the length and really love the barrel!!!! It takes a lot of the pressure from my fingers and hands!!!! 🎉
I purchased this set about 2 months ago from Joann’s, I agree 💯 with your review. Especially since I cannot find my handle at the moment! And they were way overpriced. If I would not have had a coupon, I wouldn’t have purchased them.
Man, you were so easy to listen to. I really enjoyed this review and you checked out everything I would’ve looked for as well. I subscribed I’m hoping to read more from you.
Thanks so much for your review! I bought this set for 32 at Joann’s plus I had a 25% off coupon on top of that. I just got them but haven’t tried them out yet. Huge fan of their regular hooks and really appreciate the points you made! 😊
Thank you for this review Toni. I'm a big fan of the Susan Bates silvalume hooks, liking the look of this so far. If I decide I need to get a set of interchangeables, I will definitely be looking at these.
I think the feeling is mutual about the handle on the Susan Bate hooks you reviewed. I have a set they didn't snag on the yarn and it wasn't bad to work with. I used them to make an Afghan and it was great.Another content creator did a review and she used hers quite a bit but the handle kind of wore so that was her only drawback. I put mine in a zippered pouch. Thank you for sharing 🥰
Hi. I've never crocheting or been interested in such a thing. But, it just so happens that there is a war going on in my country. And so at 10 months I broke down, but your videos make me feel better and I can sleep a little. So-o-o...Thank you
Thank you for such an honest review, I agree the price is a bit much!! I will wait till they improve on the some of the concerns, to make a purchase of this product.
Hmm...I'd buy them if the handles were nicer, to be honest. AND if they came with a case. As it is now, I don't see a good reason to consider them as a good interchangeable option. And it sounds like I can't get them in Canada anyway...maybe if/when they upgrade!
Hello from Michigan, I have been thinking about buying these. Still not sure, but thanks for your input. I love your sweatshirt. I love granny squares..
i definitely like the idea of these hooks more than the execution ! that grey handle is just such a depressing thing to connect to such colorful and nice hooks and im extremely not into the idea of having no nice place to store all these bits :( hopefully they will make a new version that is a bit nicer and really make it worth the price
Thanks Toni! I am a pointy hook person too and I have a large palm so I am always on the lookout for a longer hook. I agree the cost would keep me from buying them especially when I spent $16 for a whole set of knock off brand that are longer and comfortable to my hand. And I have not broke bc of my animals that I make with a tight stitch.
I got this set recently and do like them. I just wish they had a C and D hooks in this set as well. I am starting to crochet an afgan using this set and am seriously considering getting a couple of them for Christmas gifts.
@kathy carver I have used them since they came out about 4 months ago. I only use Susan Bates because the deep throat really catches the yarn. Yhe thick handle is so easy to hold and it has a rubbery grip so it doesn't slip out of my hand. There is a cutter you can attach to the bottom end so if I forget scissors, I'm covered. I don't have a ton of hooks, because you need one handle and all yhe hooks are interchangeable. These are expensive, but I got them on sale at Joann's bur they are worth every penny. Oh, and I have used them with thick, bulky yarn, using the 6.5 mm hook, cotton yarn using 5 mm hook and bamboo using 3.75 mm hook. No issues with any of them.
hello Toni... I have been crocheting for about one month. and because of you i can now crochet with my eyes closed. I just turned 13 today and I just started doing different stitches. I just wanting to thank you for inspiring me to never give up on something I love doing. it was hard at first but I never gave up.

Love this 🙌
That’s impressive for just a month! I definitely wasn’t that advanced that quickly, you should keep going because you sound really good at it! :)
That is so awesome! I taught myself to crochet and knit when I was 9 and I’ve been obsessed every since. I absolutely love seeing younger people getting into the craft!! Proud of you.
I wish I had started that young. My teen years were very stressful and I think crochet would have helped.
I’m not sure if Toni has been uploading more frequently, or if I’ve just had more free time to watch tv/UA-cam lately…but either way I’m here for it!
I have all of the hooks I need, but I wouldn't say "Bummer" if this set were gifted to me. Looks great for travel.
I completely agree about the lightsaber aesthetic
I'd try them at a lower price. Thank you for this review. I've been curious about these hooks and wanted to see an honest review. I can always count on you for honesty.

