A city slicker went to the country and saw a farmer out in his field loading up rocks in a wagon. The city slicker yelled to the farmer, "Hey, where did all those rocks come from?" The farmer thought that was a pretty dumb question, so he replied in disgust, "A Glacier brought em". He went back to picking up more rocks. Pretty soon he heard the city slicker yell, "hey, where did the Glacier go?" The farmer yelled back, "It went back to get more rocks!"
As one grows older, your commentary at the end of the video rings so true. When youth escape's our mortal bodies we must realize that there are many things that we have very little control over. To try to hang on to those ideas and control those things is very stressful. It is in my humble opinion that less stress equals a happier life.
As I consider my almost 70 years on this earth, being raised milking cows, hauling hay and other farm chores...how refreshing your channel and lifestyle is! No politics, very little controversy, but tons and tons of common sense !!! Thank you for extolling the virtues of hard work, using things up and then fixing them yourself, and keeping the mom & pop farm life real!
"Hi, I'm Pete. Welcome to a Just a Few Acres of Rock Farm". "Today, we're planting stone seeds in the Winter pasture for our spring crop so we'll have fresh rocks for Spring harvest." 🤣
100% agree with what you said at the end of the video. We let our backyard “naturalize.” It’s filled with golden rod and wild asters and the honey bees are all over it! It’s so beautiful this time of year!
Brilliant observation- having grown up in that manicured 50's ascetic, i always wondered about the older farm houses' circles of wildness around trees and barns. Really appreciated the tree lined fields with their shade for the horse teams and saw farmers in the 50's and 60's enjoying their mayonnaise jars of iced tea under the old giants. Thanks Pete!
Thanks Pete for another great video. I really enjoy every aspect of your videos. I appreciate you and your family. If the rest of the world were more like you, we would be much happier. I love when you share your wisdom. You take care and I'll see you later. Have fun at the plowday.
Another peaceful and happy video. Thank you for sharing this next chapter in your story. I like to contrast your work with the pictures of my great grandfather and grandfather working the fields and farm in the foot hills of Mount Holyoke by the Connecticut River. No gasoline in use just two horse power and strong bodies getting thru the day. Just something for me to think about. By the way, the pictures are from an archive of Clifton Johnsons work. He was an local author and keen on the valley. A blessing to be able to see the world thru his eyes. Cheers, peace.
The winter pasture looks great. It will soon get alot of natural fertilizer thanks to the cows. Your ideas about zones was very true. I personally use that plan too and it makes life alot simpler. Be safe.
Fresh cinnamon donuts from the flea market & a mug of coffee brewed at home, while watching Pete's latest video. It's times like this that life is good! You sure have been getting your money's worth out of the mini excavator, Pete. Good investment & the drainage field is looking great. Have a nice week & enjoy the plowing match next weekend.
The fact that you spoke about control and zones and the lack there of ….for certain areas of your domain…..is very clever to me. Architects are a different breed. In a Good way.
Good morning, Pete. Did you count all those rocks that you picked up or turned over, LOL. I give you and your family a grade +A for control. Achieving your level of independence takes a "great" deal of knowledge, practice and planning. Showing us how you raise livestock, perserve food, taking care of your land, maintaining equipment. Enjoy your day!!!!
Nature areas. Like where the "cool plough that you're not going to paint", was located. You're awesome, Pete! Hope you make a long video of the plough show. I wish I could go myself.
Always a pleasure watching what you are doing on the home stead and your jokes as well as just your talking times. Hope you make some video of your day at the plowing match.
Love it Pete, and yes, that is slow and tedious work. I'm in Cleveland and we're having the same glorious stretch of beautiful weather also. Enjoyed this video, as usual and thanks for sharing it.
We flatten our cow yard too. We use a 12' International disk that's older than me. Then a cultipacker to finish it off. You did a really nice job Pete. It looks smooth as silk. And you would love our yard. We mow the lawn with the cows.😊
I don't know why, but I have always loved a clean cut yard. It just feels tidy and kept. I will say I love your videos. You both are amazing people. Thanks
In the 70s, my grandfather bought a rock picker. When living in Bigstone county, it's a good investment. Before that, we did it manual like you're doing. Maybe a guy could still find that vintage of a picker.
Looks like you have got pretty good with that excavator, practice makes perfect. Loved the video thanks for keeping us up to date. Hope to see ya next week .
I always, always, enjoy your channel and whatever you're doing. Being a city raised guy, these farm activities are enlightening, and I think your chores are interesting to watch.
I truly enjoy your channel. I grew up around farm all tractors. I love hearting yours start up and run. Thanks for sharing your life and family. Keep the videos coming.
So enjoy watching this farm take shape, thanks for thoughts on control, found it very useful, Pete ,you and Hillary are absolutely amazing. Thanks again, have a great day !
The farm looks so good ! You have done so much work to enhance the overall look and better drainage this year and it looks great. Your pride and joy. Thank you for sharing with us!😊
Like so many others. my Sunday was once again blessed with a good cup of coffee and best of all Pete's talk and Philosophy at the end. and I must say Pete, Socrates, Aristotle and Plato, have nothing on you my friend, your logic stems it all very well thank you for that and these videos and lest we not forget Hillary. in Shakespearian tones, "She is small, but she is fierce" God Speed ECF.
Pete, youre going to have to find a market for those rocks!! Youd be a millionaire!! 😅😅 Go for the juggler😅😅😅😅 I hope we get a great Pete video of the Plow Day!! Sounds like a great time! Enjoy!!
Pete you brought back memories of me digging footings by hand in Rome NY back in the early 70s. Talk about rocks. I took many pickup loads to the dump and that was work unloading by hand. Winter pasture looks good but you will have more use for the box blade come spring. Thanks for the enjoyment.
Always look forward to your Videos Pete and Hillary! I am working toward my goal of Dexter cows, land, chickens and such! God Bless your family and farm! Thank you for doing what you do! Sheri The Organic Pet Lady
I do enjoy the sound of that 282 in your 656 Pete, brings back memories of my Grandfathers 656, His had the pressed steel wheels and weights like your's, his wasn't a Hydro though. I've done my share of rock picking here in Delaware county NY too. Nice job of grading.
i live in the city a suburban subdivision much to my neighbours dismay I piled my lawn a bit with the dirt from an expanded walkway. This surrounded by large rocks no grass vines tress shrubs plants flowers . I wanted a wild but neat on the edges no weeds but vines. I love it , little maintenance.

