@@xerotonin6776 For me, after KNY and even that album is arguable 🤣 their two most recent cuts don't make me FEEL anything, it just sounds their most experimental. I really want Eros or just some return to form (Adrenaline-SNW).
Never lost my love for the band. I,m 49, an old school skater and surfer and have loved them since 98. I,m too old to be trendy or cool so i just love the music i love. Same with Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, Pearl jam , Helmet, Rage Against The Machine Pantera and so many bands i love not because they are cool but because i love them..fuck being cool or trendy, love what you love and fuck the rest
That White Pony tour with Incubus and Taproot… The intro of Korea, with the big red “White Pony” flag… I’m getting chills thinking about it! And that was over 20 years ago!
Dude, for a below 1k youtuber, this was a great watch. Held my attention the whole time with well researched clips for the band, insightful comments on what this album and it's songs mean to you and great bits of humor as well. The intro caught my attention but the rest made me stay. Once again, I didn't believe my eyes when I exited full screen when the video ended and was expecting at least two more digits after your sub count. Please keep at it!
I was 15 when it was released, and and a year later Deftones were like a holy band among alternative fans,, its was a good taste to like them, but they were like already ahead of everyone but people ddint want to let go of rap metal and nu metal, it was only kicking off and Deftones were already leaving towards more serious direction. I sensed it right away as i was very much into art and fashion and electronic music like Aphex and Autechre. The soundscapes , mixing of instruments had so much space and clarity, almost like transcending into the digital realm. Also Chris Cunningham and David Fincher ruled the visual aethtics of the time and WP ATK were giving those dystopian vibes , Ghost In the Shell and Metal gear Solid were cult like novelties moving towards new grounds of style ..I even really liked the new makover of the band into more dark atmospheric and stylish themes. Music felt erotic and not vulgar, like if you understood the atmosphere of Davyd Lynch and Cronenberg. Entrenhcing themes of mystery and sedcution, feeling of etheral ambience of haunting places of private parts of the city. And it really separated with technological aesthetics of different visual mediums like the use of stage light, night vision, distortion, color pallette. Even such small things like metal boxes and cords chaotically placed around the stage was a hint onto something machine like violent and powerful. Almost sci fi like with touch of artistry of futuristic illustartions of heavy metal magazine and liminal spaces of night streets of megapolis. It might not seem on point at first, but all of this combined added to bands identity and many of those symbols, nuances we relive today in the likes of youth culture, fashion branding, social network visuals, modern art and psychological emancipation of sentiments and fetishes among the youth.
Awesome vid as always. Man, I remember buying a VHS tape of shows from Deftonesworld Nuno a long time ago. Back when you had to really dig for band info.
Great content as always, Nocturne. By the way, they start to tour again and their current touring bassist is Fred Sablan. Really sad what happened to Sergio but i guess we will have more Quicksand
saw a clip of genesis on deftones live. i was like damn that's good. and yes it seems Sergio's already getting to work so I'm happy for him even though it's weird he's gone
Legend says that the cover of White Pony is heavily influenced by Hum's "You'd prefer an astronaut". The first three albums of Deftones are insuperable, not a single filler in 3 whole albums.
Damn that TRL top 10 list had some bangers! It also had a few whack ass songs. But Deftones,Korn,Incubus and even Nelly with Country Grammar. Still one of my favorite hip hop albums
Not bad. Pretty on point. For the record, no pun intended they fought like cats and dogs. They always had shouting matches, or silent neglect but I think this album really tested the resilience of the band. Being at the spot was not always a pleasant place. The skateboard ramp helped "distractions" helped but the tension was there for sure
Street Carp is still one of my favorite bangers. Was dating a chick that was mad ghetto and wild and that song always reminded me of her style and behavior. Sexy, crazy and fun as fuck.
Cool. There’s a great divide from band dudes and musicians. Band dudes get their feelings hurt about “parts” , they get defensive bc they are uncomfortable. Musicians are relaxed and can take scrutiny. It can always be better.
Favorite band growing up. Only one worthy of my money, time and attention. Adrenaline is still my favorite. White Pony was amazing but not my favorite. Deftones was the weakest for me. Adrenaline. Diamond Eyes. SNW. ATF WP.
nope but the best theory ive heard is that korea sounds like chorea, a disease that involves involuntary tics. white pony aka coke can have that effect on you. plus, helmet has a song called tic that also has the lines carve your niche and work your pitch
White Pony is the Alternative/Hard Rock/Metal’s Darkside of the Moon
It really is
My love for deftones has been rejuvenated
whoa
How the fuck it ever die?

OP saw the word cocaine in the thumbnail and clicked at lightning speed
Glad to see Frank get some coverage, he's the secret weapon in this band. Especially live.

Dude you should seriously interview the band one day, you have such a good comprehension of the band’s history😳
honestly im torn between never meet your heroes vs unlocking a new level of information about them lol
I got a bad headache, couldn't sleep, found you and am here to stay binge watching. Now I know why this channel is called Nocturne.

When you were talking about Frank’s input it reminded of when Rick Beato’s video on Minerva. So much going on in the background.

Awesome to see the kids enjoying Deftones. Always wondered why more people didn't know about em'. lol
white pony cover art was themed after the band Hum. such a band lost in time
I’ve been watching your videos while I’m at the gym, and I’ve never taken a look at how criminally underrated you are! Keep this up my man!
thanks bro 👊
this is amazing man, I always like to watch videos about white pony but the words you said at the end is PERFECT. keep it up
Super stoked! Always excited when you drop a new video because I know it’ll be filled with professionalism and effort.
Masterpiece indeed! Total Aura!
Legendary intros like this is why you'll be referenced in the future for helpin spread the story of Le Deftones
i took a gamble and it paid off 😅

The segments feel like the loading screen for cutscenes in video games
Rodleen Getsic’s live performance with Deftones was kinda scary. Her vibe just scares me overall actually after watching her videos 😅
holy shit bro this was just fuckin amazing I really fucking love deftones and since im a drummer abe really affected me as a player

Very watchable.