Joann’s has it on clearance right now 12.97 on up March 3-23,2023

I was eyeing that sweatshirt! Looking forward to your merch drop :)
We seem to be missing the main selling point here: they look like tiny lightsabers! I would not be able to keep myself from making "frrwwm, frrwwmm" noises with every stitch!
your last video about making a sweater meant so much to me, so I'm so glad to be seeing another video from you!
NGL… I’m more excited about that cute shirt than I am about this hook set 😅
I agree with your comments entirely. I would love to try the kit, with your recommended upgrades. I love that the hooks are color-coded consistently with their other hooks. It makes it so much easier to find the hook you’re looking for.
Love, love, LOVE the hair!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much for the review. I'll pass in getting the hooks. I appreciate the honest review.

Great idea about using this set on a plane so no scissors are needed!
You are my favorite crochet channel ❤️ You have such a warm, calming presence.
Looking forward to watching although I already know the in-line aren't my favorite hooks.
I would love to be able to do this as fast as you can. I am not good at making a chain or stich as even as they should be. I am just guessing that the more I crochet the better I will get. So excited for the merch drop (I love Chey Barton's illustrations, the sweatshirt is adorable!)

I was just thinking the same thing!
Same
Also, you can buy a lot of regular hooks for $40.
I have the set and it cleared up a decent amount of space in my bag I keep the hook heads in a little mints tin with my needles, pins and stitch markers

Yes, I have already bought it and I agree with you about the needles but I DO LOVEIT.
Michigan!! Yes, a crafty UA-cam Michigander! Yay! I was strangely excited to hear it! I feel seen? And you so right about the snowglare. ❄️
I just checked on the JOANN APP and regular price for it is $43.99 but they’re offering 25% OFF when buying online for $32.99. And to be worth the discount I’d have to buy more stuff to get free shiping
Expensive
I love that the cutter can stay in one end of the handle.
Silver frames looks stunning on you!! Well you always look stunning
I adore your honesty and the way you articulate your opinions, what a great review, with fantastic recommendations for improving upon this product. 10/10 video as always from TL Yarn Crafts!

I love this set. I bought them on sale from JoAnn’s for 25.00.
I appreciate your honest review. I've been eyeing this product since it came out and have been waiting for a review such as this. Thank you. 💗
I’m a clover hook person, but I still love your product review videos! I got my big clover hook set with a great JoAnn coupon!
I find this sort of thing so gimicky, I'm here for Toni but I won't be buying this hook set any time soon. Super video Toni, thank you!
Thanks for showing. Interesting needle set, but I have plenty of regular crochet hooks, especially since I’ve been learning Tunisian crochet.
The extra pointy-ness isn't a deterrent for me, it is more so the neck on the bates that doesn't seem to agree with me as much. it slows me down! this was an amazing review as usual. you are always so thorough that I feel confident in whether I want something by the end!
I agree with you on every point! I would not purchase these for any amount of money unless they redesigned the handles. Thanks for a great review ☺️
Cute sweatshirt!

Love your new glasses too.
Lol I was just coming in to ask where she got the sweatshirt
I picked up some open stock Susan Bates hooks from my local Jo Anne's and the rubber grip and hook head elevates the hooks above the aluminum Boye hooks I inherited from my grandmother. I am now a Susan Bates girl.

I started with Boye hooks 52 years ago and can’t get used to Susan Bates! Great review! Thank you for sharing!❤
I cannot use SB hooks either, for this very same reason.
I love that you got a glasses site sponsor, what a fabulous sponsor-to-channel fit. I've never heard of Glasses USA, will totally have to check them out!

