Affordable vintage Scandinavian design sold for less than $100

We’re often talking about exclusive, expensive design by famous architects like Finn Juhl, Josef Frank and Alvar Aalto. To compensate for all our videos about costly dream furniture sold for thousands of dollars, we’ve decided to do a video about objects sold at auction in Sweden for less than 100 USD. You definitely don’t need to be a millionaire to furnish your home with great design, it can be found for close to nothing at auction and in thrift store. All objects in this video were recently sold at the auction site Auctionet.

That last piece had finger joints, precisely for the reason you interlocked your fingers in the video. I have one of those in rosewood without the tiles. Will have to check the underside to look for makers mark. It’s heavy and very solid.

I found a Danish designed 6 setting dinning table for 60$ CAN (garage sale) needed a cleanup because it had paint spots on it, and 2 Fritz Hansen waiting room chairs for 30$ CAN in a thrift shops. Cushions needed to be replaced. But all in all the people selling were not aware of what they were selling.

Swedish pine furniture is becoming very popular here in the states. I guess because they have modern lines but fit in rustic and industrial settings as well. It’s a weird phenomenon how mid century modern stores are turning into primitive modern stiores, but I think dealers are getting desperate and trying to reach a broader market. With the economy getting worse and worse I wonder to where it will lead dealers in the future. I also think that since everyone and their mother is selling mcm, established dealers are shifting markets.
