Thanks again to captain Will and Ed for an epic day!! It was a day we will never forget! Can’t wait to do it again! Thanks for all your hard work, friendship, and making a dream come true!!
Nice day fishing in Hawaii nei! Full time Commercial fishing in Hawaii for 45+ years, 3 decades from the Big island, was blessed with incredible Big ahi fishing. Not much more exciting than Big ahi strkes trolling! Captain likely knows this, but for the deck hand, on big fish, especially ahi, double wrap each time pulling leader. The rule of thumb is a single wrap will slip, a double wrap will hold, and a triple wrap can bind, and of course make sure the wrapsgo towards the fish ie: first wrap, then the second must be in front of the first, never behind it! That way, you can dump the leader if you need to, like on big donkeys for instance, so you don't get yanked over board, which does happen! When you get into gorilla ahi/200-300 lb. size, it's completely different from the smaller ones, how heavily they fight, and at leader, particularly how most Oahu fisherman leader big ahi while still in gear moving forward. Where as soon the big island most guys prefer to fight and leader big ahi in neutral so they're pretty much coming straight up from deep circling! Everyone has there preferences and depending on weather you have outboard, or io legs off the transom compared to straight shaft set up like many diesel engine boats are set up, like my boats all have been! When it comes to big ahi fishing in Hawaii, Kauai and the big island are just awesome, and in general more consistent and better than Oahu, yet Oahu definitely gets really good too! Just sharing what nearly 5 decades now of full time Commercial fishing from the Big island all the way up to midway island in the northwestern Hawaiian islands have blessed me with in experience plus learning and being taught by some of the best fishermen I Hawaii if not the world!! Your charter was definitely stoked on this day! Enjoy your fishing videos brah! Aloha D.L
Why leave the racket on after the fish is on and you fighting it Is it for noise effect for the audience. Never leave it on only wears out the feature ball and corresponding part
nice. I understand its so hard to wind that huge reel ment for a chair for that size tuna but you did good girl and landed the fish. congrats
