  • Aloha hui!
Today we got an epic Catch and Cook episode in which we get some surf fishing here in Hawaii going, and catch ourselves the largest Palani of my life! This thing was a solid fight and made for an amazing catch and cook / catch clean cook. The first half of the day hard times fishing for bait to use surf fishing. The struggle was all worth it in the end though when we hook up on this Palani, clean it, and get out catch and cook going strong! We make some fish wraps at the end of the day, and end up with some amazing dinner. Catch and cook is ON! First time eating palani, it was good!
    A hui hou!

Oamas use 2lb floro carbon and size 18 hooks and small sinkers. And when dunking oamas flip your setup short lead line and long leader and hook oama in upper lip they last longer. You were losing your oamas because the lead whip from the long lead line. My opinions but thats just how me and my boiz do it on Maui. Nice palani tho🤙🏽

Hey Francis I'm in Maui right now and I'm having trouble fishing from the shore/surf. Do you think you could offer me any tips or some suggestions on places I should visit that might increase my chances of catching a fish?

Mason Gandara best bait is fresh octopus legs. Frozen squid works also. Kalama park in kihei is a good spot we pulled out big bonefish and trevallys out of there. We normally dunk there.

I caught a pananu fishing and was like wth is this? Looks like a uhu but the fishing I was doing would be rare for catch a uhu. Took um to one uncle on the coastline fishing and asked him. He said the exact same "it's a pananu!" He was a old time fisherman and was tripping saying he hasn't seen one in a long time and was more amazed I caught it on the pole

Banyan's inside reef 10 yards out you will see big schools of palani like that size you caught. Never used a pole to catch them before, I dive speargun action. I know a spot close by with lobsters for days also close to shore🤫👍

I live in Alaska now and it's salmon season. Was able to get 4 kings (Chinook) so far all over 30 inches biggest weighed 32 lbs. Using a spinner super vibrax lure and 50 pound test braided line. King salmon fight just as hard as uluas do it's super addicting when you play tug a war with a good size fish! Just got off work not long ago getting ready to go for some silver's (coho) 20 minute drive from my house.🤙
