- After a two day snowstorm, it's time to dig out. The driveways need to be plowed and the cattle need fresh bedding and hay. Plus, today is the start of a new attempt at getting the pigs bred.

Happy Birthday Hillary, love live cam ...slow it down a little.. live cams are great for people that can't hit the channel button. Cable shuts off the TV. If no one hits volume button. If someone is disabled, they can't hit that button..live cams make people more peaceful..they might have worked on a farm .remember their younger years. Most of the time you can only find ocean noise to sleep with for 8 hrs. Thanks Again
I know doing everything on the farm probably takes most of the day - but doing everything and then filming has to take all day. For that I say thank you, it’s appreciated. You bring great perspective from all the different shots, and the sound is always kept at a good level. It’s a pain - but you always do it - thank you.

Yep, as soon as you asked what could possibly be done with six inches on the ground, I started humming the Wagner. It is the only thing majestic enough to accompany the valiant work of the little tractor. What a stroke of luck to find that bolt.
Sounds like Hilarie had a lovely birthday with peaceful snow, special lunch, and satisfying chores. Many happy returns of the 32nd, which does seem to return about this time every year.
I loved to hear the sound of the cows munching away on their supper when we turned out the lights in the barn of a winter night. Sometimes when I crawled into bed I would think about them out there, snuggled into their beds in the cozy darkness. Much better than counting sheep.

I used to plow my road with a Farmall Super C. Nothing more pleasant than going under a snow filled tree banch and have it fall down your neck. Also setting your butt down a frozen metal seat made sure you were awake. Good ol' days. I really like my pickup for plowing these days.

I have seen Pete do this a couple of times, and I think I must be misunderstanding what I am seeing. Is he putting new feed on top of old manure? Or is that more for bedding, with the intent to compost it over the winter?

As I watch this video while having my morning coffee in my glider rocker and a winter storm outside the window , it takes me back to my youth. The farm smells, sounds and sights come vividly to mind. I remember sitting in our barn on a winter night with the hurricane lantern burning and just listening to the cows eating while I enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Thanks for bringing me back to those times. Keep up the amazing videos.

We had 12 inches in one day here in Iowa and then we’ve had three days since and we are now in the negative double digit temperatures. Who wants to go outside in that?! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Hilarie! All of us really humble great and talented people were born this week. Wowee! All that snow! Better you than me. By the way, my father used to paint bolts, screws etc. in bright spray paint for just such a circumstance as you encountered. Even a light spray of turquoise or orange made the bolts/screws that escaped easier to find. I was always the one tasked with finding them so I appreciated not going blind while searching. This years barn set ups are so much more efficient. Lots of planning and work----great results. You do give your cattle a contented life. Not just what they need but what they want for a comfortable life. You are good folks.

The time lapse of the cows bedding down and enjoying their new cover was enjoyable. Nice to see the white stuff. Down here on Long Island we only got some rain for that big storm they made such a fuss about. Used to be it would snow and we were used to it. Now the news makes such a big deal about storms - must be quiet days at the newsrooms so they have to rev us up with something! There was that great snowstorm back in 1977 - talk about snow! Now THAT was newsworthy! '78 was also impressive. Glad to see the Farmall A take care of business and good eye for finding that rivet/bolt! Thank you!