Super happy you reviewed this set! I was eyeing but shy due to the cost!
I love the granny square sweater ❤️
Thank you for addressing all my questions! I saw the circular snag of plastic on the back and was concerned! I agree that it's a great set, but definitely needs a better handle before I would purchase it.
I absolutely LOVE these hooks!!!! I have arthritis in my fingers and hands! This is sooo comfortable to use! I like the length and really love the barrel!!!! It takes a lot of the pressure from my fingers and hands!!!! 🎉
Girl! I’m livin’ for that hair!! Also, love your content and you’re so detailed! I love that 🥲
I don't think I'll be trying these hooks, but thank you Toni for this review.❤️
I love the set I have. I put my set in a little zip up bag. I have had to replace the handle once because my puppy thought it was a chew toy.
I purchased this set about 2 months ago from Joann’s, I agree 💯 with your review. Especially since I cannot find my handle at the moment! And they were way overpriced. If I would not have had a coupon, I wouldn’t have purchased them.
Thank you for sharing this video. I love the Susan Bates hooks... I shall definitely give these a try... 🌟
I love that sweater! Definitely going on my wish list 😍
Thank you for the review, Toni. ❤
Man, you were so easy to listen to. I really enjoyed this review and you checked out everything I would’ve looked for as well. I subscribed I’m hoping to read more from you.
You are pretty much the only UA-camr whose adds I watch. :P
The case: I'm not really intersted in glasses. I just like to listen to you.
Thanks so much for your review! I bought this set for 32 at Joann’s plus I had a 25% off coupon on top of that. I just got them but haven’t tried them out yet. Huge fan of their regular hooks and really appreciate the points you made! 😊
Thanks for your thoughts on this!! I don’t understand the need for an interchangeable set but it’s neat to see.
Thank you for this review Toni. I'm a big fan of the Susan Bates silvalume hooks, liking the look of this so far. If I decide I need to get a set of interchangeables, I will definitely be looking at these.
Tony thank you so much for sharing your opinion on these hooks I would definitely consider trying these amazing hooks!
Omg i love your granny square shirt!!!
Hi. I've never crocheting or been interested in such a thing.
But, it just so happens that there is a war going on in my country.
And so at 10 months I broke down, but your videos make me feel better and I can sleep a little.
So-o-o...Thank you
I got these on Clearance at Joann. $15 for a full set and for that price, I enjoy it. In fact, I’m using it right now to make a large pumpkin pie. 😊
I love SB hooks. Must get. Thanks for your advice on this croching set.🤗🐑🌺!
I've had hooks snag on some kind or another burr...I just use a nail file or emery board to smooth it out
Excellent vidéo as always and Ooo your hair is so pretty!
Thank you for such an honest review, I agree the price is a bit much!! I will wait till they improve on the some of the concerns, to make a purchase of this product.
OH! I can't wait for your merch to come out 🤩
First time hearing of interchangeable crochet hook, I have heard of the knitting ones.
I agree with you about the handle and having a case for them. They do look like good hooks though. Thank you for sharing your review. 💜🙏🏻
I love your glasses.
Woah, back that up! A line of merch coming out? Squee!
Hmm...I'd buy them if the handles were nicer, to be honest. AND if they came with a case. As it is now, I don't see a good reason to consider them as a good interchangeable option. And it sounds like I can't get them in Canada anyway...maybe if/when they upgrade!
I just went to the website and the price did go up plus they are adding a deluxe set with a bag!
I definitely would use these hooks, having arthritis they might help some.
It’s Susan Bates hooks for me, too!!
I'm so glad you uploaded this, I had these in my cart and have been wavering back and forth on whether to buy ❤️
I love those hooks😊🧶
I love your top. I want one!
I got this set recently and do like them. I just wish they had a C and D hooks in this set as well. I am starting to crochet an afgan using this set and am seriously considering getting a couple of them for Christmas gifts.
Never been a SB fan, so I have no interest in these hooks. But I do love your reviews, Toni. Thank you…appreciate your honesty, always 🧶
Thank you Toni for another great review. For $40 I would definitely expect a little more.
I bought these and I love them.
