    Nyssa, thanks for all your hard work in bringing these videos to us, they're delightful. Never change your style of presentation- we love it. Wishing you, Daryl & the children a very happy Christmas xx P.S. You are a good daughter getting the spray before your mum arrives! I would be a bit concerned re extra wildllife (& I don't mean Lambington!) & it's lovely that you are thoughtful about her visiting

    You know, I live in the US, in a major (well, you would recognize the city name) city (but really a big town) in the mid-south of the US. We were never able to have children. We are, however, Anglican (my husband is a priest) and we have 12 chickens (yes, in town) and are keto/carnivores. I have been watching you for years. And while our seasons are opposite - I think they are very similar. We often hit the 90s F in May with high humidity. I'm pretty soft and can't live without A/C. I so enjoy watching your channel. Thank you for going outside your comfort zone for us!

    i love when you just vlog and it is kind of rambely. i like the glimpse into your real life and how your brain works and i love just seeing your family being helpful even the vanna hand sweep. lol i also understand if the vlog style isn't something you can maintain. but just know some of us love you unscripted and squirrly.

    Cream freezes really well. In the 17:40 are in or in smaller portions. Use ice cube trays. Then you can just take one cube to put straight into your coffee. It doesn't whip really good after freezing, though.

    Nyssa, you are "True Blue". Amazing how organized you are. AND how you can pack all that food and drive it home. What to you use the Maldon salt for. Was popcorn one of the items the kids forgot to tell you that needed bought. I noticed in the past week or 2 that you were making lots of popcorn. Loved the video and Darryl's hand sweep.

    • @OurSmallFootprint

      We just love the texture of the maldon salt on things it tastes amazing but it also is that flakey texture, I make everything but the bagel seasoning up with it and even though D and I aren't eating bagels atm, that sprinkled over food is delish!
      We actually had plenty of popcorn left, I must have overbought the month before!

    What I've noticed is that when you first started doing these videos you had said that people make comments, nasty comments, and you had tough skin and it doesn't bother you. Lately, you're apologizing left and right for how your property or kitchen looks. Block those people. They don't live there. Most of us regulars enjoy seeing it. Stop letting it bother you so much that you have to mention it every video. I love to see how different other people live.

    What a delicious stock up of fruit. Lychees here are $15 kg from the farmer. Mangoes $2.
    My rolled pork was $14.99kg of $49.29. The pork and ham products are processed by the butcher who sells them so they are quality product.
    I bought that chocolate sauce at xmas one year but silly me stored it in the fridge. We had a good laugh about it.

    Another great video thank you. Would you mind briefly explaining how you set up your list to price everything per 100g, not setting up the spreadsheet but getting all the prices as Costco and Aldi are not online. Did you just make a note when you went shopping or have it in your planner? Just trying to work out how to get all the prices and keep up to date ❤

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  3 дні тому

      I keep all my receipts! so every trip I update the spreadsheet, but the thing is that its really not in a very readable format and I just never seem to get to updating it more than just running the list of prices into it.
      Then I have formulas based on the pack sizing, so yeah, take photos, check receipts, and just do it as I go along.

    Hi Nyssa, just wondering if you've seen the ocean spray cranberry juice concentrate. It's $8 full price for 1 litre but that makes the equivalent of 5 litres. I make it up in a 1.5 litre bottle and add a little sugar to it. Works out a lot cheaper. It's Unsweetened, you could use stevia or allulose to sweeten it to your taste. I buy it when it comes on special

    I actually thought that your grocery haul was quite small really considering you dont shop for another 2 months, and it xmas. The fruit haul was big though. I usually try and get big 10kg bags of potatoes. Do your children prefer potatoes or pasta? I boiled my mango pip and made mango and passionfruit cordial. Hoping you all have a fabulous Xmas!

    • @OurSmallFootprint
      @OurSmallFootprint  3 дні тому

      Potatoes go bad real quick here in the heat, so I have to limit the amount that I buy because we just don't get through them :S
      I normally would make huge batches of cordial with the mango pits etc, unfortunately, I'm a little stuck for time and space this trip and most of them are going to the chooks!

      We have access to a stand pipe in town about 30 mins away, D goes there once or twice a week to get post and animal feed etc, and he takes an IBC with him on a trailer, so he grabs 1,000L and then we pump it into our main tanks :). Our loads are $500 for 10,000 L, the standpipe is about $3 for 1000L if you cart it yourself

    I didnt enjoy the Noshu or Carmen bars at all. I do however make a bar myself from unsalted pork rinds (broken into small pieces), macadamia nuts, and I mix together no sugar chocolate melts (melted) and a jar of any nut butter which forms a nice fudgy type of candy to pour over them. I also find that all the keto products in the supermarket and health shops are extremely expensive. Searching the we will reward you with some amazing channels that will show you how to make yourself :D

    So jealous of the price of most of your produce from NZ...
    I love you yardstick for measuring price. I think going into 2025 I am going to do the same. We are only a family of 4 but am thinking $4 per person per day. To include cleaners and pet food that is from supermarket (their dry is online) thats $336 a week which is a lot less than I currently seem to spend!

      Many thanks - it is wonderful to see an Australian bulk buy/preserving channel - so tired of making the conversions from US measurements/names/products. Not that they aren't amazingly informative, but it's easier watching someone who is more relatable. You're doing a fantastic job!
