- Sky News host Peta Credlin says Australians are losing our “shared access” to national landscapes to Indigenous groups as Mount Warning remains closed to the populace “depending on your skin colour”.
“Now it seems our shared access to Australia’s spectacular natural landscape is also under threat depending on your skin colour,” Ms Credlin said.
“That’s what is happening now.
Mount Warning was closed during the COVID pandemic, but remained closed due to its "cultural significance" to the Indigenous population, she said.
Ms Credlin stated, in 2022, the NSW Department of National Parks recommended handing over the management of the Mount Warning site to the Wollumbin Consultative Group. Which previously claimed allowing females, including Indigenous, on the site, would ruin its cultural significance.

Yep it's disgusting mate. Here in Tassie we are surrounded by national parks, we have to pay through the nose to access them, yet their part of our backyard and heritage. If u want to do the overland track you have to book and pay high fees. It's ridiculous. Did a walk recently and they even have rangers going around randomly talking with people about how to 'poo' in the bush, and they prefer walkers to take their poo with them. So stupid. It's a way of keeping the public down and under control.
There's boom gates at cradle mountain and u have to pay to get a shuttle bus from the gates to Dove lake. Years ago I could just ride my motorbike right to the lake and go walking.So corrupt.....$$$

National parks should be open to all Australians. As soon as you involve these consultative groups to the table of course they’ll come up with all kinds of reasons to exclude non indigenous Australians. This is another example where indigenous groups should do the opposite of what the activists say. Instead they should embrace full access and take the opportunity to provide information about the park and share the historical significance of the area.
Once this gets tolerated it will be the start of more exclusions and a step back for reconcilliation, to the detriment of Aboriginese who have nothing to do with this nonsense

There is no aboriginal heritage on Mount Warning, multiple surveys have proven that. Also, the local Aboriginals along the Tweed Valley have state they have no heritage claim to Mount Warning. The NSW Government gave this area to an Aboriginal group from Grafton, who Federal Courts had already stated had no claim to the area and disallowed their claim.
It's about time that the Federal Government stopped giving powers like this to extremists be they Aboriginal or not. Australia is for all Australians to enjoy, not just a few. We need uniform Laws across this Nation, but Premiers in different States are bending to what these People want to the exclusion of white Australians. The Australian Taxpayers have been giving Aboriginals money for years on end. Billions of dollars have been given to them. It's not our fault that so much of that Money has been either misspent or has gone into the back pockets of people who have no right to it. We all need an honest Audit as to where all of this Money has disappeared to!! Too many committees, too many levels of Administration. It all needs to be simplified. National parks belong to all Australians, it is not right to refuse entrance to those paying tax and for the upkeep of the park. If it is private property out taxes should not be used.
Like most government agencies, NPWS is full of activists. This is not how to operate good government. We need disinterested officials who do the best to balance all factors for the long term benefit of the community. I'm surprised governments don't toss out the top echelons of agencies when they come to govern, because the activists always seek their personal objectives, never the communities.