My old landlord said that he was a rock farmer most of the time... lolz Cool share!
ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!
😆😆😆😆😆
I like hearing you talk Mr. Pete because unlike a lot of people today, you actually have something to say.
👍
Red tractors, doing anything, is a great video...not biased 😅
Personally love hearing the best segment of some shows " PETES WISDOM MINUTES"
Nothing like a Just a few Acres video featuring Pete and Hillary and a cup of coffee. Life is good today. Have a great rest of your Sunday. Thank you.
👍
Pete & Hillary, it would not be Sunday morning without fresh coffee and a new video from you. Thank you very much!!!
Ah, pickin rocks, great memories. Good job for all the lost kids out there lacking direction.

Like the Pete eye in the sky drone . Gives a perspective of the farm and what hes working on .

"Hi, I'm Pete. Welcome to a Just a Few Acres of Rock Farm". "Today, we're planting stone seeds in the Winter pasture for our spring crop so we'll have fresh rocks for Spring harvest." 🤣
Make sure to always harvest what you seed! Otherwise they will grown into boulders
The winter yard looks amazing! Lots of hard work but so worth it! Love the dad jokes too!
I love how your bulls talk
Cracks me up evtime I hear them
How is life this year without the pigs and turkeys, we enjoy watching you every Sunday on the big screen in the living room.
All I can say is, both of you are fantastic people I love your videos.
I like your pearls at the end
A farm can easily become a desert, thanks for keeping space for the wildlife. We all benefit from it.
100% agree with what you said at the end of the video. We let our backyard “naturalize.” It’s filled with golden rod and wild asters and the honey bees are all over it! It’s so beautiful this time of year!
The sound of you zhushing (?) hay and birds twittering in the barn is terribly relaxing ......G'day from Oz !
I have wondered, for a very long time, how that would be spelled. I came to the same conclusion you did this morning.
Wow, the size of your project was really shown well in the drone shots. Very impressive, the end product, for now, turned out great. Very nice job!!!
Love your content Pete makes our day watching and listening to you

Love to hear those 6 cylinders very distinct sound
Brings back memories of my grandparents farms. Their groves were full of old junk. I love your "Pete's Pearls of Wisdom" Can't wait for the plow day.

The fact that you spoke about control and zones and the lack there of ….for certain areas of your domain…..is very clever to me. Architects are a different breed. In a Good way.
Good to see you using the Case excavator. A great asset to your farm.
We got Takeuchi excavator and wouldn't be without it. Such a labour saver.
I loved the joke Pete. I'll pass that one on to my daughters. Thanks
Awww... Sunday morning acres.😊

As soon as you said ......"I went to the mall the other day" ...... I felt a Dad joke coming on ......
And Pete didn't disappoint!!
Not sure if I should admit this, I actually chuckled a bit at that joke. It's taken a few years but. Greetings from Australia.

The rock picker buckets work really well when the ground is dry like that.
